He didn’t know how not to take offense 
Everybody offends him 
There was no room for navigation with him 
You may be his best friend one minute 
and his worst enemy the next 
His mother watched him grow that way

They left him like that 
Making allowance for his weakness 
Reminding one another often that

If his mother offends him, he would 
refuse to pick her calls and keep malice 
for several days! 
He did the same with friends and relatives 
They said it was how he is
And he is Mr. Never do wrong 
Pompous and arrogant to a fault! 
He will never say sorry when he is wrong 
He is not matured enough to apologize 
He will just move on as if he did no wrong 
But if you offend him, you must carry a 
sacrifice from the middle earth to Sauron 
on mount Moria
He was the first child of his mother 
His parents were divorced 
They said it was the divorce that damaged him! 
He went through a traumatic experience 
and got stuck in his little world where he plays 
“Godzilla” 
His mother failed to help him and did what 
most mothers conveniently did
She passed him on to another woman, 
hoping another type of love will change him! 
He met the woman in Lagos 
She was a pleasant, cheerful, big-hearted 
and loving young lady 
He could be pleasant on his good days and 
he showed her his wonderful side as they 
courted 
Nobody warned her!
He was the kind of guy that his mother 
ought to hang a permanent “Caveat Emptor” 
collar on his neck! 
Like a Beware of rabid dog sign! 
But his mother didn’t 
The young lady fell in love and he proposed! 
He was a banker and she was a lecturer 
It was a wonderful combination on the
surface! 
As soon as they got married, he was
transferred out of the country! 
She stayed back home 
They became that kind of couple that 
sees each other for conjugal visits three 
times a year! 
The distance didn’t shield her from his 
madness! 
When they have a disagreement 
He would block her on all the social media 
platforms and even her phone calls! 
She would be reduced to sending him emails 
He would keep malice for months 
Talk to her in a manner that she would 
begin to question if there was any value 
in her as a human being! 
It was his way 
She had to cope
After five years of marriage, 
He was posted back home 
They began to live together as a couple 
Things became worse! 
She had two children already and was 
pregnant with a third child 
He refused to let her get a maid or any help 
He refused to help her out on the 
home front Mr. Macho!
He stopped giving her money for the upkeep 
of the house 
He claimed she was earning salary and 
should spend it on the upkeep of the house 
He took care of the rent and school fees 
She had to cope with her pregnancy, 
cook, wash, prepare the children, 
tidy the house, help out with
Homework, study, write examinations, 
go to work and take care of all his needs 
too! 
He refused to assist her 
He would say “You are useless to me, 
lazy and you are not even fine! 
If you think I will descend so low as to 
bathe the children for you,
you are Joking” 
He was a mad dog
He threatened to beat her into a coma 
several times 
Told her he doesn’t want to hear her 
voice in the house 
Told her she had no respect for trying 
to explain why she took certain 
decisions! 
It was too much! 
It was not love 
It was not the kind of marriage she
 dreamt about at all!
She reached out to the brother in 
Jeans and T-shirt 
She said “My husband must not know 
I am seeking for your help or intervention” 
He claims to be a born again Christian! 
Last week, because I was ten minutes
 late on sunday morning because I had 
to prepare the children for church
He threw us (myself and the two children)
out of his car! 
I had to record his excessively abusive words 
and play it for my family before they 
understood that I was in danger!

She said her husband would never agree

She reached out to his mother! 
His mother had grown weary of their 
constant fight especially because her own 
son would take it out on her!
She didn’t want to be caught in the middle! 
His mother said “You too be submissive, 
do whatever he told you and show him 
the respect he is demanding” 
That was the cop-out! 
His mother had seen the weak one and 
dumped the vitriol on her! 
The children were in for it too! 
His temper was legendary and the children 

