Pilot Fish

At the beginning, it felt like being a reflector
She was an undergraduate without a life
All she does was attend classes and do
her assignments!
She was a little slow to fill out
Most of the guys are attracted to bodies
She didn't have much of that 
Some others were attracted to brains
She was also not one of the most brilliant
She was just there
Average in everything! Just average!
She had a friend and roommate
Her friend was nice and open
Her friend loved to talk 
Her friend was a beautiful lady, the
type attracting admiration from 
the tall and extremely handsome and rich
guys on campus
Her friend would tell her tales
Where this admirer took her to
What they saw, what they ate, sometimes
even the sordid details of what they did
privately!
She loved to listen
It helped her imagination as she dreamt
of being courted and admired
She also liked to go home and tell her
mother the same stories
Her mother had been on her neck to get
into a relationship since she was nineteen
Her mother told her it was not pressure
to get married
But not having any male hanging around 
somewhere at the age of nineteen was
enough cause for concern!
A young lady should be able to attract
and hold admirers with average beauty
and body
The spider had nothing comely about it
Yet it had its way with whatever insect
it admires
Being desirable isn't only about breast
and backside or eyelashes and nails
Artificial enhancements are no substitute
for inner beauty and joy
Everybody is attracted to joy
Be joyful and free
Serious guys looking for serious relationships
would consider joy and peace as a sure
banker for a happy home and come for you!
She didn't understand what his mother meant!
She was a very lonely, miserable, bitter and
unhappy young woman
She was behind in everything
God had deliberately kept her from being
beautiful and attractive
She always felt like an appendage
A clown and a supporting cast in life
How was she supposed to be joyful
and exude peace and calm?
Even her voice was somehow, she hated
listening to herself!
To prevent her mother from making an issue
of her singleness 
She started telling her mother stories
of her fake adventure with admirers
She just projected herself as her friend
and told the stories exactly as her friend
told them to her
At a point, she started believing the stories
as true
She empathized with her friend and sometimes
physically felt the same feeling her friend
felt for her admirers!
It was all harmless fun
She was faking it until she got it
She was like a pilot fish, following the shark
around the sea in order to get bite to eat
She was feeding off the reality of another
pretending this to be her reality 
When she got to the final year
Her mother called her for a sit down
Her mother told her it was time to 
bring home one of her admirers for a
proper introduction
She was 23 and her mother felt it was time!
She panicked!
She didn't know how to tell her mother
it had all been a lie, a fantasy
She had filled out better and yet
wasn't attracting any man
She decided to seek the counsel of her
school mother!
She met her school mother when she was
in secondary school, they were really close
Her school mother had graduated and
gotten married
Her school mother heard her story
Her school mother said "Beautiful girls
attract a lot of admirers, this is why the
not so beautiful ones hang around them!
Your friend should have put in a word for
you with one of her admirers!
She is a very selfish lady 
She was happy to see you grovel and salivate
on her adventures without thinking of
settling you.
I think you should take care of yourself
from now on
Your friend will be fine!
Her school mother gave her a powder
and a black string to tie around
her "ring" finger
She was told to wear the powder and tie the 
string on her finger whenever her 
friend's boyfriend was coming around!
"Just be cheerful, pay attention and wait!"
WOW!
She left her school mother's house with
springs on her feet
A week later, she used the powder and string
as instructed
She shook his hand and spoke with him
She paid attention!
She was in love with him, she knew everything
about him and was practically a part of his
life!
He started calling her the following day
His first call was to ask her if they could
talk
She went to his house and they started
having sex
She wanted him fully committed, to a point 
of no return
She wanted to have as much stake in him
as her friend
The hide and seek game started
Her friend didnt know what hit her when
she eventually found out!
By that time, she was pregnant!
The guy was hers!
Her school mother told her not to be troubled!
"Your friend will get over it and marry
someone else! She has what it takes!"
She took him home
Her mother was overjoyed!
They had the introduction, followed by the 
court wedding
Seven months later, she had a still birth!
It was a very tough time
She didn't know pregnancy could be so
demanding
The still birth was a killer
To go through that stress and end up
empty handed!
Good grief!
She felt like never having sex again!
She told her husband as much
She just needed some air
It was all too much for her
The scheming to get him, the whirlwind
secret sexcapades, the pregnancy, the
confrontation, the introduction and the
loss!
If he loved her, he would give her some time!
She totally forgot that he really didn't 
