Help from Within

Help from Within

Her husband went to Heidelberg
to get his Ph.D
The programme took about four years
She had to find the means to cope
with her children throughout the duration
She made several tough choices
Choices she didn't have to make if
he was at home with them
Allowing him to travel was the
hardest one!
She thought about it for several
months
How would she cope?
They both had their first degrees
in Germany
They met during one of the parties
hosted by a fellow Nigerian student
Somehow their relationship took off
The relationship was neither planned
was intended
She had a lover she left at home
A lover she loved with all her heart
She was determined to complete
her studies and go back to her lover's
waiting arms
For that reason, she steeled her mind
and closed the door of her emotions
to any thought or imagination that
could make her vulnerable to temptation
and/or adjust her course in life
She had always liked to be in charge of
her own destiny
For her it had to be her lover and no
one else
She was in her second year when
she got the pictures
Her lover had impregnated her best
friend
With the pictures came a letter from
her younger sister about the scandalous
conduct of both her lover and best
friend in Nigeria.
It was shocking and wicked
She almost died after seeing it
Eventually, her lover's letter arrived
He said he was determined to wait
for her and be with her but her absence
made his love for her weary and faint.
He for his actions but he had chosen
to go with another woman
He didn't say who the woman was
Her best friend had stopped writing
to her for many months
When she wrote several letters
without getting a reply, she assumed
something was wrong but she couldn't
even imagine what it turned out to be
Her best friend was elegant and beautiful
and had always acted as if she was too
classy for any man
There were several things her girlfriend
told her about her man that made it seem
her best friend could never touch her man
with a long pole not to talk of sleeping
with him or getting pregnant for him
But such is life
She dusted herself up and began
searching again
She felt there was no use crying over
split milk but she learned a very vital
lesson from the episode
Absence can make the heart weary,
faint and sometimes give-up
She promised herself never to do a
long-distance relationship again
It wasn't worth it in her opinion
She had seen couples that thrived
in such a relationship
She just wasn't that lucky and there
was no point tempting fate
When she completed her studies,
she waited a year for him to complete
his studies
She could have returned home but it
would mean doing the long-distance
thing over again and she just couldn't
deal
So she waited so that they could return
home together
She didn't mind what her parents
were saying
Her father especially felt she shouldn't
put her life on hold because of any man
But talk is cheap
He couldn't marry her and neither could
any of her brothers
She knew she had to do whatever had
to be done to secure her home
They got married and started a family
immediately
He got employed in a publishing firm
She got employed at a horticultural
and landscaping firm
She miscarried after the first three
months of her pregnancies three
times in a row
That was between the first and
second year of their marriage
The doctor placed her bed rest and
strict observation the fourth time
she got pregnant
She was practically out of circulation
for the duration of her pregnancy
That was how she lost her job
Her husband's job was paying very
well
and he was a very caring man
He practically split his salary into
two every month and handed half
over to her to spend as she saw fit
They had three children in all
Her pregnancy experience was the
same throughout
When their third child was two
years old, her husband lost his job
The company he was working for
folded up
Things became very tight
He tried starting several businesses
They all failed
He eventually got a job in another
publishing firm but the pay was too low
and the owner of the business was a
slave driver
 It was a sweatshop!
That was when her husband decided
he had to further his education to get
ahead in life
She felt all he needed was a better job
or a business that would provide for
the need of the family
She didn't see any sense in a married man
with three children going back to school
How would a student fend for his family?
He reasoned with her initially but when
nothing changed for a year, he fell into
depression
It took the help of the church, friends and
family members to help them during
that season
He was a grown man with great potential
working in a sweatshop and being
treated like a rag by his employer
He couldn't stomach the humiliation anymore
He resigned
Everybody wanted him to snap out of the
depression and heal
His thoughts went back to the "I want to get
my Ph. D" thing
Everybody said he should go since that
was what he desired to do
There was no point keeping a depressed
man at home
The sickness would only get worse
Somehow the funds came out and the
papers were processed
He traveled within a year after he made
his intentions known
Even she, despite her protestations,
helped out with his ticket
Her paternal uncle was a travel agent and
offered free travel tickets which she took
advantage of
The first two months after his departure
was peaceful
The children's school fees had been paid
before he departed and all she had to do
was get them to school every day and
prepare their meals
After the two months, she ran out of money
Her husband had promised to send monthly
allowance from Germany
He was allowed to work while he studied
but he couldn't get a decent job
He made some money packing spaghetti
at a factory as an unskilled laborer but
it was barely enough for him to meet up
with his weekly rent
She had to fend for the family until he found
his feet!
She dusted her CV and went job hunting
She wrote and submitted applications
She visited old friends and colleagues
She visited friends and family members
who might know somebody who would
offer her a job
She got invited for interviews easily but
landing a job proved to be a more
difficult task
An interviewer asked her what her
husband does
She told him her husband was abroad
The interviewer looked at her and said
"You mean to say these assets here
(pointing to her breasts) have been
left to lie fallow?
Wow! If you don't mind, I can be of
service in that area, just so that these
things won't lose their sensations
and get rusty"
The conversations almost always went
that way, except for a decent few
who would say No! or politely tell
her they couldn't offer her a job
It wasn't easier for him in Germany
He met a lady at the supermarket
She was a Nigerian who had spent
nearly all her life in Germany
She listened to his story and offered
him a room in her apartment
She was in her lady thirties and had
been divorced twice
She didn't have a child from either of
the marriages but she got some
money out of the divorces
It was a much-needed help
