Paying Attention?

Paying Attention?

She was taking a walk in the evening
when she suddenly felt the urge to
break her engagement
It was very unusual
He was not perfect
Nobody is and she had made up her mind
to get on with it
She was never in the market for a perfect man
A God-fearing man was enough in her opinion
She didn't take her relationship casually
She prayed about it, about him, about them together
She didn't hear a voice
Thunder didn't roll
But she had this silence...
Her prayer life was not affected adversely,
she didn't feel any negative vibes
and she had no second thoughts
She was sure she was on track when
things started unusually falling into place
He got a better paying job and was
transferred from the north to the
state she resides in
All within two weeks of their engagement!
They met during the annual general meeting
of his firm
Her firm was given the catering contract
for the occasion and she had to relate
with him directly until the job was done!
He liked her and expressed his interest
in being with her
She liked him too
He was calm, determined and hardworking!
He is also made the effort to be romantic
He wanted a wife She wanted a husband
The attraction was there
So was the maturity and care
They were both Born Again
They both met the basic requirements
of a wonderful home!
They picked a wedding date and started
consulting with their family and the church
Everything was set...
Until that day!
She suddenly had this queasy feeling
She started casting and binding
Her reputation was at stake
How would she explain breaking the
engagement to her parents and pastor
Her man had been nothing but a gentleman
A man after God's own heart
A goodly and lovely man
By the evening of that day she had lost her peace!
Her prayers were a waste of time
The Holy Spirit kept saying
"He is not your husband, let him go"
She eventually called him
She didn't know what to say
The silence between them was very heavy
They talked without talking
He asked her what was wrong
She stammered
He asked her if she had been feeling
something was wrong about them
being together
She said Yes
He said he had been having the feeling
for weeks and asked the Holy Spirit to
talk to her directly
She asked him if there was somebody else
He said he met somebody
A lady who came to his office from en external
audit firm
He said as soon as he saw the lady
he knew she was his wife
It was like Adam meeting Eve
He had not said a word to the lady
He would rather keep his honour and
marry the lady he was engaged to...
...Than become an oath breaker like someone
who had no fear of God!
She had no option after that conversation
but to call off the engagement
She would be the "one he married to keep
his honour instead of "The one"
It was a very amicable parting
He cried and wished her well!
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told
her the remedy!
"Pray in the spirit with me for one hour!"
She had nothing else to do His voice
was a human voice at the other end
It sounded better than mopping and
talking to herself
They prayed in tongues One hour daily
for two weeks!
On the fifteenth day, she suddenly
felt ''the need to travel to Abuja
She said she didn't know why but
there was a strong impression on her
heart to travel to Abuja
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told her
a change of scene will do her a world of
good
She had a cousin in Abuja
She got to Abuja
Her cousin invited her to church
The pastor welcomed those worshipping
with the church for the first time
The man in charge of welcoming the first
timer's gaze fell upon her
She also looked at him and she knew
without a doubt that he was her husband
She just knew
He came to her cousin's house later that
evening He said he had to come and see
her under the pretext of following up
first-timers but to be candid,
the moment he saw her the Holy Spirit said
"She is your wife"
She could barely hold her tears
Wow!
They were married a year later!

PS: We must take our relationship with
the Holy Spirit very seriously!
Many of us speak in tongues and yet
are strangers to the Holy Spirit
Our "tongue" is a mental thing!
We are yet carnal!
We do carnal things and deploy human
schemes while we say we are
walking in him!
Let us repent