love her
Barely a week after her outburst
Her husband was sleeping with one 
of the ladies living in the boys quarters
in their compound!
She pretended she didn't see the signs
What would he say if she confronted him?
"You cannot offer me sex and 
I got it elsewhere"
She ignored it for six months
One day, her mother came around and 
saw it!
Her mother was livid 
Her mother confronted her husband
Told him "You were the least of her
admirers, he settled for you out of so many
options and you dare treat her like this?"
Her husband walked out of the house
without a word!
He never returned!
And she was back to square one
Without a friend, without a husband, without
a baby!
She was left with nothing!
After weeks of mopping, she called her
school mother!
They talked!
Her school mother was travelling to Germany
for six weeks
Her school mother asked her to come around
Have a change of scene
Help supervise the two housemaids
Help the children aged 6 and 4 with their
homework
She felt it would do her some good
She went!
The very night her school mother left
She couldn't say why she did it
Perhaps she missed being the subject of
affection of another
Perhaps she was just on a self-destructive
mode
She used the powder and the string on
her school mother's husband!
He fell for it!
He was all over her as they drove home from the airport and had sex on her school mother's matrimonial bed that same night!
She enjoyed it!
Not the sex per se!
But the "I can get your man" to sleep with
me at will thing!
It gave her a rush!
A giddy feeling!
She liked it!
She had no intention of marrying her school
mother's husband
They had sex as often as possible
Her school mother returned from her trip
It changed nothing
She continued to sleep with her school
mother's husband at least twice a month!
Somehow her school mother heard
All it took was a phone call!
She was with her mother when the call
came in
She picked the call, she heard a sharp 
sound like an electronic interference
hoot and she started talking gibberish!
Before her mother made sense of what
had happened, she was virtually naked!
She was taken to a psychiatric hospital
that morning!
After her admission, her mother did not
relent!
She went to the School mother's house
to plead for leniency and mercy!
The school mother did not deny her
involvement in the issue!
She even gave an ultimatum of 61 days!
"Your daughter bit the finger that
fed her, I will teach her a lesson she
will never forget!"
Her mother reached out to the Brother
in Jeans and T-shirt
"Sir, she is not responding to treatment!
She is getting worse! 
She is my only child
Please don't let me die naked"
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt went
to the hospital!
Certain things must move a Christian,
one of them is compassion!
Jesus never had the "You deserved"
this attitude to anybody regardless
of the gravity of the transgression of 
such!
She was in a straightjacket when he saw 
her
The doctor said she was very violent and
had to be restrained from injuring herself
Her eyes were sunken and lost!
The sight was very disturbing
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt laid hands 
on her
He prayed in tongues silently
He prayed until he felt the dam broke
She started to sniffle, then she cried silently
Her mother started calling her name,
talking to her!
She started responding, she nodded her head
at first and later started to talk
She asked for water
She drank a lot of water
All this time the brother in Jeans and T-shirt's
hand was still on her head
He just didn't feel the urge to let her go
He spoke to her, he told her what had
happened
She remembered everything, 
She cried, she told her story
The visitation took two hours
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt told
the mother to read the Bible to her in the
morning, afternoon and in the evening!
There is nothing as effective as the WORD
when it comes to rebuilding shattered
consciousness or a broken reality!
She was healed!
She was not discharged immediately
She was kept for nine more days
Her mother brought her to the office of
the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt straight
from the hospital when she was discharged!
He led her and her mother to Christ!
There is only one strong tower that keeps
us safe from the arrows of the enemy!
It is the name of Jesus!
They were both baptized in the Holy Spirit!
 
PS: It's been three years
She had gone to her old friend, now married
to a Pastor to apologise and make peace
She had also called her school mother to
apologise
Her school mother and her husband had
parted ways (Due to reasons not related
to her)
At first, she said she wouldn't get married
or have any relationship again
Until she got a job as a marketer with
a fruit juice manufacturing company
One of her clients observed her work
ethics and propositioned her to go into
business with him
She agreed
They bought a container and became 
major distributors of the product in Ikorodu
He proposed a year later
She married him
She delivered a baby boy at 5 AM of
13th November 2019!

You can never be too wrong,
you can never be too lost
you can never be in too deep
If you reach out now, wherever
you may be!
Jesus will deliver you
He will set you on course for
a glorious reality!
Christ in you! The hope of glory!
