Prosper Through The Anointing

Prosper Through The Anointing

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)

This portion of Scripture is your guarantee for a life of supernatural abundance. I’ve often said that the Christian is not the poor trying to be rich, but the rich discovering his inestimable inheritance in Christ. There are Christians who don’t believe in prosperity, but what we read in the scripture above reveals that it’s God’s will for you to prosper. 3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

Not only does God want you healthy and strong, but He also wants you to prosper financially; it’s your God-ordained right, for you’re Abraham’s seed. The Bible says Abraham was blessed in all things (Genesis 24:1); he was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold (Genesis 13:2). In today’s language, it will be right to say he had a lot of money. As the seed of Abraham, you also have been blessed and enriched in all things unto all bountifulness: “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29).

You’re an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ; therefore, learn to talk big. Refuse to talk about poverty. When you talk big, and things start looking up for you in life, some people, especially the religious folks around you, will grumble at you and raise eyebrows. Don’t be moved by that. Just keep talking your way to abundance, and keep enjoying your prosperity in God. One thing religious folks can’t stand is our prosperity. It unsettles them and makes them restless: “…the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt” (Isaiah 57:20). But thank God the Bible says, “Good men everywhere will see it and be glad, while evil men are stricken silent” (Psalm 107:42 TLB).

Prosperity is your God-ordained right in Christ Jesus, so don’t let anyone deceive you. There’s nothing too good for you because you’re the king’s kid! Refuse to be broke. Make it a conscious confession as you live in the light of God’s Word daily.

Keep talking prosperity, and when you see a fellow brother or sister prospering, be happy and rejoice with him or her, for that’s the life to which we’ve been called as God’s children.

Prosperity has nothing to do with how hard you fast and pray; it’s the Lord’s doing. God is the One who prospers you. He delights in your prosperity (Psalm 35:27). You don’t have to wonder whether or not God wants you to prosper. He doesn’t want you to put your trust in step-by-step human calculations, because that won’t work. They may seem to work for some time, but they won’t last. True and lasting prosperity comes by grace.

A story is told in Mark 10 of a rich young ruler’s attitude to wealth. He wanted to know what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus told him to obey all the commandments, but he said, “Master, all these have I observed from my youth.” The Bible says Jesus looked at him with love and said to him, “Go and sell all that you have, and give it to the poor, and come and follow me” (Mark 10:21). At that, the rich young ruler went away sad. He was tied to his possessions, for the Bible says he had great possessions, or, as someone rightly put it, “his great possessions had him.”

Jesus then looked around and said to His disciples, “…How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!” (Mark 10:23). Jesus was letting them understand that salvation wasn’t going to be by their money or great possessions but by the Spirit of God. Jesus wanted the rich young man to put his trust, not in his wealth, but in God, the giver of wealth.
Your prosperity isn’t dependent on any man, your business, the systems and governments of this world, or the economy, but on God. It’s by His grace. Now you can understand why He says in 2 Corinthians 9:8: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” The power that God gives His children to get wealth is spiritual power, not political power or economic power. It’s the power He gives every Christian to propagate God’s righteous course. Praise God!

Psalm 1:3 says concerning the one who delights in the Word and meditates on it day and night: “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
In the world today, many are confused, not knowing which way to go. For example, people switch jobs and businesses, looking for the one that’s more “lucrative”. As a Christian, you should be led by the Spirit, because you’re the seed of Abraham. Anything you touch is blessed. Everything you do prospers. Your decisions or choices shouldn’t primarily be motivated by financial factors but by the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Your success or prosperity is about who you are and not about what business or job you do. You carry a blessing. When you step into a place, things start working!

Don’t say, “I want to travel to such-and-such a place because it’s a good place”; no, you’re the good place. You’re a delightsome land! You’re the symbol of God’s blessings wherever you are, for you’re the carrier of His presence and His grace. When you show up, blessings show up, like Joseph in the house of Potiphar. The Bible says Potiphar recognised that the Lord was with Joseph and that all he did prospered. Therefore, he placed Joseph in charge of his entire household and estate, and God blessed him for Joseph’s sake (Genesis 39:1-5).

It’s your heritage as the seed of Abraham, not only to be blessed but also to be a blessing. Those around you—your friends, colleagues, neighbours, etc.—should notice that because of you, favour has come to them; there’s expansion in their business and progress in the entire city.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8).”

When you align your life with God’s instructions, for example, in the area of finances, one of the immediate blessings you’re likely to observe is that your expenditure keeps getting lower. It’s another facet of God’s blessing. He doesn’t just bless you by increasing your income; He also blesses you by reducing your expenditure. Why is that so?

It’s part of the result of the grace of God at work in your life; recall what we read in our opening scripture. Furthermore, He also made provision to keep the devourer away from you: “…I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts” (Malachi 3:11).

The devourer is Satan or whatever he uses to consume or eat away your resources and your finances. Examples are damages, repairs and losses leading to high cost of maintenance. The Bible says, “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22).

God won’t bless you and then have you toil, struggle and spend so much to keep or maintain what He’s given you. His idea for your prosperity is addition or multiplication and abundance, not replacements. But you must act on His Word. He instructs you to bring your tithes, offerings and oblations and challenges you to prove Him. He says not only will you receive an abundance, but the devourer will have no access to what belongs to you. In other words, you won’t have a car that constantly needs repairs. You’ll suffer no damage or losses requiring costly fixes.

Consider yourself so blessed that everything that comes to you works perfectly, lasts long and serves its purpose. Just as you’re God’s excellent handiwork, fashioned for good works, He has also ordained for your possessions to last, your resources to be preserved, and your finances to be supernaturally sustained. This is your reality in Christ. The key is speaking and doing His Word.
