Rule and Reign Over All Things
I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).
If, as a Christian, you wish to see the grace of God produce results for you, then order must be a vital factor in your life. There has to be order in your heart. Firstly, bring order into your life as an individual; order in the things you do. Sometimes, we tell people, “Put God first in your endeavours,” and some don’t understand what that means. Putting God first means putting His Word first; what does God think? What does He want? You put Him first; that’s order.
If you put all things in their right order in your life, your life will produce the result of this order in terms of miracles, signs, wonders, wisdom, good fruits in abundance, and a wellspring of life. This enables you to walk in deep spiritual dimensions
In Matthew 17:20, Jesus said, “…nothing shall be impossible unto you”; in other words, you can do anything. The Apostle Paul lends credence to this in our opening verse. Also, in 2 Corinthians 3:5, he takes it a step further, saying, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.” This isn’t talking about your human sufficiency or ability, but of God’s ability in you; you’re to look beyond yourself.
When you were born again, you received the very life and nature of God, meaning you have and are to function with divine abilities.
This is what gave Paul the boldness to say, “I can do all things through Christ!” It’s the same with every one of us. But many haven’t been able to look beyond themselves and their seeming inadequacies; hence, they concede to failure and to defeat. But not so with you; you’re born of God and therefore up to any task.
Read 2 Corinthians 3:5 in the Amplified translation; it puts it in a better light: “Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.” You’re to look beyond what your physical ability can do, now that Christ is in you. Your sufficiency is a God-sufficiency. Hallelujah!
This was David’s mentality when he confronted Goliath.
He eyeballed the giant and said, “I’ll cut your head off your shoulders today and feed your carcass to the birds of the air” (1 Samuel 17:46). How could David, a mere stripling, make such a boast? He had learnt to look beyond himself, unto the Lord. He said to Goliath, “I come against you in the Name of the Lord of host, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied” (1 Samuel 17:45). David was saying, “I may be the one standing before you, but God is actually the One standing against you, because I’m standing in His Name, not in my name. I’m functioning in His might, not mine!” Hallelujah!
Have the same consciousness, because even better than what David had, the greater One lives in you today. He speaks through you, heals the sick through you, and blesses through you. You have all His power and limitless resources domiciled in your spirit. Glory to His Name forever!
Don’t let anything or anyone make you settle for a lowly existence. God didn’t create anyone to suffer and struggle through life. I know there are folks who think it’s wrong for a Christian to be rich. They have the notion that it’s better to live in poverty and go to heaven. But living in poverty, failure, sickness and defeat has nothing to do with going to heaven; in fact, it’s inconsistent with the Gospel! Being rich, living in health, dominion, and in God’s provision is the fulfilment of the Gospel.
The Bible says, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). Jesus became poor that you might become rich. So it doesn’t matter what your earthly background is; all you’ve got to do to enjoy the life of prosperity He’s brought you into is to live in His Word!
In Isaiah 1:19, God said, “If you will only let me help you, if you will only obey, I will make you rich” (TLB). Your submission to God’s Word as final authority in your life is the key to living in your inheritance in Christ and enjoying life to the full. That is what empowers angels to act on your behalf and commit riches to you. God has already given you all things to enjoy, not in the sweet by-and-by but NOW!
Legally, God has put all things under the feet of Jesus (Ephesians 1:22). Isaiah 9:6 says, “…and the government shall be upon his shoulder….” This is so powerful, because it lets us know how it connects to us—the Church!
If Isaiah’s prophetic words had been “…and the government shall be upon His head,” that would have meant the Lord Jesus, because He’s the head and we the Church are His body. The government being upon His shoulders means His reign, His dominion and authority are borne by us. Blessed be God!
Thus, every single member of the Body of Christ is above all things, because all things have been placed under the feet of Jesus. God already said so and nothing can change it. The Lord Jesus, through the Church, reigns over all things.
1 Corinthians 15:25, talking about the Lord Jesus, says, “For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.” This isn’t about Jesus reigning in heaven; rather, it’s about Him reigning in the earth. Legally, God has put all things under the feet of Jesus (Ephesians 1:22). Isaiah 9:6 says, “…and the government shall be upon his shoulder….” This is so powerful, because it introduces our connection to it. If He had said, “and the government shall be upon His head,” that would have meant the Lord Jesus, because He’s the head, and we’re His body.
Therefore, the government being upon His shoulders means His reign, His rulership and authority, is upon the Church; its borne by us. Halleluiah! This means even if you were the least in the Church—the last little toe of the foot—you’re still above all things, because all things have been placed under the feet of Jesus. This is a settled fact in heaven. God already said so, and nothing can change it. The Lord Jesus, through the Church, must reign over all things.
What this means is that in these last days, you’re expected to arise, take up the arms of faith, and be strengthened in the things of God. Speak the Word with boldness and see it come to pass. The world and the fullness thereof has been given to you. Therefore, be bold to possess the earth, because the rulership is in your hands. Exercise dominion and take charge of your life; command every contrary storm to be calm in the Name of Jesus! Refuse to be sick, poor, or defeated. Rule over circumstances.