were always scared! 
She despaired for life and even though 
she didn’t want to have a failed marriage, 
she was dying! 
He was heartless and didn’t even seem to 
see that she was pregnant and overworked! 
Emotionally, she was drained!
 That same night, he threw her out of the 
house! 
He just told her to pack her stuff and leave! 
When she didn’t obey him, he started 
packing her things into her car himself! 
The next morning, her husband called 
her elder brother! 
Her elder brother drove to their house 
and helped her pack her things!
The farther away from the house they drove 
The more she felt the steaming sunlight and 
breathed better 
Even his mother said they needed a break! 
She got to her brother’s house and took stock! 
Suddenly, she didn’t feel like going back! 
It had been six years of hell!
On the day her husband told her to pack 
her bag and leave the house! 
Her children were with her! 
Her husband had been acting weird all 
week and she had been walking on 
eggshells hoping he would come out of 
his dark mood! 
It came to a head when he went to
But his own gas cooker and started 
cooking his own meals! 
She knew his malice had grown in rank! 
Her children also noticed his weird behavior 
and kept quiet around him! 
As soon as he came in that day, 
she said “welcome” 
It was all the trigger he needed! 
He started screaming...
When her children couldn’t bear it 
He told them to go to bed! 
The children shrilled off into their room 
It was quite a sight! 
Later that night, after she had packed 
her stuff 
She went to check her children in their 
room! 
The older one was cringing in one corner
Face streaming with tears! 
They had seen the beast and coped with it 
But their father had become a monster 
The next morning, the older child ran to her 
“Mummy don’t let Daddy get angry again! 
Don’t talk again in the house! 
Don’t greet him! 
Just sit down and play with us” 
It broke her heart! 
Wow!!
Her younger child just held on to her! 
She was three years old and sensed 
something strange would happen! 
Her husband insisted she cannot 
have the children! 
Her brother tried to reason with him 
But he was spoiling for war!
She left without her children! 
It was a painful departure
Later in the day she sent him a message 
“What do we do about the children? 
How do we cope?” 
Suddenly he didn’t mind getting his 
hands dirty! 
He didn’t mind doing school runs 
He didn’t mind having a help at home 
He provided for himself all the comforts 
he denied her out of spite!
He told her she can see the children 
during the weekend 
Since their school was closer to the house 
and she had moved far away! 
She said it is fine In her heart she 
had felt they would come back together 
after a short time 
But as the clock ticked, in tears and sorrow, 
she realized
Going back without ensuring he got help 
would be like walking into a casket! 
He needed help! 
The next day, he sent her a message that 
since she doesn’t have her own house yet, 
and he doesn’t want her coming over to 
his house, she cannot have the children 
even for the weekend!
What!!! 
She called the brother in Jeans and T-shirt! 
She told him everything 
She was hurting and it felt as if her leg 
had been cut off from underneath her! 
He told her to relax! 
They prayed! 
The following week, her husband was accused 
of fraud at his place of work! 
It came out Of nowhere! 
The case escalated wickedly within 
a week! 
He was locked up and she had to 
go back home to fend for her children 
She called the brother in Jeans and T-shirt 
She said “He is not a fraudster, he is a 
very honest man! I don’t understand!”

The Holy Spirit takes us through some 
seasons in order to break us! 
Her husband’s had a client whom he 
referred to a team member who 
defrauded the man and took off to unknown 
shores! 
He fraudster used her husband’s codes 
and all to perpetuate the fraud! 
Her husband was sure he was innocent 
Everybody voucher for him but the police 
refused to release him until the real 
criminal was arrested! 
Her husband was in trouble 
After three weeks in detention, 
her husband had had enough! 
Her husband called her and asked 
her to please help him! 
She called the brother in Jeans and T-shirt 
“Please sir, help my husband, 
he is dying in jail! 
Please, I have never seen him so humble! 
He was literally crying! 
Please sir! 
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told her 
to ask him if he was ready to go for 
counseling!
If he would get help to deal with his 
emotions and temper tantrums! 
She didn’t know what one had to do 
with the other but she asked her 
husband 
Her husband agreed 
He willingly signed an agreement 
and promised to meet with the
 Brother in Jeans and T-shirt once he 
got released!
That night, the fraudster was found! 
He had left the country for a neighboring 
country from where he was to travel to 
Europe but he was swindled by those 
who organized his travel documents! 
The airport officials arrested him with 
his fake document 
The airport officials caught him
Three days later he was back in the country! 
Her husband was released! 
The case against him was dismissed! 
He resigned few days later! 
He has had enough! 
He met with the brother in Jeans and T-shirt 
They talked! 
He had always been a believer, his reality
was just a skewed one!
They prayed together and he promised
to do better! 
They met with a counselor It helped! 
His journey to becoming a better man 
for himself and the society and a better 
husband to his wife took eight months! 
Their children saw a father to be proud of! 
He liked the freer version of
Himself 
Even his mother and siblings 
were shocked by the transformation!

Please, kill that ego 
You are not a dictator and you are not a god! 
Your wife is not a second class citizen 
or your slave 
Be one! 
Act as one 
Love as one! 
Be a good example to your children!
"Hard guy" does not have a place in marriage 
The home is for the two of you! 
Your home must be a picture of heaven! 
God expects this! 
Please help each other
Both of you should get help as soon 
as you notice the pattern! 
Dont keep hoping without acting!
