Glory Killers

Glory Killers

They all joined the church roughly about
the same time
They were all in their early twenties
They were all professionals
The General Overseer of the church had a
very compelling supernatural atmosphere
They invited him as a guest speaker at their
annual Bankers and Finance Professionals
fellowship
They heard him speak for about forty minutes
They all gave their lives to Jesus afterward
it was unplanned and unexpected
The Jesus he preached was alive and real
They saw that Jesus in him
The following Sunday, they all drove to his
church
They became members
Just like that!
His wife equally gave her life to Jesus during that
ministration
So did many of his colleagues too
Within eight weeks they had finished their
workers in training programme and believer's class
They also got baptized
Some of them were baptized as infants in their
previous churches
Some had never been baptized at all
It was a whole new spiritual experience for
all of them
They also got baptized in the Holy Ghost
and they spoke in tongues
They joined the church's workforce
He became a Sunday School teacher
His wife joined the choir
Some of their colleagues joined the other
departments
They were saved, secured and loved
After they had spent four years under the
tutelage of the General Overseer
It was decided that a branch of the church
should be planted in another community
The church had a very dynamic church
planting policy
The church planting department identifies
vibrant, competent, zealous and Holy Ghost
filled workers
Usually about fifteen in number
Their names were submitted in a list to
the General Overseer
The Team leader usually ends up being selected
as the branch Pastor
The team members form the core of the parish
council and the Parish Ministers
As they grow, they rise in position and
responsibility
It was a tested and trusted style
The General Overseer prayed and approved
of the list
They were all called out during a Sunday service
and they were sent forth to plant a new parish
He was not interviewed or informed
That Sunday morning, he just heard the General
Overseer calling his name
Others were also called
He was named as one of the ministers
The team leader and Parish pastor was also
named
The church being planted was in his community
He had been chosen to be a part of the team
It was a sobering responsibility
He had a mind to reject it
But he respected the General Overseer far too
much to do that
They started the parish in a school
Opposition came immediately
The Owner of the school was a fine Christian
woman
But her husband was very diabolic
Her husband fought tooth and nail to ensure
that they were not allowed to use the school
for more than a month
When they were thrown out of the school
They had an option
Go back to the headquarters or find another
location
Somehow the headquarters heard of their
predicament
One of the senior pastors had a house in that
locality
The pastor gave them the keys
They were told to use the compound freely
every Sunday
The fifteen of them were all married with
children
The church was almost forty member strong
when they finally got the space to worship
They started evangelizing the community
The pastor was fair
He made sure all his team members were given
a spot on the altar to do one thing or the other
every Sunday
It was like a roster of sorts
You just never know when it will be your turn
The pastor always asked all of them to be
prepared to minister at any time
He took the instruction seriously
One Sunday, the Pastor eventually called
him to minister
He got on the altar
He opened his Bible
He was about to read out loud
He saw an angel standing by a pillar in the
huge sitting room they had converted into
church
The angel stood with its hands on the pillar
The vision lasted for about thirty seconds
He was so sure of what he saw
He walked down from the altar
He touched the pillar just the way he saw the
angel touch it
He told all those who are sick in the church
to walk to the pillar and touch it
As soon as people touched the pillar
The anointing of the Holy Spirit came upon them
They were healed
Others who were not sick touched the pillar
and fell under the anointing
WOW!
That week the population of the church doubled
The testimonies were enormous
The sick were healed, the jobless got employed
Two of the members got home just in time
to raise their dead relatives
The buzz around the church was miraculous
The pastor was shocked by the population
explosion
They had to rent more chairs
The pastor asked him to lead the service
again
It was obvious that the people that came
around had heard of the miracle and had
expectations of experiencing the same
He led the service
The people touched the pillars again
Three cripples and two blind people were
healed
Everybody was flabbergasted
Even the pastor had never seen such wonders
before
Wow!
The next Sunday, they had over two hundred
new members
The pastor's wife got angry
She felt he was threatening her husband's
