Christ Consciousness

Christ Consciousness

In Colossians 1, the Apostle Paul spoke plainly when he explained the Gospel as it pertained to the Gentiles. I want you to understand the construction in the twenty-seventh verse: “…this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

A “mystery” connotes esoteric communication or language; something revealed, but only to a select few. That mystery, the Bible says, is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” What does this truth mean? First, it means glory revealed, glory realized, glory manifested in your life! The reproaches are gone; you now have a life of honour and excellence. THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN YOU

I would say to God that everyone in the body of Christ would understand this! For example, when Christ is manifested in the life of a sinner, the power of sin is broken, and righteousness takes effect. When He’s manifested in the life of one who’s been bound, the chains are broken, and deliverance takes place. When He’s manifested in your life, everything that’s of darkness is dispelled.

It reminds me of Peter’s encounter with Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years, but he was a Christian. Peter didn’t have to pray for him; all he said was, “Aeneas, Christ makes you well: rise up!” Immediately, the man jumped off his sickbed (Acts 9:33-34).

If you’re sick in your body today, what you need is the manifestation of Christ in your physical body. The consciousness of the life of Christ in you will make you invincible and eternally triumphant.

Now that you’re born again, the life in you is the supernatural life of Christ. Christ has fully tabernacled in you! You’ve become His living headquarters; He looks through your eyes and walks with your legs because you’ve become His vessel, His body.

God wants you to have the consciousness that Christ lives in you. This consciousness will cause you to live supernaturally every day. You’ll no longer have fears or confusion in your life; you’ll no longer think that you’re limited, because you know that Christ in you is everything: It means glory realized, victory assured, success attained, and prosperity guaranteed.

When you have the Christ consciousness, you’ll be a master over circumstances. You’ll have no sense of lack or need, because to have Christ is to have everything. The whole world is yours. The Apostle Paul, mindful of this, affirmed in 1 Corinthians 3:21, “Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours.”

Paul’s consciousness of the indwelling Christ stood him out as an effective apostle of Jesus Christ. In Philippians 4:13, he said, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

In Colossians 1:29, he said, “Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.” You can do anything, be anything, prosper and excel exceedingly in every good work; it’s about your consciousness of the indwelling Christ!

Have you come to know that Christ literally lives in you? He dwells in your heart by faith, which means you don’t have to “feel” that Christ is in you; it has nothing to do with your feelings, because you live beyond the senses.

For example, 1 John 4:4 says, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” You ought, therefore, to have the consciousness that, come what may, you can never be defeated! You’re a victor and a champion, irrespective of the tests, trials, or challenges that may come against you.

Nothing can overwhelm you or put you down, because Christ, the greater One, lives in you. Have this consciousness.

The most important thing in your life now that you’re in Christ is your fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Until and unless this becomes a present-hour consciousness to you, your Christianity would be a form of religion. You have to know, love, and relate with the Holy Spirit as not only a real person, but also as the very essence of Christ and Christianity.

He’s the One who raised up Jesus from the dead, and without the resurrection, there would have been no salvation. Everything you’d ever want, admire, and love in Jesus is in the Holy Spirit.

The Lord Jesus is now in heaven; the Holy Spirit is here with us, and the beautiful thing about it is that we have Him (the Holy Spirit) in us and with us anywhere and everywhere. The disciples couldn’t take Jesus home with them; they were with Him in their waking hours, in their work hours, but when He went to heaven, they had to welcome the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit came to take the place of the ascended Christ. He lives in you today. So, be ever conscious of His presence in you; take advantage of His grace and power in your life. With Him, you can do anything; life becomes a glide and smooth sail in glory. Hallelujah!

Many people keep searching for a second anointing, a third anointing, a “double anointing,” and more. Yet the truth is simple: if you have received the Holy Spirit, you already have the anointing. What you need is to put to work or activate what you already have.

Some have been taught to believe that beyond receiving the Holy Spirit, there’s another special anointing that must come upon them in order to achieve certain results in life and ministry. They fast and pray, not because the Spirit is absent but because they assume what they have isn’t enough.

Then, when miracles begin to happen, they conclude that the “special anointing” has finally come. But the more you study the Scriptures, the clearer it is that such claims cannot be substantiated; they’re assumptions, not divine truths.

A simple observation exposes the flaw: many who claim they have received this “special anointing” still return again and again, seeking the same experience.

This shows that nothing new was received because there was nothing new to receive. You cannot receive what you already have.

If someone has not received the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is ministered to them, they can receive Him. But if they already have the Holy Spirit, there’s no separate “extra anointing” coming from heaven that’s different from the Spirit they already received.

The anointing is not something to be pursued in levels. The anointing is the Holy Spirit in you. When this becomes clear, the pursuit shifts from chasing experiences to walking in the consciousness of the Spirit’s indwelling presence.

Trust what you’ve received: the Holy Spirit in His fullness: “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him” (John 3:34). Live in the light of God’s Word; act on the truth, and results will follow.
