Ogbanje

He saw all the signs 
He counted it all as foolishness
How could a lady in this day and
age call herself a priestess of one
river in her village
How dumb is that?
Rivers don't need priestesses
Rivers are things
Things are nothing but things
A thing cannot and should not
be worshipped
African folks are just too superstitious
He studied in the city
He had never been outside the shores of
his country but he had a very sound
mind and understood life!
What the lady told him made no sense
He told her as much
She just smiled and looked away
She was a beautiful damsel
She was studying for her ICAN 
examinations
She had failed some courses and
someone sent her to him for some
advice
The moment he saw her
His hormones started revving
There was something about her that
made his heart dance with joy
He asked her out
And she agreed to go out with him
He took her to a seafood restaurant
She refused to eat anything there
She stated categorically that she
does not eat fish, any type of
fish!
Whenever they went out
She always stepped into a house
with her left leg
He didn't notice this until after
a month of being with her
She had a trained ear
She listens a lot and often gives
very wise counsel
Material things don't move her
She wore white clothes most
of the time
As much as possible she avoided
anything black in colour
on it
She was always calm and measured
She had no issue with being intimate
with him
He was the one who felt a little time
to get to know each other was important
They shouldn't just jump into bed
Even animals spend some time chasing
each other before consummating the
relationship!
She wasn't happy with being close
She wanted access to the inner 
chambers of his heart
She said she didn't believe two people
could claim they were having a relationship
without having sex
He didn't mind having sex with her
He just felt it could wait a bit until
they both felt the chemistry was right
Eventually, he decided he had nothing to lose
That night, she came early to his apartment
They watched some movies and 
then she went for a shower
When she emerged from the bathroom
He forgot everything else and tuned
in to her frequency
They started the whole sex thing
When it was time for him to insert
the key in the ignition
He discovered she was a virgin
WOW!
He wanted to withdraw at that point
He had never had sex with a virgin
before
But she urged him on
It had to be that night
Everything was aligned in the cosmos 
He wouldn't dare leave her hanging
He climbed up to the highest diving board
and had a headlong dive
There was a splash of crimson and 
some pain
But it was quickly backed up by
moans and spontaneous music
He was her first and she squirmed
with delight
It was a night he would never forget
When they were both sated
She looked at him and smiled
She said "You are mine for life,
my captive of choice, my donkey
to ride into dark treasures and
realms of wonder!"
It was very poetic
He was impressed by the glint
in her eyes
It reminded him of Romeo and Juliet
Her attempt at poetry was quite
impressive!
She was wearing a red bead in her
left hand
He wanted to take it off. She said NO!
She said "It was to give him permission
to have sex with her"
He was unperturbed! 
She had spent too much time in the 
village
The fetish beliefs were still a part of
her 
He understood this from the moment
he met her
Later that night, as he slept, he saw
some terrible things!
He saw himself naked and tied to a huge
rock on top of a mountain, he was pulling the
rock upwards and struggling seriously
under its weight!
He woke up perspiring but then he saw her
laying naked and welcoming
He took another bite of the apple
And forgot all about the dark omens
He took her shopping the next day
He had found for himself an unploughed
wonder
He intended to keep the source of the
wonder greased and well lubricated 
His babe moved in
They became live-in lovers!
Eight months later things turned 
His salary was increased at the office
He was given an official car
He had investments and savings
He was supposed to be rich
Yet he kept plunging into debt
He literarily sees his money only
on paper
Then it disappears and he lives from 
hands to mouth for the rest of the
month!
It made no sense
He couldn't account for millions!
It got so bad that if anybody transferred
money into his accountant
The person will have all the evidence
of the transaction
The bank will have a record of him
withdrawing the money and all
And yet, he wouldn't see or touch
the money!
He was extremely poor within five
months of deflowering her
She was quite supportive and even
helped him out financially several times
His fortune grew worse by the day
Eventually, he went to meet his
mother
He explained everything 
His mother took him to some elders
They told him he had made a covenant
of wealth with an Ogbanje
A priestess of the water realm whose
duty was to make a captive of the 
fortunes of men
They told him no matter how hard
he worked
He will never have more than what
he needed to survive 
He will always be poor
He asked them for a solution
They told him they would prepare
a special bath for him
He would be cooked fully clothed 
in a concoction inside a large pot
When he rose out of the pot
They would tear the clothes off him
and he would be set free from the
bondage of the Ogbanje
He went for the procedure
It was hell! 
He was almost got boiled alive
All in the name of deliverance 
It changed nothing!
His debt was still piled up
When he called them to complain
They said his babe elonged to higher
realm of the Waterworld and they
would have to do another type
of deliverance using banana tree
and some white clothes
In all these, he was warned severely not
to leave his babe or provoke her in any
way!
They said his life is in her hands
The man said "You are like a small chicken
in the hand of a voodoo priest
She can tear your neck off at any time she 
desires to do so"
He had to pretend and lie to his girlfriend
all the time
When he reached out to the brother
in Jeans and T-shirt
It was because of a fraud that was 
committed in his office
Somehow he was implicated in a case he
knew nothing about simply because he 
used to work in a unit where the crime 
was committed
He wrote passionately
Please help me, sir!
He got an appointment and they prayed
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told him
what it means to be born again
What it means to be translated
What it means for the human reality to
be supplanted by divine reality!
He paid attention, they held hands and prayed
in the spirit 
The Holy Spirit got to work
Within five minutes, he was flat on his back
He laid there for about ten minutes
When he stood up, he was unstable
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt laid hands
on him again
He fell on his face this time
When he got back on his feet, he started
praying in tongues
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt left him
to pray
When he was through, he went home
To his surprise, his babe had packed all
her things and left his apartment
He was very relieved
He had been wondering how he would deal
with her
That was the month things started turning around
His money stayed in his pocket and he was cleared
of the fraud case 
He was also able to offset some debt
Some of the previously mysteriously valid
bank transactions were reversed
PS: It has been three years
He recovered speedily!
He never saw that babe again!
He met another lady 
They are planning to get married soon
There are all sorts of people who
have sold themselves in covenant with
the hordes of hell and darkness!
Some of them manifest demonic realities
while others act as a gateway to demonic 
activities in the life of others!
But they cannot touch the Born Again
Christian who is living in reality
of the Holy Spirit 
Do not be a victim when you can be a 
victor

who found himself in the same predicament!
There are so many pitfalls in the world
There are so many things that we
discountenance that could be our
undoing!
"Look before you leap" would be apt
if you can see with your naked eyes
But spiritual traps can neither be seen
by the natural mind nor discerned by
carnal means
Without the Holy Spirit, you will be as
blind as a bat!
If you find yourself in this sort of
affliction, please don't despair
The Holy Spirit will set you free
once and for all!
