Covert Operation

He kept saying "She wouldn't say 
that to my face"
She wouldn't look at me and say
to my face that it is over!
I know her
I love her
She will never betray me like this!
She will never hurt me
She will never leave me
She will never abandon me
No way!
I don't believe she wrote this letter
I cannot believe she will leave me
for another man
It is impossible!
He kept repeating it over and over
Like somebody who has taken leave 
of his senses
Everybody pitied him
His mother shrugged and left him
alone
His younger ones left him to stew
Heartbreak is a dangerous thing
It keeps its victim in a state of
constant denial but time heals it
When he was alone, he opened his
bag and brought out their album
They had a whole paper bag of pictures
Pictures that were taken on campus
Even though they were attending 
different schools
He visited her in her school often
and she did the same with him
They had been friends since their
secondary school days 
Since their Junior Secondary School days
They were not in-love
They defined love
They had one heart
He literarily felt cold when she was
cold and felt hot when she is hot!
They both took to each other like
thread to wool!
It was not about sex
They had been soul mates long before 
they became lovers
She completes him
It was not about emotion
It was not about anything material
They are one spirit living in two
bodies
She couldn't have jilted him
It is impossible!
He didn't sleep throughout that night
He counted the hours of the long night
As soon as it was morning, he clutched 
the letter his younger
sister gave him as he returned from his 
NYSC post and left for her
house
His younger sister told him she saw him at 
her parent's house the
previous day
He knew she was at home
He got to her house around 7 AM
Their friendship evolved into a relationship 
two years after they
graduated from secondary school
while they were both seeking admission 
into the university
 They had been dating for six years
He was no stranger to them
As soon as he got close to her house
She opened the gate and ran
straight into his arms
She had been crying too
Her eyes were all puffed up
She kept looking over her
shoulders as if she was scared
of someone seeing them
He didn't get it
What was going on
She said "I know you will come
this morning. Didn't I tell you not to come? 
You have to go now! 
I will find a way to reach 
out to you! I promise, please
go now!"
He stood there transfixed
"What is going on" He asked
He was even more confused than
when he left his parent's house
At least at that point, he knew
for sure that "she had met
someone else and moved on!"
She wasn't behaving like the
letter was written by her
or that the contents were real!
He couldn't leave without
knowing what was going on
When she saw that he wouldn't
leave
She took his hand and led him down a footpath 
beside her parent's house
She said "The leader of religious sect my 
father belonged to has promised my father a 
religious title for his dedication 
to the sect!
In exchange, my father promised 
me to him!
I have been promised to the man as
his sixth wife
My mother protested and so did
other members of my family
My father insisted!
When i protested some more, my
father swore to disown all my 
siblings and divorce my mother!
He said my mother had raised
rebellious children and has become
an enemy of the faith!
My mother changed her tone after
that episode
She told me I have to do what my
father said
I am the first of six children and 
all my younger ones are still getting
their education
My mother is a teacher
There is no point defying my father
We would be homeless and helpless
I had to give in!"
WOW!
She expected him to get it
Her explanation was supposed 
to make sense
He was 26 years old
He was young enough to start
all over
When he got home that day, he
started plotting how to run away
with her
It was what dominated his mind
He missed her terribly
He couldn't breathe
The air around him was oppressive
He hated his religion
He hated the religious leaders
How can a man with five wives
desire to marry a lady that belonged to another?
How can his wife's father be so
wicked to sell off his own daughter
in exchange for a religious title!
He daydreamed a lot
His imagination kept prompting
her escape and elopement with
him
Three days after he saw her
Some men came to his parent's
house
They were police officers
They came to arrest him for kidnapping
He didn't understand it
He was taken to the police station
His mother called for help
He was grilled on the whereabout
of his girlfriend
It seemed she had run away from home a 
day after he went to see her
Nobody knew her whereabout!
Her mother reported her missing the same 
day she left 
The police insisted they had to wait for 24 
hours before declaring her missing officially!
Of course, he was the one they suspected!
The boyfriend of their 25 year old
daughter whose heart was recently
broken 
Someone saw him the day
he went to their house to see her
He told the police he went to the
house to try and change her mind
even though she told him not to
come
he also explained that she sent
him away and promised to get in
touch with him sometime, somehow
She wrote in the letter that he 
shouldn't come to her house to
check on her but she didn't give
a good reason!
Even if she did!
He wouldn't have stayed away
He had to see her!
He was questioned the whole day
She gave them the letter she wrote
to him
They tried to find hidden codes
But there was nothing of such
He was kept till the following day
His mother was eventually able to
secure the services of a lawyer and 
he was bailed!
She was happy she summoned the
courage to escape
He was worried because she didn't
give him a clue
He didnt know her whereabout
It was terrible
He kept replaying their meeting in
his head
Did she say something?...
