Getting a husband was a battle! 
It was as if all the men in the world, 
both married and single, even the widowers, 
made a secret pact to keep away from her
 She didn't know what she had to do
to get a husband 
She had worked on herself 
She was willing and ready 
She was thirty-four years old 
She was a medical doctor 
She was fair in complexion, carried herself
 with dignity and she was beautiful! 
She had always kept an open door in her 
communication with men 
She didn't give any mixed signals 
She wasn't proud
She was not desperate 
She did not pretend either 
She just wasn't picked 
She didn't know why 
She convinced herself her time would come 
She cried herself to sleep on many nights 
Eventually, she was approached by 
one of her patients 
A forty year old married woman 
She couldn't have guessed where the 
conversation would lead to  
The lady didn't mince words 
"My husband has decided to marry a 
second wife, I am happy with the decision 
and i have prayed about it 
I have also discussed it with him! 
He likes you and had given me the go-ahead 
to discuss the possibilities with you 
Will you marry us? Be my second? 
She didn't know what to say 
The woman's husband was a well to do businessman 
He was into cement distributorship 
He had always been very polite and courteous 
towards her 
He didn't give her any hint 
She told the woman she would think about it 
The next morning, the woman's husband 
Showed up 
Of course, he was striking while the iron was still hot
 They all belonged to a religion 
which allowed him to marry many wives 
and also empowered her to be his second wife 
It was not a question of morality 
It was a question of choice 
She was lonely 
She convinced herself 
Her family members loved the idea 
She didn't have any reason to hope for 
less than the best 
The ceremony was elegant and quiet 
Her "senior wife" was extremely supportive 
and acted as an elder sister 
She was marrying into a family of six 
Her senior wife already had four children!
She got pregnant the very month after 
the wedding 
She was apprehensive and felt like an 
outsider in the marriage 
Not because of anything her husband or

just settle down to the fact that he 
equally belonged to her after they 
got married

the marriage was a blessing

She finally belonged! 
She started to settle into the marriage! 
Her husband was a gentle and very caring man 
He did everything she desired, even in bed 
He was very sensitive to her needs 
She delivered her baby! 
Her "senior wife" came to the hospital 
the day after she delivered and gave 
her a popular locally made plantain chip 
"Eat this at 1 AM tonight! 
Eat it now while you are still bleeding from 
the birth! 
You now know the pain of motherhood, 
you are now ready to learn how to protect your 
children from the evils of this world!" 
She was born and bred in Abeokuta 
They all still live in Abeokuta 
She was not a novice 
She knew what was being insinuated! 
She told her senior wife she would do as instructed! 
She was cordial. 
Senior wife left! 
Later that night, she flushed the plantain chips 
down the toilet 
She slept like a baby Senior wife returned the 
next morning "Why didn't you eat the chips?" 
The senior wife asked 
"I ate it" She replied! 
The senior wife said "You will never have
 another child until you do my bidding"  
Years went by! 
She never got pregnant again 
She wanted more children and tried 
everything medically and traditionally 
that she could to get more children 
She was told to by the herbalists to 
mend fences with the person she offended! 
Her husband had no clue what was going on 
Eight years after her first child, 
the senior wife came to her room one night! 
She said "You seemed to be comfortable 
with this one lamp 
What if I snuff out its light? 
What will you do then? Poor you! 
She had goosebumps all over her body
 She rushed to her son's room He was alive  
She started living in fear 
She couldn't even imagine losing her son 
She needed help and fast She reached out

She had become a child of God! 
She can no longer be afflicted 
Her son was safe! 
Wow! 
She got pregnant that month! 
The senior wife couldn't believe it! 
When the result of the scan showed that 
she was going to have twins 
The senior wife went to their husband and
 said "she has been cheating! 
This is not your baby! 
There are no twins in your bloodline! 
The accusations poured like rain 
It was war  
She delivered! 
They did paternity test 
The babies belonged to her husband 
Senior wife said "She had converted to Christianity, 
she now prays the Christian way" 
Her husband asked if it was true. 
She told her husband it was how 
she was able to conceive after many unfruitful efforts  
Their husband said it was okay! 
Senior wife said she cannot live in the same 
house with a Christian! 
Their husband said the senior wife was 
free to do whatever she wanted but the 
house belonged to him and he will like 
to keep his family under one roof 
Senior wife left the house 
By this time, she had become Holy Ghost filled 
and was praying in the spirit everyday 
Fiery darts were thrown at them but they 
had no effect! 
Senior wife's children started drawing close to her 
Three of the senior wife's children and 
her husband gave their lives to Christ Glory!
 Senior wife filed for divorce 
The divorce became final on 13th June 2019 
Light was separated from darkness!