He wouldn't be paying rent for a room
he hardly slept in
(He worked the night shift at the
factory four days in a row and usually
went to school from there)
The only reason he needed his own
accommodation was because of his
clothes, books and other personal
belongings
The factory's lockers only had room
for one change of clothes, boots and
security helmet
He moved in on his off day
That night, the lady came into his
room naked
It was a tough choice
if he said no, he knew she would kick
him out
He had rushed to Western union that
afternoon to send his rent and some
change to his wife and children
He didn't have a dime and he didn't
have anywhere to go
He slept with the lady
His relationship with the lady made
life better for him in Germany
He had access to her cars, the house
and was able to leverage on her
goodwill to get a better paying job
He told the lady about his family
The lady smiled and said the right
things but it didn't deter her from
riding him late into the night
He started sending money home
constantly
His family had suffered for six months
before things fell into shape but
things got better
The lady in Germany never asked him
for a dime, not even for bills and all
All she wanted was his presence,
companionship and sex
His wife was deprived of all that but
she was getting money every week
for the upkeep of the house and
also for building on the land which
he had purchased for several years
The clap and dance went on for three
years
While he was writing his project and
psyching himself up to leave Germany
and return to his family, the lady in
Germany miraculously got pregnant
It caught him unawares
The lady had been extremely careful
about birth control and all
In fact, before she allowed him move
from the guest room into her room,
she dragged him to the hospital to do
blood work and ensure neither of them
had any disease
He had been faithful to her knowing
it was part of the prize he paid for
trying to make it in a foreign land
How she managed to get pregnant
was beyond him
The next thing the lady did was report
to the Social services that she was
pregnant and he was denying paternity
Such a case could affect him severely
in future
He could be deported or jailed  and
his record tarnished
He begged her to withdraw the case
and promised her he would stay with
her until she delivers her baby
The lady insisted they had to get
married
He married her
His wife knew all about the affair
He told her himself but swore it was
the only way she wouldn't have to
go into prostitution to feed the
children
She also knew he was rounding off
They had built a dream house and
bought fine cars in four years
All that was left was for him to get
his certificate and return home
The terms of their agreement changed
drastically
The lady insisted he owed her money
She calculated all the cash gifts, rent
everything he had enjoyed for free and
told him he had to pay her or stay put
Short of running away from Germany
ánd probably getting stuck in Nigeria
forever because he would never be
granted visa again if there was a
complaint against him, he had no other
plan of escape
He got his certificate and also got a
new job
His wife couldn't believe it
Her husband had been snatched by
a strange woman
She fasted and prayed
She went from a church to a church
to another church
Nothing worked
Her husband kept sending her money
but he had become legally married
to another and even had a child
After two years of waiting for her
husband to return, someone counseled
her to move on or get a lover to be
with
She was too young to be waiting for
a man who was living large in Germany
"Put your children in the boarding
school, wear short skirts and g-string
and get back on the horse!
You need to do some riding and you
also needed to be ridden!" said her
friend
Her friend's counsel made sense
She was thirty-three years old when
her husband traveled
She had crossed her legs for six years
She had almost forgotten what sex
feels like
And yet she waited for a man whose
marriage to another was a to death
do us part affair
She reached out to the brother in
Jeans and T-shirt
She said "I have looked up to the
hills, my help has refused to come!
If you dont help me, i will lose my
faith and trust in God!
All i want is my husband back
I know we made a lot of selfish and
ungodly decisions and perhaps i am
paying for my complacency or
tacit agreement to his union with this
woman but I have had enough!
Please help me Sir"
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt asked
her if she was born again
She said YES!
"Are you full of the Holy Spirit?"
She said yes
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt said
"Stop looking above, Help is dwelling
within you! in your spirit sits the
Holy Spirit, connect with him and
solve this!
You can never be put at a disadvantage!"
They prayed together over the phone
They prayed in the spirit
That night, at about 1 AM
The lady woke up from bed and told
her husband she wanted to meet his
people in Nigeria
It came out of the blue
Her husband informed her of the
developments immediately
She sent a message to the brother in
Jeans and T-shirt
Something had happened but she
wasn't sure where it was leading to
Two months later they arrived
The lady, her husband and their baby
The lady had never been to Nigeria
since she was a child
They lodged in a hotel
The next morning, the lady told her
husband he would like to meet his
Nigerian wife and children
They met at the hotel
When she got to the room, the lady
told her husband to excuse them
When the husband left, the lady
handed over the baby to her and
also gave her some money for the
baby's upkeep
The lady said she had a dream
in the middle of the night that
something will happen to her and
her baby would be lost in the
adoption system
She realized the best bet was for
a child to be with someone who
would give her the best care
That was why she decided to come
to Nigeria!
Wow!
They left the hotel for their house that
day
The lady stayed with them for three
weeks
She and her husband returned to
Germany in April 2018
Her husband tidied things up and
returned to Nigeria finally in June 2018

PS: There is help within you
The family lives in Abuja, Nigeria
The husband started a company dealing
with electrical cables and other electronic
materials
The company is flourishing
The baby was her only girl
The other children were all boys
The lady in Germany is still alive
and doing very well
She took up dancing and met another
man
Another chapter had opened for her
and she moved on
The family lives in Abuja, Nigeria

PS: Believers often forget that the
Jews looked up to the hills for help
because God was an external factor
in their reality
We have God in us
We are full of the Holy Spirit
When we pray and connect with
him
He responds and settles our issues
I got a similar testimony to this one
today
I am reminded of His faithfulness
on every side
If you can learn a thing or two
from these testimonies
It will strengthen your faith and
do you a world of God
Glory be to God
