Her father ventured into many busineses
He was what one could call a prospector
He was well educated
He studied journalism until he earned a
Masters degree and then he studied law
until he was called to the bar
Her mother met her father at the school
of journalism
She earned her National diploma and
proceeded to the University to study
Mass communication via direct entry
Then she got a job
She couldn't afford the luxury of
being an eternal student like her
boyfriend
His father was late and one of his
uncles living in Italy promised to
sponsor his education until he said
"Enough"
This was why he continued to study
The uncle continued to pay the fees
and pay him a huge "support" allowance
every month
The allowance was triple her salary
He was a well-paid student and it really
made no sense from a poor man's
perspective to stop studying
All his Uncle required of him was a
good result at the end of every
academic year
Her man delivered
They got married when he was studying
law
He was living in a well-furnished
three-bedroom flat
He was driving a good car
He was handsome and very social
She was twenty-two years old when
they got married
All they did was go clubbing on
weekends, host or attend parties being
hosted by a friend and have fun
His uncle continued to support him
even after they got married
He told his uncle she was working
and wouldn't distract him
His uncle really loved the fact that
she was an asset and he approved
of her
She spent her salary mostly on
her self and her family members
Life was smooth and easy
Just as she had always imagined
it would be after she got married
He was in the top five of his class
in law school
Just as he was called to bar, his
Uncle died
For her, it was not a disaster
The uncle had groomed to a point
where failure was not an option
She was wrong
He simply lacked the discipline to
settle down to a job
He wanted to persist in living large
without working hard
He kept saying "I have too much
reputation in this town to hustle.
I cannot do a 9-5 job
Do you know what my friends
call me?
Italian Don! Money Machine?
I can never soil my reputation
by sitting behind a desk
No way"!
He kept moving from one get
rich quick scheme to the other
Living off her salary while leveraging
on his reputation and law degree to
live like the Joneses
Eventually,  she got pregnant and
had to consider the baby's needs
She refused to surrender her salary
as she usually did
She wanted to force him to face reality
but his head refused to come out
of the clouds
He resented her for getting pregnant
He resented her for trying to force
him to get a job
He resented her for telling him the
truth
He resented her for insisting that he
must grow up
Of course a lot of regrettable things
were said during that season
So many things he didn't forgive or
forget
She also held on to many things
She left him to spend some time
with her parents so many times
She hated his lifestyle
The playboy who refused to mature
She often looked at him and wonder
if he had any brain
He was a first-class degree holder
in both journalism and law and yet
he couldn't put two cents together
in terms of earnings
The marriage eventually settled down
into a pattern
She was responsible for the rent,
school fees, feeding and so on
He lived as he liked, stealing money
from her bag sometimes just
to get some bottle of beer and mingle
with his friends
If she fuelled the car, he would drive
it until it was empty and then he
would dump it without any apology
She learned to buy just enough
fuel and also keep just enough cash
at home
At a point, she had to tell his siblings
what she was going through
The move backfired bitterly
His ego couldn't tolerate her
indiscretion
They got separated for three years
on the issue
She would have moved on if not
for her only son who fell ill often
while crying for his father
Her option was either to let the
boy go live with his father or
reconsider her decision to move
on with her life
They reconciled but things didn't
change
Even though she believed he had
practically wasted his life chasing
pipe dreams
She learned to let him be
As he often said to her "He didn't
force her to marry him and he didn't
force her to stay with him; the door
was always open"
So she stayed for the sake of her
children but she couldn't contain her
disappointment and bitterness
She drummed her plight into her
children's ear and mind
She didn't want her daughters to grow
up thinking that was how things were
supposed to be
She made sure she got her children
part-time jobs as soon as they finished
secondary school
She wanted them to understand how
money works
The soul that didn't work would starve
She had saved up for their tertiary
education but they still needed to
support themselves in a capacity
This was how she trained her children
When her first daughter was twenty-eight
She fell in love with a 30-year-old
who had a serious intention of
marrying her
Everything about the suitor checked
out except for "employment thing"
The guy was a musician and voice
Over artist
A studio rat who spent his days
dreaming of the day his music would
turn to gold
He was also an idea peddler/inventor
one of those guys who would come
up with a million proposals and are
always looking for corporate
organizations or companies to sponsor
or endorse them and make them overnight
millionaires
Her mother said no
The daughter said she cannot afford
to let him go
She had only had one relationship all
her life and it didn't last for three months
She had to embark on several days of
fasting and prayer before God brought
him to her
Her mother opposed the union vehemently
"Is it not better to be single than to make
the same mistake I made? Do you want
to end up wallowing in misery like I am
doing? Would I spend so much to train
you and not enjoy the fruit of my labour
because you have to fend for a man?"
Her mother's words were a jarring reality
but she also didn't want to lose him
Her mother invited her man to the house
and told him he had to get a job
The young man was polite but firm
He said NO!
