Chinedu: the Lord guides

Chinedu: the Lord guides

A few years ago, a widow came to see me with her three children.

The first was 13, the second was 11 and the third child was 6 months old.

She said her husband died when the 11 year old was 5 years old.

Then she said someone was after her life, she said she knows the person and she wants us

to pray for God's vengeance on the woman.

I said, "Okay, let us pray."

As soon as i started praying, I saw a house in Ilupeju area of Lagos, I saw my car parked in front of the house, I saw myself alight from the car with her and we entered a gated compound.

I stopped praying...

I said, "Ma'am the Lord has told me we need to go somewhere." She said Okay.

We got in the car and I drove right to the address I saw.

As soon as we parked in front of the house, the lady's face changed.

"WHAT are we doing here?" she asked.

I didn’t answer her.

I alighted and walked to the gate.

I knocked and someone came to open. I walked in and I met a couple in the house-a man in his 50s and his wife.

I greeted them and introduced myself as the pastor of the widow (I am not her pastor because we were meeting for the first time that day) but it is the only way I could have introduced myself to them.

The woman screamed. "Pastor, that ingrate, husband snatcher, wicked daughter of Jezebel….” She said so many things I dare not write here.

I told them what had happened and asked them to please tell me their side of the story.

The woman said "We were all attending the same church when her husband died in a motor accident. We supported her and her children as good Christians should but she had an agenda. Next thing I knew, she got pregnant for my husband and started scheming to become the second wife. Wow! Her husband didn’t say a word.

I apologised to the woman and her husband and I promised them I would take responsibility for the child the lady was carrying for the woman's husband going forward.

I asked that swords be sheathed.

The woman and her husband agreed.

The woman said, "I want to hear her say it, that she will no longer trouble or contact my husband."

I said that was Okay.

I went outside to the car and spoke with the lady. I told her what I had promised and convinced her to come with me.

After about 30 minutes of back and forth, she agreed to come down from the car.

We went into the house together and we apologised to both the man and the woman for our crimes against humanity.

We left with a promise never to disturb the family again.

That baby boy is now 8 years old. (17th February)

He is my son.

Happy Birthday, Chinedu!

I love you with all my heart!
