Waylaid

The first thing that she found 
very strange was the cobweb
It will just appear out of nowhere
and cover her face, arms, and legs
Her skin would crawl irritatingly
and she would instinctively claw
at her face to remove them
But they weren't real
or would the right expression be 
that they weren't visible
Invisible cobwebs!
The second thing was a conversation 
she had with the
lady who acted as the caretaker
of the apartment before they let
it!
She had walked to the newly 
constructed building in company
of her husband
Their former area was robbery
infested!
Thieves raided the street at will
stealing from tenants while sparing
the landlords!
Everybody knew the miscreants doing 
the job were the children and
wards of the landlords
But nobody had any hard evidence
They had been robbed three times
The first time was the night after
a champions league game between
Barcelona and Chelsea!
They didn't know how the thieves
were able to access their apartment!
They stole their laptops, camcorders, 
phones and money!
The second time was on a Sunday!
They returned from church service
to meet the neighbours lamenting
that they had been robbed!
What!
Thank God they went to church and
spared themselves the trauma!
When they got into their apartment
the flat had been raided!
The third time, their car was stolen!
That was the last straw
They decided to move away from the area!
The caretaker lady asked them
why they were leaving their previous apartment
They told her what had been happening
She said "You guys are not so
smart! There are places you will
go to and get some charms to ward
off thieves!
Thieves? They should be afraid
to come near you!"
The woman proceeded to tell them
stories of how she had used fetish
means to protect herself and
properties from thieves!
She said no thief would dare touch
anything that belonged to her!
WOW!
Her husband became weary of
renting the house
He felt it would be like jumping from 
frying pan to fire
With the thieves, they knew it was 
physical losses they were dealing
with
But with this woman, it seemed
it would be much more than that!
But she was tired of the insecurity!
She had not been able to sleep 
comfortably for months because 
of the robbery incidences!
She needed them to move!
She prevailed on her husband!
They moved!
Two weeks after they moved, her
husband was transferred to Minna,
Niger state by the government
agency he was working with!
She was gainfully employed with 
a bank and couldn't move to the
new post of assignment with
her husband
She was also three months old 
pregnant 
She invited her immediate younger
sister to live with her, so that she will 
not be alone!
The strange dreams started about two 
months after they moved into the house!
She would see herself doing all sorts 
of strange things
Weird things!
Being chased
Being harassed 
Fighting with all sorts of people
Arguing with the caretaker lady
Standing before an ocean and
unable to get to the other side
despite her desire to do so
She saw herself being fed all sorts
of strange food
She always woke up weak, lethargic, 
sapped of strength 
and weary!
It was as if she was always put to
work during the night!
Other people would sleep and wake
up refreshed, not her!
She assumed it was due to the 
pregnancy!
Then her younger sister started 
complaining too!
Her period, which had always been
very regular didn't show up!
She was having strange dreams
and seeing herself in the company
of very strange beings doing
all sorts of weird things!
Her sister woke up one morning
with rashes all over her body
They went to the hospital
Doctors examined them and they
ran all the necessary tests
The doctors told them there was
nothing in the blood works that
indicated anything was wrong
Then the doctor asked them if
they recently changed their where
they were living!
The doctor asked the question 
for scientific reasons
He was looking at environmental
factors that could have caused
the change!
They told him about the change
of houses and all
The doctor advised them to move
to another house
He said it might be the water or
something in the environment that
they were allergic or reacting to!
When they got home, the caretaker
lady was waiting for them!
She was standing right by their door
They greeted her
She asked them if all was well
They said everything was fine
She said "You didn't inform me
that you were pregnant by the 
time you were moving into this
house"
She was shocked
She didn't know she was supposed
to make her pregnancy a public
service announcement
She told the caretaker lady as
much
The caretaker lady said "I belonged
to a society of strong women,
it is a good society! Women of all
walks of life are members!
We help fellow women by 
empowering them against the
evils of this world!
It was while we were having our
last meeting that it was pointed
out to me that only one of you
is liable to bleed monthly because
the other one is pregnant!
I was shocked!
I thought we agreed that you needed 
help and protection
and I expected you to have told
me that you are pregnant so that
I can make provisions for your
baby too!"
Her legs started shaking
She didn't understand what the 
caretaker lady was saying
"When did I tell you that I needed
your help and protection, ma?"
She asked
The caretaker lady was surprised
by her question
"You told me when you came to rent
this house that robbers were disturbing 
you and I offered to help
you out" replied the caretaker lady
"How have you helped me? Did you
not collect the rent when we paid?
Was the solution we wanted not
to leave the former house where
we were living in? Did I ask you
to recruit me and my sister into
witchcraft society?
At the mention of witchcraft society, 
the caretaker lady jumped
to her feet!
"I am not a witch! I didn't recruit you 
into witchcraft! All i did was
offer protection and help!
If you are not interested, you should
have made yourself clear from the