Her mother called her younger brother
and narrated the situation to him
She insisted her daughter must take
the young man to her younger brother
for his consent before the marriage
can be approved
They met with her mother's younger
brother
The young man was polite and firm
He said No
She cried and tried very hard to persuade
the young man to get a job and do what
everyone else does
He said No
She found herself in a dilemma
Leave the young man and wait for
someone else or marry him
Her mother said it would become a
pattern if she goes ahead with the
wedding but the alternative was
remaining alone and single
She decided to go along with the
wedding
One month after the wedding, she
executed her plan to force the young
man to take a job
To her mind, she was forcing him
to face reality
She nagged and taunted him
Eventually, she went looking for a job
for him
He took it
It was a low paying job but she didn't
mind that as long as he was working
The only thing that pleased her was
the fact that he took the job
She wanted to see him leaving the
house in the morning and returning
home tired in the evening
He had to be like every other
"responsible" men
That was when the marriage had
some peace
She made sure all the friends and
company that could remind the
young man of his pipe dreams were
kept away from their life
The young man adapted to the
nine to five life quickly
He got promoted steadily until he
was earning something tangible
They settled into the marriage and
started a family
Seven years after the marriage,
the young man was praying in the
spirit while driving to work
Suddenly he started singing in the
spirit
A supernatural song that caused
his body to melt in wonder
Instead of driving to work, he drove
straight to his old friend's studio
He held a guitar again for the first
time in years and sand the song
As he sang, he got inspired to
write and record other songs on
the spot
He composed nineteen songs in one
day
The next day he was back at the
studio
He and his friend started putting
together the beats and sounds to
go with it
He couldn't tell his wife the truth
He had saved some money from
his salary, he went to the bank and
withdrew all the money
The urgency he had in his spirit
about the songs compelled him to
act with speed
While they were mastering the song
A woman came to make Inquiries
about studio sessions
The woman's left hand had somehow
seized for twelve years
It just became stiff and stopped
responding
She had been to many hospitals both
at home and abroad for treatment
Nothing worked
The moment she heard the song playing,
she screamed and fainted
That was the end of the stiffness
By the time she recovered, she was
totally healed
The woman wrote him a cheque of
2 Million naira
He went home dancing!
The savings account he emptied had
two hundred thousand in it
In 24 hours, he got a ten fold increase
When he got home his wife and
children were gone
He drove to his wife's parent's house
His wife saw him and started screaming
I saw the alert, you withdrew all your
savings
You practically closed down the account
and you stopped going to the office
You started sneaking off to the studio
You are an unfortunate man
I regret the day I met you
I hate you
I am suing you for the custody of my
children
My mother warned me about you...
His wife raged on and on
She refused to listen to his
explanation
He left his in-law's house fuming
When he got home, he tried sending
her messages but discovered that
she had blocked him on every
platform of communication
He tried calling her siblings
Nobody picked!
He released the album a week to
the Easter Celebration of 2017
It was an instant hit
Three weeks later, his wife returned
home with their children
She had seen and heard of the rising
of his glory
She didn't want to miss out of the
goodies
He started getting invitations to
minister at outreaches, crusades and
concerts
The album he launched sold 300,000
copies in a week
Of course, it brought a wave of new
people into his life
He had become a celebrity
He had also come to a place of
fulfillment
Unfortunately, he got there without
a word of encouragement or support
from his wife
This became a huge gulf between
them
In June 2018, he was invited to
minister at a crusade in Ekiti State
After the ministration, the General
Overseer of the mission called
him aside and told him he saw
a vision
According to the General Overseer
his wife hated his success and
wanted to find a way to sabotage
it because he became successful
without her input
The General Overseer was not far
from the truth
His wife had always mocked his
success, often saying to his face
that he should save as much money
as he could while his fame lasted
It was as if she had been programmed
to see talent as a sin and labour
as a blessing
On his way back to Lagos, he told
a friend what the General Overseer
said and the friend advised him to
leave home before his envious wife
would kill him
The friend said many things and gave
many examples, by the time they
arrived in Lagos, he had been
convinced beyond reasonable doubt
that his wife was a witch
He went straight to a hotel that
day
The following day he rented a
furnished apartment and employed
some domestic staff
Three days after returning from Ekiti,
he went to the pick the children in
school after school hours and he
took them to his new house
Once the children had settled in,
he called his wife and asked that
they meet at a neutral place
When they met he asked her for
a divorce
He told her she was a witch who
was determined to see him fail,
or die and he was afraid for his
life
His wife didn't know what to do
he had the children and he had
employed the best hands to care
for them
He promised her he would fight her
to any level at any court of law if
she dare contest his decision
He offered her daily visitation
but said the children will not be
allowed to go anywhere with her
unsupervised
He said just didn't want his children
growing up free of her witchcraft
It was at that point she realized
that as far as he was concerned
they were already divorced
He went home to talk to her family
members
She was advised to take him to court
She knew that was what he wanted
He wanted her to initiate divorce
proceedings so that he can walk
away from the marriage
She didn't want
She loved him and suffered with him
for so long
She didn't want someone else to
reap the fruit of her labour
She just didn't know how to make
amends
She didn't know how to turn back
the hands of time and take back the
hurtful words
She reached out to the Brother in
Jeans and T-shirt
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt
reached out to her husband
They became fast friends
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt
opened her husband's eyes to see
the impact of her mother's experience
on her belief system and how that
affected his wife's perception
He got it, he just didn't understand
why his wife's pride couldn't stomach
his success
The family reunited in July 2019
He bought a house in Magodo Phase 2
where they moved to and continued
to live together in love and unity.

PS: This is a long story (Apologies)
It is important to understand why
people sometimes behave in a certain
way
They take their experiences to be
concrete rather liquid
The problem with this approach is
it leaves one with a close mind
A close mind does not see other
approaches as valid except its
own and would often denounce
the validity of such an approach
and its gains
The Pharisees did this to Jesus
They felt they knew all there is
to know about God and His ways
through the law
Jesus said to them "You search the
scriptures because you think that in
them you have eternal life; and these
are they which bear witness of me"
Meaning they were seeking for the
right thing the wrong way!
The same thing applies to the lady
above

GSW's note: Be led by the Holy Spirit
at all times
If you are, you will always be positioned
as an encourager, a supporter and a
nurturer of success and glory!
Remember this: The Holy Spirit is the
Spirit of the Blessed One
All he does is Bless and uplift
If you're walking in Him, all you
will do is bless and uplift the people
around you
