Embracing The Truth of What He says About You
They had been hanging out with Him for a while, they went everywhere with him. He was charismatic in ways they had never seen, he was an enigma, a mystery.
They felt their hearts stirring every time he opened his mouth to talk. As for the things he did?
Never before had any of them experienced such amazing things before! He was no magician or trickster! He was the real deal! The real McCoy! They knew it! They had a witness in their hearts every time he spoke! He had the kind of depth and insight that was nothing short of divine.
They knew he was special yet they had never quite found the opportunity to tell him what they thought or how they felt about him. One day he asked them.....who do you say that I am? Then the loud-mouthed one who was often the 1st to volunteer to do anything or to speak up gave an immediate answer. "You are the Christ, the Messiah, the son of the living God", he said!
There was pin drop silence when Peter gave that response!
Then......
Jesus came back
“God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I’m going to tell you who you really are.
You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.
“And that’s not all. You will have complete and free access to God’s kingdom,
keys to open any and any door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth and heaven. A yes on earth is a yes in heaven. A no on earth is a no in heaven.....
The very day Peter recognized Jesus as the Christ was the very day Jesus gave him a new name! The name came complete with a blueprint of who he was. It was a life-changing moment, a redefining of purpose, an unveiling of destiny.
Peter lived up to that name, In spite of his challenges and shortcomings he lived up to that name.
It didn't matter that he even denied the very one who gave him the name!
The word had gone out on the street! Peter was the rock! The Master had said it and because His word is final, that word hung over Peter's head till the word and Peter became one.
Who does the Master say that you are?
What does His word say about you?
You might feel unworthy and undeserving but He has given you a new name and it comes complete with a blueprint of who you are! Embrace the truth of what He says about you because His word can never return unto Him void.
Jesus is counting on you!
If He said it then you can do it and you shall become!
