Abominable Attractions

Her father had a first wife
The first wife left for reasons
nobody told his mother
The first wife had three daughters
and a son
She went away with her daughters
and left the son behind
Her father and the son had been 
living together for two years before
her father met her mother
The two families made their enquiries
carefully
According to her mother, an investigation
was carried out to determine why
his first wife left him
Eventually the families allowed the 
wedding to proceed
She was born one year later
By the time she was five, her mother
had given birth to three other children
two girls and a boy
Her mother was a trader who dealt in
fresh agricultural produce which varies
from season to season
She bought corn from farmers and sold
same off to poultries in bulk
(Their neighbourhood had a lot of poutries
at the time) 
Her mother also sold bags of charcoal to
the poultries which they use to keep their
birds warm in the cold weather
For this reason, her mother traveled
a lot
Her mother goes to the farms to meet her
Suppliers to book products and sometimes
to pay them deposits for fresh supplies
Whenever her mother traveled, her
mother's immediate younger sister would
come around to stay with them
Her mother's immediate younger sister
was married to a carpenter
The marriage was two years old at the
time
She and her husband were a poor but 
they were getting by
Since the trips took two to three days every
forthnight and sometimes every week
Her mother's younger sister came around
a lot
She was a nice and very caring woman
Unlike her mother who was business oriented
and cared very little for the home and the 
children's welfare
Her mother's younger sister was very homely
As a person, she prefers the company of
her mother's younger sister to that of her
mother 
Her mother's younger sister cooks well,
helps them with their home works, treats
them as if they were her children and 
genuinely loves them
Months after her mother's younger sister
started coming to their house
God answered her prayers
She got pregnant and the family 
rejoiced
She delivered a baby boy and two 
years later she had another baby
boy
They all grew up together
Her mother was the enterpreneur
Her Aunty was the homemaker
Her father was the loving provider
The children including the son left

behind by the first wife were all
brought up in a loving atmosphere
Everything was perfect
Her father became an elder in the 
church
Her mother was equally made a 
deaconess
When she was fifteen years old
Her mother's younger sister came to
the house crying in the middle of the
night
She told everybody her poor carpenter
of a husband has accused her of infidelity
She didn't know where the attack of the
devil came from but he had insisted that
she must bring her two sons to their
village in Benin to determine if they were
bastards or not!
As a believer, she felt it would be wrong to 
subject her children to such a fetish practise
but her husband had insisted that if she
didn't bring the children, it means she had
been cheating on him and he wanted an
end to the marriage!
Her father took it up
He told her mother's younger sister to
go and get an accommodation
He paid for it and moved her aunty
and his children there
Her mother and the family supported
her father's action
Her sister's husband was a very poor 
drunk who didn't provide for the family
in any way!
He had no right to call himself a father!
Apart from the sperm he donated for
the birth of the children, he had no hand
in their welfare from pregnancy till that
day!
The marriage was one of those mistakes
people make and then try to cope with
Most of the time, the band aid will have to
be ripped off eventually!
Her parents took over the welfae of the
children
Her father also placed her mother's 
younger sister on a healthy monthly 
salary
The bubble bust one day when she returned
from school (She had gained admission
into the University at the age of 
seventeen, did her registration the 
previous week and had to dash home 
to pick some documents she forgot)
She found her Father and her mother's
younger sister making love 
Her mother had travelled as usual
All the children had gone off to school
and nobody should have been home
except them!
It was a shocking sight!
They saw her!
Both of them saw her at the same time
They didn't act troubled or startled
When her aunt wanted to move
Her father touched her with his left
hand and said "calm down love"
as if it was the most natural thing in
the world for her to see
Everything suddenly made sense to her
The children her mother's younger sister
had belonged to her father
Her mother's younger sister was like
her father's second wife
And the reason her father wasn't mad 
at her mother's independence streak
which even the children found unnerving
was because he found himself a 
substitute wife in her mother's younger
sister!
She picked the document she went 
home to pick
Her father got out of bed, and calmly
(Without any remorse or apology)
gave her some money for her transport
fare back to school!
She went to school totally troubled
She didn't dare tell anybody but
she was sure there would be dire
repercussions spiritually
Didn't the Bible say partners should
not cheat on each other?
Didn't the Bible say the marriage bed 
should be honourable and undefiled?
Didn't the Bible say a man should not
marry two sisters at the same time?
She tried as much as possible to take
her mind off it
She graduated and got a job
Her siblings (From the first wife, her
mother and her mother's younger
sister all graduated and were
gainfully employed)
None of them got a husband or a wife
They had every other thing
She got worried when she clocked 33
without making any headway maritally
She started praying and fasting
She got a job offer in Port-harcourt
Her elder brother (The son of the first
wife was living and working in 
Port-Harcourt at the time)
She went to stay with him during 
the interview period
Somehow they got too close and
they had sex
What!
It was not as if she was a virgin
But it was the last thing ever she
could ever consider would happen
to her
It was as if a spirit descended upon
the two of them and locked them
into a strange reality
She was talking to him about a lack 
of suitors and he was also lamenting
about being jilted over and over by
ladies who ordinarily ought to jump
into marriage with him considering
his financial status and all
It was just a bad night
But they did it again and again
It was as if they had both thrashed
their senses
She returned to Lagos
She cried for many nights and pleaded
for forgiveness of sin
Such an error in judgment was 
unpardonable but she cried for mercy
all the same!
One month later, she got the job!
The job offered her not only more money
but a better opportunity in life
She must take it
But she knew if she went to 
Port-Harcourt
They would simply continue where they
stopped
Then her younger sister called her
in the middle of the night to tell
her something strange happened
between her and one of the sons
of her Mother's younger sister!
They were both lawyers and attended
the annual MBA conference
He came to see her at her hotel room 
and one thing led to another
They had sex!
That was the point she realised what
was happening to them was not 
ordinary!
How can siblings be attracted to each
other that way?
She called the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
She told him the strangeness of their
reality
She was sure something was wrong!
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
met with the entire family 
They were believers but they attend
a church that placed very little emphasis
on the manifestation of the Holy Spirit
He told them the Holy Spirit is the
key to untangling knotty webs
They believed
He led them to Christ and got the family
filled with the Holy Spirit
When they were done praying 
He pronounced a blessing on the family
Reversing the effect of every mundane
and demonic curses in the name of 
Jesus!
Seven days later, the First wife called
their father out of the blue
She was sick and needed to make peace
She said she did something fetish to
him out of anger when they divorced
The charm was used to bind him and
his bloodline to abominable attractions
Wow!
He thanked her, forgave her and blessed
her!
She survived!

PS: Please do not underestimate the power
of the Holy Spirit 
You can be religious all you want but without
the Holy Spirit you will be powerless against
the devices of the evil one
Those of us who are walking with the 
Holy Spirit cannot really tell how many 
dangers we are rescued from everyday!
Even with all our murmurings and 
complaints
Let us appreciate the One who keeps us
from falling!
