NEW WINE, OLD WINESKIN

I was praying yesterday and conversing with the Holy Spirit, telling him how beautiful He was and how I wanted more..
He reminded me of a conversation I had with a loved one and he wanted me to share...

So, this loved one led me to Christ at a young age many moons ago.

She's quite old school and had a very strong religious mindset, but she also came in touch with my teacher and began walking in the reality of the Holy spirit, and she was quite excited.

She’s doing a lot of unlearning and relearning. Anyways, she was telling me of an issue she had and she was like even though a word of prophecy has gone out that that issue was settled, she was still going to pray and fast about it. I now asked her, "Did the holy spirit ask you to fast?" She was like, "No".

So, I prodded, “Ok, why are you fasting then?” She replied, "That's how I was churched" I'm like "ah!" 

I know somehow some children of anarchy might misread my post. I am NOT against fasting, but only if directed by the spirit. It helps immensely to crucify your flesh and for your spirit to gain ascendancy. But I make bold to say most fasts people embark on are just hunger strikes.

Me, I do not do what the Holy Spirit doesn't ask me to do, no matter how religious it sounds. So, my loved one said she understood, but quoted this scripture to me, "This kind goeth out not but by prayer and fasting" Matthew 17:19-21 and asked me to explain it.

Now this scripture is quoted a lot in deliverance circles and used to justify that you cannot break some situations or cast out devils without fasting. But if you go through the New Testament, you will notice that Jesus only made that statement once and not again.

 So, building a doctrine around one verse can be shaky. Also, Jesus made this statement before his death, burial and resurrection. After his resurrection, his language changed and he told his disciples that in his name they would cast out demons, heal the sick, speak in new tongues, etcetera" Mark 16:17.

Jesus had already gone into hell, whipped the devil and taken the keys to death and Hades. He currently has the keys right now. Now after He made this statement in Mark 16:17, He ascended into heaven and the Holy Spirit came down and the apostles moved in mighty signs and wonders spoiling the works of the devil easily.

The fasting they did was just to minister unto the lord, not to break any works of the devil. They basically trampled over all his works. Apostle Paul took it further in Colossians 2:15, he said, "Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made an open show of them in public, triumphing over them in it". Then Paul now went on in Ephesians and described what happened when Jesus resurrected. Ephesians 1:21- We were raised with him and are NOW seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above ALL principalities, powers, might and dominion. That's where we are! After his death and resurrection there was no more mention of "this kind goes not except by..." any longer". Also, some old translations of the Bible don't have that particular verse. Some translations basically read that the disciples couldn't cast out that devil mentioned in Matthew because of their unbelief.

The Holy spirit showed me this and asked me to share.

You have authority over ALL principalities and powers due to what Jesus did. Trying to add "extra" actives especially when not led by the spirit is you invalidating what Jesus did.

Please fast if the Holy Spirit asks you to, but you don't need to do that to cast out any devil or break any yoke.

Imagine you want to pray for someone and you say, "Please, wait o, let me fast 3 days" but the person needs urgent deliverance right now? 

I'm sure an angel will be beside you with an oraimo cord waiting to wipe you for neck.

The name of Jesus is enough.

The power of the Holy spirit is enough.

He has given you authority.

He's placed ALL things under your feet.

You trample over serpents, scorpions and over ALL the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

On a funny note, even though this dear sister acknowledged that the Holy Spirit didn't ask her to fast, she still did it ooo...religion ????????????. She said the Holy Spirit will meet her at her level!

He will though and I love her dearly. ????