One week later, he got a phone
call from the Brother in Jeans and
T-shirt
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
asked him to come to Lagos for
an urgent meeting
He didn't get it
They were friends in the University
They forged a bond over the game of 
scrabbles!
They both represented the University 
and the NPUGA games for
three years!
They were both first class students
even though they belonged to different 
departments!
He needed the distraction
He went to the police station and
informed the officers that he was 
going to Lagos to see an old classmate 
for a business meeting!
The police DPO called the brother
in Jeans and T-shirt
They talked for a while
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
was not a close acquaintance and knew 
nothing about his missing
girlfried!
The DPO cleared him to travel!
He got to the house of the brother
in Jeans and T-shirt very early on
a Thursday morning
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt
welcomed him warmly
When he walked into the flat, he
saw his babe seating in the sitting
room of the Brother in Jeans and 
T-shirt!
What!!
His babe hugged him
They both cried
What happened?
She: "The night before I left home, 
I read a story on gbengawemimo's 
facebook page and i gave my life to Jesus! 
I was tired of oppression and 
religion!
I wanted to defy my parents and
do something that will hurt them
but at the same time I wanted to
experience peace and freedom
within my heart!
i was hurting too much
I wanted to commit suicide
I had bought the poison that I wanted 
to drink
I had been reading the GSW stories on 
facebook for sometime
(There was no website yet as at
this time)
I didn't care if they were true stories or fiction
The stories just resonated with me!
So I decided to follow the instructions 
and give my life to Christ!
I slept off immediately after praying
When I woke up at 5 AM
I heard a voice and felt a very strong 
leading to leave the house
I took all my savings and left
When i got to the express, i took 
a bus to Lagos
I didn't really know what i was doing!"
The Brother In Jeans and T-shirt said 
"Around 8am, as I was praying
I heard the Holy Spirit say to me
"Go to the Lagos/Ibadan garage
on CMD road"
So I drove there and waited
some minutes later, a bus arrived
and the passengers disembarked
I saw a lady with her head and face
covered walking up to me!
She: I recognized him immediately
He was in those pictures you took
at Covenant University, Igbinedion 
University and Leeds City University
when you were playing Scrabbles
for your school
I knew his face and I remembered
his name 
So i walked up to him and called
his name
He smiled and asked me for my
name
then he put me in his car and 
brought me to his house
I told him everything!
Wow!
We prayed and he showed me
to the guest room
he said he will pray and seek
the instruction of the Holy
Spirit on what to do!
Yesterday, he said he had been 
led to give you a call and invite you
over to Lagos!
WOW!
How can a God be that real?
Telling somebody in Ibadan to
travel to Lagos and telling somebody 
in Lagos to pick her
up at the motor park!
And the person happened to be
someone he knew!
Wow!
He was in a daze all day!
Later that evening, as they 
both whispered into each
other's ears on the couch,
he decided to give his life to Jesus!
He felt he needed to do so
urgently
He called the Brother in Jeans and
T-shirt
They prayed together and he became 
a believer!
The Brother in jeans and T-shirt
also laid hands on him and he 
received the baptism of the Holy
Spirit
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
told them, the Holy Spirit said
"I will open closed eyes and
enlighten narrowed minds"
They both screamed AMEN!
One week later, the EFCC picked
her father!
He was accused of diverting funds
meant for procuring equipment in
the ministry where he was working!
Her father was questioned for seven 
weeks!
When her father was released, the
first thing he did was give her mother 
some money for her business and for 
the upkeep of the children and 
their education!
According to him, the attack
is from some of his detractos and
the EFCC might strip him of everything out of spite!
She gained admission into the 
University of Manchester for her
Masters!
She reached out to her mother
Her mother quickly settled all the
bills and provided her with all the
documents
She travelled to the UK in 2011
He returned to Ibadan
One year later, he also gained
admission to the University of 
Manchester and left Nigeria
They both completed their Ph.D
in 2017
They are married with two children
They live in Manchester
Her father was retired in 2014 after 
the EFCC issue
He didn't get the religious title
Her mother's business is thriving
Her siblings all got their education
Her father finally agreed to speak
with her in September 2019
He also spoke with her husband and his 
grandchildren the same day
They will be having a proper traditional 
wedding this December
in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Holy Spirit is the greatest asset
of a believer
Not the law, not morality, not religion
Religion wouldn't have intervened
But the Holy Spirit will never ever
be constrainted by our our petty
nature!
He watches out for all His children
and makes sure adequate attention
is paid to our needs in Him.
If you don't have a relationship with
the Holy Spirit, you have to get a
hold of Him today!
Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and 
saviour and experience the
our new life in Zion!
