Show Up For Yourself

Show Up For Yourself

The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.

— Henry David Thoreau, Walden

You Are Replaceable Everywhere Except One Place.

If you are not living the life you actually want, you are not successful. You might be living someone else’s dream instead because society puts you on this track early. It decides what you’ll achieve.

What you’ll become. You stay stuck in that same rut chasing the same race year after year.

You keep achieving. Keep accumulating. Then one day it finally hits you.

You are not successful. People just have a perception that you are.

If you’re not living the life you actually want, none of that perception means anything. Same days. Same nights. Just the shadow pretending to be the substance while the substance pines away in unfulfilment

I Spent Years Running A Race I Never Actually Chose

I think about this more than I probably should.

I remember the point where I realised I’d built an entire version of my life around what other people would think of it. The career path that sounded impressive at family gatherings.

The choices that made sense on paper.

None of it was actually mine. It was borrowed, piece by piece from what I thought success was supposed to look like.

Forget the world for a while. Forget society’s rules. Actually get to know yourself. Your age was never really about your body. It’s about your mind. I’ve seen twenty-year-olds who’re already old inside.

I’ve seen eighty-year-olds who are still somehow young.

When you arrive in this world when you leave it none of that is in your hands. How you live in between, that part is entirely yours.

So live in a way that when you finally leave there’s satisfaction sitting underneath it, the kind you feel after a trip you’ll never forget. Don’t live dying, dying, every day. Wake up. Start actually living today.

If It’s Meant For You It Will Find You

There’s a line I heard once that stuck with me. If it’s from God it will chase you even if you run. If it’s not from God it will run even if you chase it.

I’ve thought about that more times than I can count, especially in the moments where I was chasing something or someone that clearly did not want to be caught.

Becoming Someone You Can Actually Respect

We need to become the kind of person we genuinely admire. How will that happen if you bow your head in front of every small difficulty? Build yourself into someone you can actually like.

Other people might never catch my flaws, my mistakes, because they’re distant.

They only see the surface.

I know exactly how deep the water is that I’m standing in. That’s what liking yourself actually means. I might walk out of everyone else’s courtroom completely acquitted, but I remain my own harshest judge. The strictest one there is.

Learning To Walk Alone

Learn to walk alone. The crowd doesn’t walk with you on every journey. Some roads you simply have to cover by yourself.

When everything’s going well, people will appear beside you. The moment the road gets difficult, you’ll have to lean on your own courage.

So don’t be afraid of loneliness. Life sometimes pulls you away from people specifically so you can get closer to yourself. So you can recognise your own capability.

The person who learns to stand alone, really learns it, cannot be knocked down by any crowd. They become genuinely strong.

Take care of yourself. Has anyone ever actually told you this before?

The One Place You Cannot Be Replaced

You are replaceable everywhere. Except one place. That is your own life.

We spend our lives trying to become irreplaceable in other people’s stories. Among friends, at the office, within the family, in our own relationships. The truth is, the office can replace you.

Friends will move forward with their lives. Family priorities can shift. As hard as it is to accept, even relationships can change. Your own life, no one else can live that for you.

That is perhaps why the important thing was never how irreplaceable you are to others but rather how much value you hold inside your own life.

There is one place in this entire world where you have no replacement. Your own life.

Love Yourself Before You Lose Yourself Loving Someone Else

Love yourself genuinely. Try to keep yourself happy. Love messes with the mind. That’s simply my point.

The thing about love is, it dulls the mind. It locks up all your logic, all your thoughtfulness, your ability to understand anything at all, because I have also been in that zone, where I had a breakup and I was completely thinking how do I fix this, what can I do.

I became ready to do absolutely anything.

Where are you? Whatever you say I’ll do it. Tell me how to fix this.

After time passes you realise this isn’t right. This isn’t the right approach but it takes time to see that. It takes time for everything to settle. At that moment though you don’t understand any of it. You feel like this can never be fixed.

The biggest insecurity in my life used to be this. I was genuinely terrified of losing people and to save those relationships I used to cry. I’d beg them that whatever happens please just don’t leave my life. Even when it wasn’t my fault I’d still accept the blame anyway.

Slowly I’m starting to realise it doesn’t actually matter who stays in your life or who leaves because at the end of the day you’re alone. You’re the one who has to spend your entire life. You’ll be the one sitting alone crying alone if it comes to that.

Honestly if someone truly cares about you from the heart then no matter what happens they’ll stand by your side.

The people who play the blame game, their intentions changed long before the excuse ever showed up.

They don’t actually want to stay. They’re just pretending.

I read a quote once that said, search for everything except love because it will find you when the time is right.

I think about that line more than anything else I’ve ever read. We spend so much energy chasing the things that were always going to arrive on their own timeline anyway.

Meanwhile, the one thing that genuinely needs our attention now, our own life, the one place we’re truly irreplaceable, sits quietly in the background waiting for us to finally show up.

So show up. Not for someone else’s version of success. Not for people who only want you when it’s convenient.

Show up for the one life that’s actually entirely yours.
