Orchestrated

He was half asleep when he heard the
pathetic story
His roommates were having a discussion
They were both believers
He was not
He was raised in a non-religious home
His parents claim to be Christians
and he also filled Christianity in
forms wherever applicable
But that was all he knew about religion!
His roommates however were fanatics
The 5AM morning devotion types
They attended the same fellowship
and were workers there
They were talking about a lady
A Christian lady in their fellowship
who was engaged to a guy who had since
been sent home because he didn't
have his complete WAEC results!
When they were admitted into the
University
Some of them used Awaiting results
The university was seriously looking 
for students and admitted students
on the condition that the WAEC
result shall be provided before the
end of their 100 level!
When this is done, the student retains
his or admission but failure to do
this, the student must defer his or
her admission until the needed
papers were written and passed!
Then the student can return to
school to complete his or her
academic endeavor!
From what he heard them saying
the sister and this brother started
dating in 100 level and the fellowship
leaders all knew about the relationship
Then this brother was unable to
provide his WAEC result or its equivalent
and had to defer his admission!
The said sister who was studying 
Agricultural Science had remained
"taken" on campus for four years!
No other suitor approached her
because it would seem somehow
in the fellowship!
So the lady was in 400 level
The brother was still at home writing WAEC
The lady had to remain with him
because of some "Faithfulness"
code within the fellowship!
He hated religion!
What bondage!
He didn't say anything
He was a writer for one of the campus
magazines and decided to write about
the issue!
The next day, he stylishly asked one
of his roommates for the details of the
said, sister!
He met with the sister two days later
He deliberately bumped into her
in the library
He said Hi
She said Hello
He smiled
She smiled
He asked if he could see her when
she was done
She said "Why not"
She came to meet him when she
was about to leave the library
He left his books and followed her
They got talking 
It was supposed to be a "get into her 
head" mission
He wanted to know how she was coping
with an absentee future partner
A future partner who was practically
still in Secondary school while she 
had a year to graduate from the 
University!
He found her very open and intelligent
She was defiant in her own way
She didn't mind being seen walking
with someone who was not a member 
of a fellowship on campus!
Campus fellowships usually ran like a
cult!
Everyone knows everything about
everyone 
Relationships are kept very secret
in the name of being proper
Hypocrisy is the norm!
She met with him every evening except
on fellowship days
Within a week she told him everything
he needed to know 
He was really into her
She was intelligent, witty, reserved
and beautiful
He couldn't bring himself to write
about her and her ordeal
Somehow their conversation felt to
him like she answered his questions
based on the impression that he
wanted to date her!
He didn't ask her out
But when he asked her if she was
seeing anybody, his tone was not
casual, it was probing and she
responded to him as she would 
respond to a suitor!
It felt too much like a betrayal of
trust to him
Plus, he was still seeing her
He liked her company and he liked her
The next one year was theirs
They grew together and bonded
He didn't know when he asked her out
She told him she couldn't date
him because she had given her word
to someone else!
He decided to up his game
He threw caution into the wind
A month to their graduation
They traveled to Lagos together
for a concert
He held her hands and got familiar
She allowed him, she had grown into
the idea of being with him
Though she wouldn't admit it in words
He had become her real boyfriend
He was determined to set her free
He hated the idea of her
engagement to a phantom
After the concert he took her home
They got in around 5AM in the morning
They both slept in the guest room
On the same bed!
Though he wouldn't even dare to
try anything
Sharing the same bed with her was a 
psychological win for him
They returned to school on Sunday 
evening
The following Monday, while he was in'
the hostel
His roommates led two men into
the room
The men greeted him politely and
asked him to tell them what was going
on between him and Sister so and so!
They said they have asked her and 
she said "He is just a friend"
He didn't like it at all
She was 24 years old
They were not her parents
What right do they have to police her
life?
He swallowed the bile
He told them he was aware of her
engagement and its implications
They thanked him and left
As soon as they were out of
earshot, he called her phone!
He said "I love you, I want to marry you,
will you marry me?!"
She started crying and then she said
"I have something I must do!"
He didn't call her or see her that day
or the next
He waited for three days!
On the fourth day, she was waiting
for him when he came out of the
hostel
She said "I had to go and see him
face to face and tell him it is over!
I didn't want to be disrespectful
and casual
I had to do it right!"
He understood!
She told him to give her a few days
She went to inform the fellowship
leaders of her decision to terminate
her relationship!
She felt it was the proper thing to
do!
They started writing their final exams!
He deliberately didn't say a word
Although she hadn't said yes to his
marriage proposal, she had practically
upturned her reality simply because
he proposed!
He knew all he had to do was wait!
He finished writing his papers
before her
He did a four-year course while she
did a five-year course
They defended their projects
successfully!
She called him the weekend after
their project defense
She said "Do you still want to marry
me or have you accomplished your goal?"
He was shocked
"What do you mean?" he asked her
She said "While i was praying about
going out with you, the Holy Spirit
said "You have a goal you wanted to
accomplish with me! And that you 
will not rest until you have accomplished
it! I had no idea what it was!
I thought you wanted sex but when we
went to your house you didn't make
any move in that direction and i don't
want it hanging over my head!
So what was it?
WOW!
He started crying!
He couldn't control it
How could the Holy Spirit be that 
accurate?
WOW! 
He said "What do I do to be saved"
She smiled and led him to Christ
It was the one thing he never thought
he would do
He did it
He gave his life to Christ and got
filled with the Holy Spirit
He told her the truth
He told her why he drew towards her
He told her everything
He told her he still loved her
He said he would marry her if she would
have him!
She said "Yes, I will marry you"

PS: I meet pastors and their lovely
wives all the time
I usually ask them how they met
I love the intrigues and the carnality
of a good love story
I pay attention to the nuances and 
the non-verbal cues
The story happened in Ogun State
The couple have been married for
five years
They have two children
They both worship with a pentecostal
church
They both share a strong interest in
missions and have gone on missionary
trips occasionally

home and ministry