position
His name was on the lips of everybody and
he was not the parish pastor
What was he using?
Why was her husband not seeing that the
crowd he brought were mere bread seekers
Why couldn't her husband caution him about
this "touching pillar" nonsense?
He should just preach and go back to his seat
He was showboating and overshadowing her
husband
She told her husband everything she observed
about the crowd
They were drawn by the spectacular
They wanted miracles
They were all mostly from other churches
They were fickle and unreliable
But her husband was unconcerned
As far as the pastor was concerned
Jesus drew crowds with signs and wonders
It was up to the church to follow them up,
and convince them to become members
But the pastor's wife didn't see it that way
She became very antagonistic towards
everything the miracle-working brother did!
Because the brother had a car, he usually
dropped off the pastor and his wife at
home after every service before going to
his own house
The Pastor's wife refused to go anywhere
near the brother's car
When the brother asked the pastor and his
wife if they were ready to go home
The pastor's wife would scream "Pastor K, I
am not getting into your car, take your car
and go! I do not want to become hypnotized
like the other ministers!
I am not fooled by your niceness!
All your secret sources will soon be revealed!"
The pastor couldn't control his wife
The relationship between both families
went sour
It affected the ministers too
It takes a little bile to mess up good meat
Division came out of nowhere
Some didn't see anything wrong with the
miracle services the brother was doing
Some saw it as a sign of ambition and
disloyalty
The brother had become such a force that
the pastor could just throw him out of the
church
The crowd were largely there to see him
and meet with him after service for
counselling
The Pastor's wife and some people eventually
wrote a petition to the headquarters
They wanted the activities of the brother
checked
It was written nowhere in their doctrine
that people should be touching pillars
They were told that they could lay hands
on the sick and anoint with oil
They could also hold communion services
Did Jesus ever touch a pillar in the Bible?
Did Apostle Paul touch a pillar?
Strange spirits do strange things
The activities of the Brother needed to be
questioned and scrutinized
The headquarters handed the petition over
to the church disciplinary committee
The committee met and prayed
A group of people who had experienced the
power of God through the brother came
to him Nicodemously while the whole case
was dragging
They offered to build him his "own" church
and support him financially
They said the brother had a gift they couldn't
deny and they wanted the world to benefit from it
The Brother told them he would think about it
The church disciplinary committee
summoned the brother
He was interviewed for eight hours
They decided to transfer him to another
parish at Abule Odu
The Parish had leadership infighting issue
He accepted the decision of the committee in
good faith
He went to Abule Odu
The population of the church exploded
He continued to rise by the wing of the
Holy Spirit
The miracles recorded at anointing services
were out of this world
Other churches and ministries began to
invite him
The church that kicked him out realized
they had made a mistake
They went to the headquarters to beg that
he should be returned to them
But it was too late
The parish shrank and shrank
It eventually stabilized at a population of
between 120 and 150 every Sunday
The brother's ministry within the mission
and outside the mission continued to expand
The General Overseer of the mission created
an office for him especially in recognition
of his evangelism exploits
He became a national icon!
He became one of the trusted representatives
of the General overseer in National and
International functions and ministrations

PS: I had wanted to write about Pastor J. T.
Kalejaiye for many years
I sat with Tejumade Owolabi (The daughter
of the Pastor whose house was converted to
the branch of the church at Oworonsoki recently)
She told me a part of the story as she witnessed
it!
She told me the story to encourage me
She told me the story to reassure me that it
is not out of place to know the Holy Spirit in a
way and at such a dimension that it becomes
a problem for "religious" minds!
I understand you, Sister Teju!
Thank you!

GSW's notes: If you are walking with the
Holy Spirit and you hear people say things
like "The manifestation of the Spirit is a
distraction", "Tone it down", "Why should
you always make the Holy Spirit move that
way" etc
Run from them!
They are out to make you like them
Powerless word practitioners
If you listen to them, they will take your
supernatural blessings and replace it with
the gift of the garb!
Nobody who has met the Holy Spirit seeks
to diminish his work and move in a service!
By their fruits....