beginning. 
But now that I know your 
stand, I am washing my hands off you! 
I am sorry I tried to help! I took
your lament as a cry for help!"
The caretaker lady left!
She seethed all day!
What audacity!
She rented a house and suddenly
she was in the middle of a troubling
reality?
She called her husband immediately
He told her to call the estate agent
and get another house
Her younger sister wanted to leave
that very day
Her younger sister was badly
spooked!
They had to move to a nearby
hotel that night!
Her younger sister refused to
sleep in that house!
They found another house and
moved within two weeks
The experience with the cobwebs
stopped
They slept better and the persistent
dreams stopped
But her sister's period was still missing
And the doctor told her that her
baby (fetus) was not growing and 
would have to be evacuated!
She called her husband 
He ranted at her!
"You caused all this!
It is on you! I told you i don't
want to move to that house!
I told you I didn't feel at peace
in my spirit about renting that
house! We have lost so much!
It is better to be robbed by thieves 
than to get involved in this type
of diabolical nonsense!
You wouldn't listen
You call yourself a Christian
You are even a worker in church
You sometimes speak in tongues
Yet, you cannot pray for more
than five minutes before 
sleeping off
You cannot fast till noon
All you do is gist and chat
You watch zee world all-day
You sleep and eat
And you lack discernment
Now I am paying a steep price
for your obstinacy!
I am swimming in the miry clay
with you!
I have lost almost a million naira
in cash!
We paid for a rent of two years and
you had to move out after three
months!
You have been to the hospital over
and over with bills rising every day
Now we are going to lose our baby
Your sister's period has become the
solar eclipse
I had to cough out so much
All my savings are gone
All because I married a wife who
sees only with her feelings!"
She was stung by his words!
He was brutal and wicked!
She understood the part she
played in their predicament but
he could have been nicer!
She suddenly felt all alone and 
angry!
She wore a pair of jeans, packed her 
hair and went to the caretaker
lady's house
She met the caretaker lady by the
taps of water close to the entrance
of the house!
She locked the woman by the
blouse!
"Witch! You witch! You have
bewitched my home and 
taken our money! 
And now you have stopped my 
baby from growing!
You are a witch and there is 
nothing you can do to me!
You took my younger sister's
period!
You are a wicked woman!"
By this time people have gathered,
some tried to separate them but
she wouldn't let go!
The caretaker woman's children
heard the commotion and rushed
outside
It became a fight
She gave as much as she could
The caretaker woman and her 
two daughters pounced on her
She started bleeding right there!
She was rushed to the hospital
Her younger sister got the
caretaker lady and her two
daughters arrested!
Her husband rushed back to 
Lagos!
He was very sorry!
He knew she acted as a result
of what he said to her on the
phone
The police compelled the caretaker
lady and her daughters to pay for
her hospital bill before they were
bailed!
She was still legally an occupant
of the apartment, so the police
couldn't accuse her of coming to
the house to start a fight!
It was the case of two neighbors
fighting!
The following week, she was 
invited to the alternative dispute
resolution office
The caretaker lady refunded her
rent in full and she was warned
never to approach the house
again!
She lost her pregnancy!
Her sister lost her period
but she got her rent back!
They moved on!
But the deep issues persisted
She started praying
Going from prophet to prophet
Moving from spiritualist to
spiritualist
Everyone told her she was being
afflicted by witchcraft
Nobody offered a concrete solution
She was given soaps to bathe with
She was told to put a mirror in
a bucketful of her bathwater and
pour it in the middle of the road
She was told to take a red lizard,
speak some words to it and kill
it with her bare hands!
She did everything!
The problem persisted!
She couldn't conceive
Her sister also couldn't find her
period!
Another thing she noticed was
that she and her sister started
looking older than their age
Even growing excessive grey
hair all over their bodies
They were in bondage!
The dreams were terrible
They were like ogres, serving
wicked hunchbacks!
A friend told her about the

She had to try him out!
She had been barren for five
years and was very desperate!
All she wanted was a baby!
Her younger sister has a suitor
and had continued the relationship
in fear because she hid the period
thing from her man!

who dwell in Zion?
What is their thought pattern
and way of life?
Hw do they speak and see reality?
He opened her eyes to see the
scripture!
She picked her phone and called
her younger sister
When her younger sister stepped
into the conference room, she
started feeling uneasy
She asked for the restroom
She disappeared for about fifteen
minutes!
When she returned to the conference
room, she was smiling!
She said "As soon as I stepped in
to this conference room, I felt my
period coming! That was why I ran
to the ladies!"
Wow!
Her sister started crying!

smiled!
Was it not written that upon Mount
Zion there shall be deliverance, 
holiness, and possession of possessions?

blessed them
They both prayed in the spirit
for about an hour
They left his office at around 2 PM
One month later, she was at
at the Night of Glory vigil
with her husband!
She came with the result of her
pregnancy test!
It was positive!

There are many people i know who
says "A prophet told me this", 
"A prophet told me that" and yet
they are still in bondage!
Why couldn't the prophet solve the
problem if indeed he diagnosed
it right?
Stop being gullible!
Zion citizens are subject only
to the spirit of Christ!
