Mindful

She left Owerri at 5 am
She wanted to get to Lagos as 
early as possible 
She would naturally take a flight
But her Managing Director insisted
the company couldn't afford it and
that she had to travel by road with
the company trucks 
She didnt like it
She was the company's procurement
officer and had a right to a better
mode of transportation
The roads are not safe
She was a lady
An approximately ten-hour drive was
sheer torture for her
But she had to do it
She waited a long time to get the job
It is a well-paying job
She also got to travel and was paid
travel allowance to augment her pay
She really thanked God for the job
Her previous job had paid her a
paltry 25,000 Naira per month
salary
She got the job right out of the
University 
She took it believing she needed the
experience to land a better job
She was just twenty-one years old
at the time
And then the Managing Director started
making passes at her
Over a salary that was just a little
better than the allowance she got as
a Youth Corper
She resisted him as much as she could
but when it became obvious that his
sausage would have to go"up her fanny"
for her to keep her job
She resigned!
She gave her life to Jesus as a teenager
and there were lines she would never
cross!
That was one of them!
She stayed at home for eighteen
months before she got another job
The job was a case of being at the
right place at the right time 
She went to see her elder sister
at the bank where she worked
A man also came to the bank
to see her sister regarding a loan
Her sister was walking out of the 
banking hall with the man when
she walked in
They met just by the elevator
Her sister greeted her in their dialect
The man was impressed
The man was also from their town
He asked her what she was doing
She said she was looking for a job
He offered her the position 
immediately
The only caveat was that she had
to relocate to Owerri from Lagos
She took it with joy
The salary was five times what
she earned in her previous job
The cost of living in Owerri was
far cheaper than that of Lagos
Plus she liked to travel
The job entails a lot of traveling 
As they set out on that journey
she prayed fervently that they
would have a smooth trip
She had heard so much about the
dangers of traveling by road in
the country
She had never experienced it before
Especially since she got the job
She had always traveled by air
The truck took off by 5 am
The journey was smooth for several hours
until they got to the outskirts of Benin
Then she saw something strange
A young lady, between the of 19 and 21
Crossed the road right in front of their
truck stark naked 
She had on her head, a calabash of sacrifice
inside the calabash, there was a huge local
lamp oozing thick black smoke
The lady's body was covered with black
sooth and whitish substance 
The lady crossed the road slowly and 
deliberately before she disappeared into
the forest by the other side of the road
The truck driver screamed as a strange
wind suddenly broke out inside the truck
She was shaken too but she broke out
in tongues
They had to park the truck by the roadside
and wait for the truck driver to recover
He was very uncomfortable and so
was she
After some time, he recovered and managed
to drive on till they got to the University
of Benin Teaching Hospital
He barely parked before he fainted
She rushed to the emergency ward
After much ado about nothing 
They got him out of the truck and 
rushed him into the hospital
He didn't make it!
He died within the hour!
She was feeling feverish all over
A sudden wave of weakness was
bursting to life within her
It was like a slow sap of her essence
She could feel it ebbing 
But she was powerless to stop it
She was determined not to die
She called her boss and told him what
had happened
Her boss asked her if she could still
make it to Lagos
He said he would book a flight and
meet her in Lagos
She got out of the hospital and got
into an inter-city vehicle
This time she chose a car and 
paid for the space of two passengers
so that she can have some room to
rest
She made it to Lagos by 3 pm
She dropped and took a taxi to the
hotel the company reserved for
her before she left Owerri
She waited patiently for her boss to
arrive
She knew something was wrong with her
She needed help
And the hospital will be powerless to 
help her
That Sunday afternoon, the Brother in
Jeans and T-shirt was at home with
his family
When the time was 3 pm
He felt a very strong urge to leave the
House
It wasn't strange
It wasn't always that the audible voice
of the Holy Spirit led him
Sometimes he would just feel a stirring
within him
He didn't know what it was 
But it wasn't to be ignored
He got into his car and drove
He didn't hold anything
He had his phones and he had his ATM cards
But not cash
He drove to Ikeja
The Holy Spirit stirred him towards the 
airport
He drove on until he got to the toll gate
He alighted from his car
He wanted to ask the toll gate officers
if he could pay the toll with the ATM card
A woman selling newspapers ran to him
and said "They will tow your vehicle,
why are you coming down from the vehicle"
He explained to her
She said "Get in the car and drive towards
me, I will pay your toll fees for you"
The woman paid
He drove through
In his mind, he saw a building
A huge hotel with a lot of cars parked within
He drove into Ajao Estate
He drove slowly
He knew there was something the Holy
Spirit wanted to be done
But he was being led step by step!
