Smoke Screen

Her parents made marriage seem like a sort of heaven to her
They were very much into each other
They could practically read each other's mind
They were both good Christians and taught her to trust the Holy Spirit with all her heart
As a teenager her mother taught her to pray about her marital destiny
Her mother always told her how she almost missed her own marital destiny due to many factors but for the Holy Spirit!
Her parents became an item in Germany
According to her Father, he was studying International 
Relations and was invited to a party being 
hosted by another student whose parents were
big time politicians back home and had more than
enough money to throw around
All he thought he would get out of the party was free food,
some familiar faces
When he got there, he saw the rich politician's son
and then he saw "Her"
Her face looked so familiar but he couldn't be sure
The last time he saw someone who looked at her was 
in Jos, Nigeria
The lady left Nigeria when they were in ND 2
He didn't know why she disappeared or to where
They were classmates!
He had a huge crush on her but he didn't have
the opportunity to express himself before she vanished
She was with the rich boy
 Everything in him was screaming with excitement
He made inquiries about her
A friend told him she was studying in France
She came to Germany for the party
She was the "babe" of the rich boy
He stood there sipping his drink
His eyes trained on her like a laser beam
Eventually he saw an opening
She was going to the restroom
He followed her at a distance and positioned 
himself in such a way that when she was 
returning from the restroom, they would at least 
have eye contact
He waited for seven minutes
She emerged in her flowery red gown
He didn't say a word, he just stood there confidently
looking at her
She saw him and stopped
"So and so" she called his name
He smiled! "I wasn't sure if it was you or if you will 
recognize me"
They chatted for a few minutes
She told him she was studying History in France
They chatted for a few more minutes
She told him to wait while she retrieves her handbag
He waited, thinking she used some tactics to 
politely leave him hanging
She returned in a few minutes and they 
left the party
That was how they became an item
She told him someone introduced her to the 
politician's son but she really didn't like him
Their relationship was that of two pigeons
They drank of the same rivers of love and
basked in the euphoria of the reality they
created together
That was how she met them
Ever cheerful, loving, kissing, holding hands, 
whispering
speaking strange language to each other 
and chasing
each other all over the house like little children
If her parents ever had a row or a disagreement
She never saw them at it
She longed so much for a life partner of her own
her own lovey-dovey partner
Someone to navigate the waters of life with
She met him during her youth service
They were having their community development project
He wasn’t really like her father
He was tall and dark and kept a beard 
While her father was of average height and clean shaven 
But there was something about him that attracted her like a magnet
He was quiet, thoughtful and deliberate 
She had always admired intentional people
They are not easily carried away by the whims and caprices of the time
She tried not to chat him up later in the day
She wanted to but she didn’t want to seem too forward 
Two days later, he approached her himself 
He wanted to buy her lunch
He said “I hope you won’t take this the wrong way but i will like to buy you lunch! I just felt drawn to you”
And that was that!
She had desired him and pinned for him in secret
He took her to a local food vendor 
She ordered a simple meal 
Once they started talking, she knew he was the one
His voice sounded like velvet and silk in her ears
He made her feel warm and happy
He also made her laugh effortlessly
They became fast friends
Within a week he knew where she was staying and he knew hers
They were even holding hands and taking strolls in the evening 
She was falling in love
He took her to a park one evening and told her his story 
He told her he was gay
It was a lifestyle that was thrust upon him when he was a teenager
He didn’t ask for it and the lines seemed pretty blurry at the moment for him
He had been a Christian for two years and kept away from the homosexual lifestyle
She would be his first attempt at dating 
He wanted to go out with her and explore the possibilities of marriage
But he wanted her to know who he was
He wanted her to know everything about him so that she will take helping him seriously in case they decided to become more than friends
He poured out his heart
She listened
Later in the day she settled down in her room and cried
She really liked him but how was she to cope 
with the fact that he was a homosexual?
It was too much for her to bear!
Later that night as she was about to sleep she prayed 
“God i have never done anything without you! I am very confident you said “he is the one” when I prayed
Didn’t I hear you clearly?
Please let me know what you have in mind for me, guide me and show me your path of faithfulness in this relationship in Jesus name. Amen!
At 5AM in the morning, she woke up and walked from her room to the dinning room
Once at the dinning room, she found a table set before her
Her man was the one who set the table
All of her favorite dishes were on the table and the aroma was glorious
Once it was done, he took a table cloth and covered everything with a mischievous smile on his face!
She found herself back on the bed immediately 
Wow!
It was a vision.
She said “Holy Spirit please what does this mean? Please confirm your word”
After a few minutes she went to have her bath
As she undressed she understood!
It just came to her!
She had her bath and dressed up
The rest of the day was a blur
He came to her house at 6pm
She invited him in
She set the table just the way she saw it and invited him to the dinning to eat
“why did you cover the food with a table cloth?”
He asked her
She laughed!
She said “The Holy Spirit told me you are not a homosexual, you were testing me to see if I will stand by you through thick or thin!
Our future is the table that was set
This smokescreen is the table cloth you used
to cover it up 
You wanted to know if I will be hasty and walk away at the first hint of trouble 
Or if I have the insight to see beyond the obvious”
He stood where he was and shook his head!
He couldn’t believe the precision of her explanation!
He said “You are right!”
He brought out the wedding ring and went of his knees
“Will you marry me?”
She walked up to him and pulled him up
“Yes I will marry you” she replied!

Ps: He said he had used the same line for five other ladies
He just wanted to see how far the ladies would be willing to go for him in the name of love
None of the ladies gave him a second look afterwards 
Until he met her
With the guiding hand of the Holy Spirit, she solved the puzzle!
They got married a year later (August 2013)
They have three children
