Appropriating Healing In Christ
The Christian is one with the God-life, a life that doesn’t require healing because it doesn’t get sick. Why are many sick then? Ignorance! God said, “My people are destroyed for their lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).
The Bible says, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal (death-doomed) bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth
in you” (Romans 8:11). The Holy Spirit, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you and has vitalized your mortal body. That means your body isn’t death doomed or sickness prone anymore. Hallelujah!
God’s people must know, live, and spread the truth. When you become a Christian and you receive the Holy Spirit, you should NEVER be sick again in your life. What you need is consciousness of the divine life in you and the fact that the Holy Spirit perambulates in you to ward off every anomaly and keep you healthy.
Healing is not a mystery; it is the work of God made manifest through faith.
1. Believe that Jesus is your healer
Faith is the foundation of healing. Healing begins the moment you believe that Jesus already paid the price for your health. The Word declares, “By His stripes, we were healed.” Faith in Christ’s finished work is the key that opens the door to your miracle.
2. Recognize the presence of God
When Chris Oyakhilome ministers during the Healing Streams, he often says, “Now you are in the presence of God, and in His presence all things are possible.” Recognize that God is with you where you are. His presence carries power. As you listen, pray, or watch, the Spirit of God is right there, ready to touch you.
3. Act on your faith
Faith without action is incomplete. Do what you could not do before. Move that leg, lift that hand, or take that step. Acting in faith releases the power of God already at work in you.
4. Use the Word of God as your medicine
The Word is living and active. It brings health to your body and peace to your mind. Speak healing scriptures daily, declare that you are whole. The Word builds your spirit until healing becomes your reality.
5. Put your hand where you need a miracle
Place a hand on the part of their body that needs healing. This simple act is a point of contact—a physical expression of your faith. If you are praying for a loved one, lay hands on them as a symbol of agreement in faith.
6. Pray with confidence in the name of Jesus
Pray boldly, saying, “I come against sickness, disease, and infirmity in the name of Jesus Christ.” That same authority is available to every believer. When you pray, speak the name of Jesus with conviction, knowing that all power in Heaven and earth belongs to Him.
7. Refuse fear and doubt
Fear weakens faith, but faith conquers fear. Believers must reject negative thoughts and keep their minds fixed on the Word. When doubt tries to whisper that your case is impossible, declare instead: “This is my moment. I receive my miracle now.”
8. Receive the power of the Holy Ghost
The Holy Spirit is the power behind every healing miracle.
“The power of the Holy Ghost is working in your behalf right now.” Open your heart and receive that power. The Holy Spirit can heal bones, cleanse the blood, restore hearing, and bring new life to every cell in your body.
9. Praise and thank God
When you receive healing, thank God immediately. Praise is the voice of faith. Even before you see the full manifestation, rejoice and give glory to God.
Your thanksgiving seals your miracle. Gratitude keeps your heart aligned with faith.
Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God (2 Corinthians 3:5).
The Spirit of God can bestow on you supernatural ability, and then suddenly, you’ll discover there’re certain things you’re able to do; you’ll supernaturally exhibit talents, skills, or proficiencies in areas you never knew you could.
We’ve received such testimonies about certain people who were never formally schooled, but somehow, by the supernatural ability of the Spirit, they picked up the Bible and could read and understand it. Some others found themselves functioning with extraordinary wisdom of the Spirit in ability, understanding, intelligence, knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to devise skilful and artistic works. Someone may ask, “How’s that possible?” It’s by the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
You know, so much happens when we minister the Word of God; so much is transferred and imparted through the power of God’s Spirit. In Christ, we do have the ability to cause something supernatural to happen for others. In Luke 5, Peter had toiled in vain, trying to catch some fish. But Jesus told him, “…Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught” (Luke 5:4). Simon, who was a professional fisherman, answering him, said, “…Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net” (Luke 5:5). He and his colleagues caught such a great multitude of fishes, so much so that their net began to tear (Luke 5:6).
Even now, the Spirit of God is ministering special abilities into your life; you can receive now! The Bible says, “He giveth more grace…” (James 4:6).
There’ ae certain things you’d find that from today, you’re able to do, which hitherto, you weren’t able to do; the ability has been granted to you supernaturally, by the Spirit of God. That ability will cause you to prosper in your job, business, academics— in all areas of your life, in the Name of Jesus!