He drove on and on, slowly and prayerfully
He got to the Hotel he saw
He pressed the horn
The gate was opened
He drove into the compound
A sudden unease came over him
He had missed the cloud
He spoke with the security men
"I am sorry, i have to leave immediately!"
They opened the gate
He drove out
His peace was restored
He drove forward slowly
He parked on the street
The stirring was strong but he needed
to know the next step to take 
He stayed there praying silently
A security man walked up to the car
The man knocked his car window
He wound down the window
The man said "Good afternoon sir,
are you a Pastor?"
He said "I am a Christian brother, how
may I help you"
The man said "Sir, please we have an
emergency in the hotel
A young woman who lodged in about
thirty minutes ago
She is going, insane sir
She is talking to herself and behaving
somehow
The staff members were all looking
at her
She was not violent 
But we suspect that all these "ritualist
people" might have done something
to her sir
Can you come and see her?
He nodded!
The gateman opened the door of the 
building 
It was an unmarked guest house
He never would have driven in there
It was located right opposite the big
hotel in saw in his heart which he drove
into earlier
He got into the room and saw her
She was wearing a spaghetti top
Combat shorts and fluffy slippers
Her hair was plaited backward
her wig and other stuff were
neatly arranged on her bed and the
table by the bedside!
WOW!
She was seated on the floor
Her back leaning on the wall
She was muttering jibberish
He walked up to her and held her hand
He held her left hand with his left hand
He spoke in tongues for a while
She started calming down
Suddenly she vomited all over herself
He didn't release her hand
She retched and vomited
It all lasted for about ten minutes
The door of the room was left open
Two of the hotel attendants (Female)
Stood watching the drama!
When she was done
He pulled her up and said "It is over now
Go and shower! I will wait for you in
the reception"
She held his hand and shook her head
She didn't want him to leave
He nodded and told her he would
stay by her door until she had cleaned
up and changed her clothes
He stepped out
He was still praying in tongues
He didnt understand what had 
happened
He didn't know why he was led to her
He was an active participant in an
unfolding wonder
And he didn't even know the whole story
The Holy Spirit is very mysterious
sometimes!
He waited at the reception for thirty
minutes
She came to meet him there
He apologized for not waiting by
the door as promised
It made him look awkward
Appearance is everything in the
social media age
People are quick to appropriate
meaning to things even when they
don't understand what had happened
He had to be as wise as a serpent
and as gentle as a dove!
She had fully recovered
Her voice was clear
Her eyes were clear
She was very fine
She told him everything that
happened
She couldn't recollect anything that
happened from the moment she got
into the hotel until he arrived
It was the retching and vomiting that
she recollected!
Her boss eventually arrived by
6 pm
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt left
her with her boss a few minutes later
They exchanged phone numbers and 
promised to keep in touch
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
got back home around 8 pm
Another rare day of unusual wonder
He didn't hear from her for about 
a month
She called on a Wednesday afternoon
She said her boss started treating 
her as if she was mentally disabled
after the incidence
She said her boss started questioning her 
judgment and stylishly tried to demote
her from her position as the procurement
officer of the company
She protested and he sacked her!
She was broken and full of pain
He prayed with her
That the Holy Spirit would settle
her speedily!
He did!
She got a job in Lagos barely two 
weeks later
A job she didn't apply for at a 
multinational company

PS: The Holy Spirit is indeed mindful
of all his children
I have seen him rise to the help of many
who didn't think they had hope
There are many today who the Holy
Spirit intervened in their lives just
as they were about to commit suicide or
walk into danger!
I have seen Him rend  the heavens
and shake the earth for one of His
children
I have seen Him move the immovable
to preserve one, just one, of his sheep
He is mindful of you!
He has loved you with an everlasting
love!
He is mindful of you!
