The Infestation

He was 13 years old when it all began!
Their uncle, his father's younger brother
who was trained  by his father was involved
in a motor accident on the major highway
leading to their village!
It was arounf 3 AM when his father was roused
from sleep by the screams of his grandmother!
The adults tried as much as pssible to hush the
issue, but despair hung in the air like stale
ciagrette smoke
His father, mother and some other adults left
the village for the hospital in the city within
the hour
All the children were packed into a room
His elder sister, the oldest of them all was put
in charge!
The fear and the air of uncertainty in the room
was psychologically unbearable
Somehow he was able to sleep off
He didnt know how but sleep rescued him
He knew something terrible had happened
He knew it would be a very bad Christmas!
Around 9AM the next morning
His parents and the other adults returned
They had all travelled home from the city 
for the Christmas holiday
His uncle was on his way to the village when
the car crash happened
But the discourse had changed somehow...
Even though they were all speaking in low tones
and coding their words, he was old enough to
know they were not mourning yet...
Around noon all the adults disappeared again!
He heard his grandmother saying, "Everything
will go to strangers if we don't do something
now! We have to do whatever it takes!"
It sounded as if there was still room to do
something about whatever they were dealing
with!
Later that evening the adults returned!
They picked a very black goat from the compound
and dropped all the women!
Only their grandmother, his father, his grandmother's
younger brother and two other male family
members left this time!
His mother sat with them silently!
Soon, another woman, his grandmother's
younger brother's wife came over their house
The silence between them could fill up an
audio tape
The woman asked his mother what he thought
His mother kept silent 
The woman said "He was not dead because he
was still breathing but the doctors said he was
brain dead! Your husband's mother would not
listen to reason, she should let him go and rest!
The men ought to prevail upon her
She is pulling at the testicles of the devil!
This thing will boomerang! 
When it becomes an issue, you will know that
I have said my own!"
His mother just sighed
His mother was very good at being silent!
She had learnt not to get quoted especially
when she was in deliberations with her
in-laws!
Marriage is a boat steered by the tongue!
When the woman waited for a long time 
without getting a response, she took her leave!
Her mother waited some minutes after the
woman had left before turning to her!
Her mother said "Your Uncle So and so,
the one dealing in aquamarine stone and 
other gems had an accident on his way to 
the village and is in critical condition!
He had been declared brain dead and had
been kept alive only by the help of some
machines in the hospital!
He is a very rich man so money is not an issue!
Your grandmother and other men in the family
are looking for a way to resuscitate him!
Your grandmother is scared, the family will
be left empty handed if he died without 
settling his estate!
It was all about the money!
The family didnt want his wife taking away
all his wealth both at home and abroad
They had gone to witchdoctors and other
spiritualists
The option they were given was to raise him
from the dead for a period of three months
or at most one year
The rite is called "Life redemption"
A goat will be buried alive with a young
banana tree and other items of sacrifice
in exchange for his life
Once this was done in the dead of the night
He would rise to life with the sun in the 
morning and live to settle his affairs before
the buried goat finished decaying!
The rite could be renewed but not for more
than two times in case the dead still had 
issues to settle beyond the one year period!
The family agreed to it and had gone ahead
to carry out the sacrifice!"
He didn't know what to say
He didn't even know why his mother told him!
The next day, around 1pm
His uncle came back to life in the hospital
He started responding to treatment
He spent the Christmas and New year in
the hospital 
They saw him twenty days after he came back
to life on January 3
He was frail, he was walking with a slight limp
but he was their uncle!
They went back to the city after the Christmas
holidays in late January
His uncle did as his relatives desired
He settled them all
His uncle bought a house for them and gave his
father some money to build his business 
His uncle did the same for the others
One year went by, then two and three...
His uncle kept fighting death off
with all sorts of sacrifices and spiritual
consultations
Eventually, five years after his uncle was raised
from the dead, he was travelling home for
the Christmas holiday and had another accident!
This time he mangled to death!
The family members had enough time to prepare
for it!
The chapter was closed!
But was it?
The family suddenly noticed seasonal infestations
Sometimes they would see maggots all over the house
Sometimes they would see flies all over the house
Sometimes they would see small snails and mistletoes
It always happened around the Christmas season
The atmosphere was always weird, stifling
And then somebody will die!
His grandmother was the first
She died the year after his resurrected uncle died again
The following year it was three women in the compound
His mother's younger brother's wife and two other
wives in the compound
The following year it was her uncle's wife and two 
of her children
They were on their way home for the Christmas holiday 
Christmas became synonymous with tears and sorrow
Soom the whole community was giving them
a wide berth
People knew something weird was going on
His mother and two cousins also died
They called herbalists, Pastors, spiritualists etc
The herbalist told them they had to return
to the spot where the goat and bana tree were
buried to make some sacrifices and undo the 
life redemption ritual!
All those who were involved in the sacrifice had
died!
They didn't even know who the herbalist that
did the sacrifice was
Elders in the village did a cleansing ritual
for the whole community
After the ritual, they had a family meeting
They were fast becoming pariah's in the village
The news was not good at all
They stopped going to the village
They all abandoned their compound
They hoped it would keep them far away from the 
radar of death
But death wasn't done with them
He travelled abroad for his first degree
He met his wife during his freshman year 
They both fell in love and decided to get married
He was 22 years old at the time
They got married at a very quiet ceremony
His wife got pregnant
The following December, right in their
studio apartment, he saw the little snails
they were everywhere
He lost it
His wife told him it was all superstiton
He shouldn't pay it any mind
The poor creatures could be reacting to the 
change in weather
Perhaps it was the snow
Three weeks later, his wife slumped and died
on the way to class
Nobody could state particularly the cause of
death
But he knew!
When he told his pastor
His pastor told him he had to go home and
deal with his foundational issues
He cried for many days
When he told his family members what happened
Fear gripped their hearts
They told him what they had also been going through
They had started experiencing the strange infestations
in their houses in the city
When they did, death followed!
Children were dying and so were adults
He woke up one day to find his house
infested with ladybugs and beetles
They were in their thousands
He wondered where they came from and how
they were able to infest the house in such
a great number
He reached out to the Brother in Jeans
and T-shirt
Can my family ever be free?
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told him
about a cultist he once prayed for
The cultist had gone so deep into the demonic
that everything edible in his house decayed
within 24 hours!
All the cultist had to do was accept Jesus Christ
as Lord and Saviour and receive the baptism
of the Holy Spirit!
He was lighted up by the Light of Christ
which lights up all human beings that come
into Zion by the will of the Father!
No deliverance, no warfare
The demons fled!
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt told him
the same applies!
Whosoever shall believe in the name of
the Lord shall be saved!
He belived!
He confessed Jesus Christ as His Lord and
saviour
His wife also did the same 
They were filled with the Holy Spirit 
He told them not to allow fear to fuel 
their prayer
It should be love and a desire to be in
fellowship with the fire
The warfare was over!
The wife requested that the house
and the children be anointed with oil!
This was done! 
And death passed over the family!
The infestation of lady bugs and beetles
disappeared!
They told the other family members
how they triumphed
Some believed them, some did not!
Those who believed gave their lives to Christ
the hand of affliction was stilled in their
homes too!

The Christmas of 2018 was the first one in many
years that was celebrated without tears and sorrow
The family is planning a thanksgiving crusade
of sorts for the Christmas of 2019 in which
minstrels and men of God would minister and
sould would would be reached with the Gospel
of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Whereever you are at this moment, you can call on
the name of Jesus! Ask him to come into your life!
Ask for the infilling of the Holy Spirit 
Change the story
Turn evil to good
