Dodging Bullets

Dodging Bullets

It is easy to ridicule a believer
People may applaud you and it might
make you feel good about yourself
(Many of us actually make sport of
others because it makes us feel
somehow as if we are better than them)
Truth is, you're better than no one
It is an illusion, a delusion
It is difficult to be a believer
To stand for the reality of Christ in
a world given to self-adulation
To post about your faith and talk
about His Kingdom
To be labeled a fanatic, a hill billy,
a simpleton
I remember posting on Twitter
once, a warning to some witches
I was mocked
I was ridiculed
It was terrible
Those mocking and calling me
names didn't know that a lady
came into my DM to make a report
about her sister-in-law and some
others who were witches
She said they wanted to initiate
her into witchcraft
She said no and they appeared to
her in a dream
and cut out her womb
From that day she started suffering
from miscarriages
After the eighth miscarriage, she
reached out for help
It was the lady that told me, that
her sister-in-law and the friends
were all on Twitter and just like her
they were my followers
I met with the lady
in my office and the Holy Spirit set
her free
I couldn't approach her sisters directly
to tell them what the Holy Spirit said
while I was praying for the lady
The Holy Spirit said He is willing to
save them if they would repent but if
they do not they would die
I have a duty to
myself and the kingdom of God to
deliver the message
The one neutral medium we all share
was Twitter
So I posted the message here
I Issued a warning to the witches here
knowing they would see it and will repent
rather than perish
Twitter trolls saw it and decided to
poke their noses into the matter
Some retweeted with jibes, some
quoted the tweet and passed comments t
hat made me feel like going back to t
he village to dodge the bullet
Some ignored
Others retweeted and said AMEN.
Some of those close to me sent me a
message to pull the tweet down, they
felt it was too controversial
They felt i was happy the message
bringing me so much ridicule remained
pinned to my handle
They didn't know that after posting it
and seeing the nasty comments I
logged out of Twitter for five days
I couldn't bear the backlash
And the backlash was heavy
When I checked my DM after the
five days, three of the twenty-one
witches had sent me messages
Somehow the Holy Spirit had touched
their heart and they wanted to chat
with me on WhatsApp to find a way out
I reached out to them and they got
born again
From that point I got the message
What is a little ridicule when weighed
against the result?
Even if it is just one soul that was
saved, wouldn't it be worth it?
Even if none of the witches responded,
wouldn't my obedience to the Holy Spirit
be worth the derision?
Would I have benefitted anything from
strangers who wouldn't have paid me
any attention if they didn't see the tweet
and felt it was worthy of their stones?
I had issued a 21 days ultimatum and i
had wanted to chicken out after day 5
I left the tweet for twenty-one days
By the end of the twenty one days 18
people had responded
Some from the woman's friends and
others from other places that i didn't
even know
One of them came to my office in
Magodo all the way from Ghana!
Another one was sick to the point of
death and she sent her daughter to
come and present her case for restitution
Oh my!
I could have resisted the impulse to
post that tweet and spare myself the
ridicule that followed but the ridicule
paled significantly when I saw what
the Holy Spirit did with those precious
souls
My brother, my sister, it pays to serve
Jesus
It pays to do His bidding whatever the
cost
The people whose opinion you fear
or defer to are scrambling in darkness
Have you heard darkness speaking
before?
It can only speak from the depth of
what it knows
The light therefore cannot expect
darkness to cheer or clap it to success
To be ignorant is to be in darkness
Whatever the Holy Spirit has laid on
your heart to do, i beg you to please
do it
Sentiment will earn you rebuke from
the One whose opinion really matters
at the end of the day
Shall I please twitter trolls and
displease the Lord?
Are you there?
Are you listening?
Are you paying attention?
Your Twitter handle serves you best
when it is an avenue where the
Holy Spirit finds expression to reach o
ut to the world and draw people into
the light
If you live to please yourself, self
will wilt and fade
Live to please the Lord
He is all that matters!

PS:
It pays to serve Jesus, I speak from my heart,
He'll always be with us, if we do our part
There's naught in this wide world can pleasure afford;
There's peace and contentment in serving the Lord.

CHORUS
I love Him far better than in days of yore
I'll serve Him more truly than ever before,
I'll do as He bids me, whatever the cost,
I'll be a true soldier, I'll die at my post.

And oft when I'm tempted to turn from the track,
I think of my Saviour, my mind wanders back
To the place where they nailed Him on Calvary's tree.
I heard a voice saying, "I suffered for thee."

A place I remember where I was set free,
'Twas where I found pardon, a heaven to me.
There Jesus spoke sweetly to my weary soul,
My sins were forgiven, He made my heart whole.

How rich is the blessing the world cannot give,
I'm satisfied fully for Jesus to live;
Though friends may forsake me and trial arise,
I am trusting Jesus, His love never dies.

There is no one like Jesus can cheer me today.
His love and His kindness can ne'er fade away,
In winter and summer, in sunshine and rain,
His love and affection are always the same.

Will you have this blessing that Jesus bestows,
A free full salvation from sin's bitter throes?
O come to the Saviour, to Calvary flee,
The fountain is opened, is flowing for thee.
