The Roar

The Roar

She was one of those cases
Born angry and thriving on anger
Everyone was against her
Her siblings were out to get her
Her colleagues constantly plotted
against her
God hated her
The devil wants nothing to do with her
The church had abandoned her
There was nothing to live for but
Misery! She was a sickle cell patient
She also had leg ulcer
She was always in constant pain
Her hospital appointments are a weekly
thing
She had never enjoyed a season of rest
in all her forty-three years sojourn on
earth!
She had cursed her birth date
She had cursed her
Parents for giving birth to her so that
she can suffer
Nothing good comes to her
Promotions pass her by
Foreign trips pass her by
She was civil servant and a trader
She was a mother too
A chance she took when she was
Twenty-three years old
She had hoped having a child would
make her happy
Give her some level of fulfillment
But it all turned out to be an adventure
that almost took her life
The doctors believed and told her
throughout the course of her pregnancy
that it would be either her or
Her baby!
It was neither Somehow she pulled of
a miracle all by herself
She survived and her little boy survived too
The euphoria overwhelmed her for a
while but like other emotions, it faded
after some time
Her baby’s father was a man she selected
for the gene and genotype
There was no love whatsoever
She found sex to be pleasurable but like
other pleasures she couldn’t enjoy it
without the constant interruption of pain
and weakness in her bones
She could hold a grudge for years,
she thrives on negative emotions,
they took her mind off her own pain
She was a mixture of pain and hurt
She believed she was constantly
misunderstood and easily rejected
She reached out to the brother in
Jeans and T-shirt
She wanted someone to talk to
about the void she felt in her soul
About the emptiness and the pain
He responded to her call
They talked He asked her if she
would like to pray with him
She said no “I don’t believe in a God
that answers prayers!
When my mother was ill, I prayed my
heart out!
God ignored my cry and took my
mother away!
He asked her if they could read the
Bible together She said No!
They talked
He asked her if she would
like to pray with him She said "No"
“I don’t believe in a God that answers
prayers! When my mother was ill, I
prayed my heart out! God ignored my
cry and took my mother away!
He asked her if they could read the Bible
together She said No!
She said she does not believe in the Bible
either but she liked to call him and talk
She would ramble on and on about her
woes in life asking him to help her sneak a
peek into her future
She wanted divine help but she didn’t want
anything to do with God, Jesus, the Holy
Spirit and prayer
She said she made a vow never to visit
a church after her mother’s burial
He didn’t know what to do with her
He prayed and fasted
Asking God to meet with her, heal her
and restore her into fellowship with
the Holy Spirit.
Finally, they met
The brother in Jeans and
T-shirt held her hand and prayed with her
She had a lot of conditions as usual
“I don’t want to get filled with the Holy Spirit”
“Don’t do that thing you do to people that
makes them speak in tongues to me”
He kept quiet
At least she gave him the opportunity to
pray with her
After the prayer
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt left
She fell sick immediately
She started calling him
Sending him messages
He ignored her
It was a resetting process, a DNA and
genotype recoding
It took 48 hours!
The sickle cells were gobbled up by
the brand new healthy ones!
After 44 years of pain
A testimony roared out of a desolate
place
What is impossible for the Holy Spirit?
Who is too lost for the Holy Spirit to find?
What is your condition
What is your situation?
Perhaps we can join hands together
and pray
Perhaps we can fellowship together
