Command All Things In His Name
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17-18).
If you’d learn to use the Name of Jesus in your life, in everything you do, you’d be amazed at the victories and extraordinary blessings you’d experience every day.
His Name is an instrument, a great blessing for us in the New Testament.
The Word tells us to use the Name of Jesus in all things. Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” You couldn’t fail or lose in His Name! His Name is the key that unlocks every door!
What many have lacked is the consciousness of the power and authority of His Name. But thanks be unto God! The Church is marching on; knowledge is increasing, and many more are discovering who they are in Christ, and their place of glory and dominion in His Name.
Philippians 2:9-11 tells us that God gave Jesus the Name that’s above every name. He vested all authority in His Name and passed it into law in heaven, in earth and under the earth. Therefore, when you make demands in His Name, He sees to it that it happens (John 14:14).
When someone is sick in your home, don’t run helter-skelter, looking for help; take charge and declare, “In the Name of Jesus Christ, I rebuke the pain; I rebuke the affliction!”
Mention the sickness and command it to go!
He told us to heal the sick; so, it’s our responsibility to do it in His Name; and His Name never fails!
Even now, rebuke the infirmity. Declare that every storm is stilled in your home, office, school, or environment. Affirm that you’re in abundance and the lines have fallen unto you in pleasant places. Use His Name to effect the changes you desire and create blessings for yourself and others.
But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me (Matthew 14:30).
On a certain day, Peter and the other disciples were in a boat, far in the sea, when they saw someone walking on the water towards them. Frightened, they thought they’d seen a ghost; but to assuage their fear, the Lord said to them, “…Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27 NKJV).
To be double sure, Peter replied, “…Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water”*_ (Matthew 14:28 NKJV).
And Jesus said to Peter, “Come!”
Straightaway, Peter got out of the boat, into the water, and started walking on water to meet Jesus; a remarkable miracle! However, as Peter approached Jesus, the wind and waves became boisterous, and Peter became distracted and began to sink (Matthew 14:30).
He walked on the water as long as his attention was on the Master, but things changed when he shifted his focus to the prevailing circumstances.
Refuse to allow circumstances run your life.
You’re a creature of faith, and faith doesn’t consider circumstances; faith responds only to the Word.
No matter how fierce the attacks of the enemy may be, refuse to be moved; walk on in victory. Be like Abraham, who refused to consider his body when he was about one hundred years old; neither did he consider the deadness of Sarah’s womb. Rather, he was strong in faith, giving glory to God (Romans 4:19-20).
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 says, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”*
Stay your mind on the Word always; look away from the challenge, the difficulty, unto Jesus, the living Word, and He’ll keep you in perfect peace; the peace of prosperity. Hallelujah!
*And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him (Colossians 3:17).
The Apostle Paul was referring to the instrumentality of the Name of Jesus; using the Name of Jesus as an instrument, as a weapon, the way you’d use a knife or any weapon.
Imagine what your life would be like if you lived every day, doing all things in the Name of Jesus! Imagine that all your projects were started in the Name of Jesus! Imagine coming into your office every day, declaring, “I come in the Name of Jesus!” It immediately takes away every form of limitation. What a life of success and glory that is!
The Word is clear: you can do anything in the Name of Jesus as long as it brings the Father glory. If you’d live this way, there’d be no fear in your life; you wouldn’t go to bed at night wondering what might happen to you, because you’re living for Him—in His authority.
Nothing compares to that; it’s the way to live the supernatural Christian life.
If there’s a tumour in your body, for example, use the Name of Jesus as an instrument against it. Say, “Tumour, in the Name of Jesus, you can’t stay in this body; I cut you out,” and it’ll go! If you had a problem with your heart, command it to function normally, in the Name of Jesus. If you’ve been having trouble at work, command the storm to cease, in the Name of Jesus.
His Name is the solution to every problem; it’s the way out of every quagmire.
Even now, declare, “In the Name of the Lord Jesus, I have the wisdom to function and deal excellently, to answer questions, and solve problems. I do the right thing at the right time, in the right way for the right purpose.”
I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).
In Matthew 17:20, Jesus said, “…nothing shall be impossible unto you”; in other words, you can do anything.
The Apostle Paul lends credence to this in our opening verse. Also, in 2 Corinthians 3:5, he takes it a step further, saying, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.”
This isn’t talking about your human sufficiency or ability, but of God’s ability in you; you’re to look beyond yourself.
When you were born again, you received the very life and nature of God, meaning you have and are to function with divine abilities.
This is what gave Paul the boldness to say, “I can do all things through Christ!” It’s the same with every one of us. But many haven’t been able to look beyond themselves and their seeming inadequacies; hence, they concede to failure and to defeat. But not so with you; you’re born of God and therefore up to any task.
2 Corinthians 3:5 “Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.”
You’re to look beyond what your physical ability can do, now that Christ is in you. Your sufficiency is a God-sufficiency.
This was David’s mentality when he confronted Goliath.
He eyeballed the giant and said, “I’ll cut your head off your shoulders today and feed your carcass to the birds of the air” (1 Samuel 17:46).
How could David, a mere stripling, make such a boast? He had learnt to look beyond himself, unto the Lord.
He said to Goliath, “I come against you in the Name of the Lord of host, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied” (1 Samuel 17:45). David was saying, “I may be the one standing before you, but God is actually the One standing against you, because I’m standing in His Name, not in my name. I’m functioning in His might, not mine.
Have the same consciousness, because even better than what David had, the greater One lives in you today. He speaks through you, heals the sick through you, and blesses through you. You have all His power and limitless resources domiciled in your spirit. Glory to His Name forever!
