Strong Man

He was the strong man 
The one everybody in the office quaked before 
He was in the accounts department 
He also managed procurement 
Company policy was against one 
personnel handling both but...
Nobody dare speak 
He was a god of sorts 
As managerial staff changed from season to season 
He dominated the landscape
Staff members grumbled and complained 
He did some things that were obviously and 
flagrantly against the rule 
Petitions were written anonimously
Petitions died a natural death 
He didn't even get a query 
Who would dare! 
He joined the office as a clerk ten years earlier 
He had built a fortress over the years 
Warrior!
Those who dared him regretted it 
Their former MD had a face-off with him on a Friday! 
Words were exchanged 
ultimatums were issued
He told the MD he would wait till Monday morning
 before gifting him a wheelchair 
By Monday morning the MD had a stroke on 
his way to the office 
Everybody cringed with fear!
When he was due for promotion and his 
previous boss refused to retire 
He told the man to write his will or retire! 
The man thought it was a joke 
That night, the man got some strange visitors 
Three women from the community 
The man smartly retired and recommended 
him for promotion
Even an expatriate from India who dared him 
got a strange report from home and 
had to leave within a week of their clash! 
He was heavily backed by extra-mundane forces 
People tread carefully around him 
Those who grumbled did so in whispers 
Nobody wanted to get in his crosshairs
When she was employed, she was poached 
from a commercial bank 
She was leading the marketing team of her branch
 and consistently brought in whales with 
their mammoth accounts! 
Her father was a very rich and connected man 
She leveraged on this to land many lucrative accounts
It was her performance that impressed the CEO! 
They were an investment bank and needed her 
to deliver big clients 
She was told to name her salary and commission 
She was made the Head of marketing 
She got to work! Within two weeks she landed the 
deal of a lifetime 
A blue whale!
It was a landed property, located in the 
middle of a high brow area, owned by a family 
for many generations! 
The family wanted her bank to partner with 
them in developing the land! 
The profit margin was in billions 
They already had corporate organizations 
buying into the project
The deal was so good, she was given a raise 
on the spot during the management meeting 
The CEO sang her praises to the high heavens 
She would earn a commission worth retiring on
 It was her set time! 
Until she got to the office the next morning 
Her MD told her he was very sorry
The deal was still on but she would no 
longer be the one in charge of the account 
The account had been unanimously given 
to the strong man to handle by the management 
of the organization! 
She was shocked to the bone! 
The strong man was not a marketer! 
He was an accountant! 
What!!
She went to the other management staff 
They spoke in whispers 
She had only been in the organization for a 
short time 
She did not know what was really going on 
She couldn't help it 
When she got to her desk, she wept bitterly 
Her colleagues pitied and consoled her 
She felt robbed!
She wrote her resignation letter 
She still had accounts she could leverage upon 
to get a job in another bank 
She called her husband 
She told him everything 
Her husband had hoped they would be able 
to get their own apartment from the real estate deal 
They had discussed it with the developers and
factored it into their commission
Her husband told her not to resign 
Her husband called the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt 
He explained everything 
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt called the wife 
She explained everything 
By this time, some other marketers had told her
 more about the strong man's reach and influence
They decided to pray! 
Later that night, they set the stars in courses 
of conflict 
A takeover was effected 
A take down was confirmed She went to the 
office very early the next morning 
She was planning to act on her faith and 
tender a latter of resignation 
She felt she had to!
When they got to the staff meeting 
Strong man was not there 
The meeting went on and on 
Strong man did not arrive 
Five minutes to the end of the meeting 
Strong man strolled in 
The MD challenged him "Why we're you just coming in" 
Strong man was not used to being challenged 
What?!!!
Voices were raised 
Strong man was rude 
MD was furious 
Tempers flared 
MD ordered strong man to leave the office premises 
Strong man refused 
MD called in the security guards of the office
Strong man went into fisticuffs with security men 
Everything was recorded by the CCTV 
People were injured
It was war!
The next morning, strong man tendered 
his resignation letter 
It was totally against the rules for any staff 
member to lay a hand on another 
Strong man would have been sacked! 
The MD called her and apologized 
The real estate account was returned to her 
She didn't have to resign!
She called her husband 
They celebrated 
They called the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt 
They blessed the name of the Lord

The couple now lives in their property 
on the real estate project 
Charms and enchantments must surely fail
