She didn't know exactly what 
she did to be hated 
Her mother and father had sex 
in secondary school 
Her mother got pregnant 
Her father denied the pregnancy 
Her grandfather on the paternal side 
reversed her father's decision 
and took her and her mother in 
She was delivered!
Her father refused to have anything
 to do with her mother 
Her mother's patents had practically 
disowned her 
Her grandfather sponsored her mother's 
education 
He took her mother as a daughter 
He didn't judge or criticize 
He was a wonderful Christian 
The best of a rare kind
Her mother became a lawyer 
Her father became a lawyer 
Both attended different schools 
Because of her mother 
Her father refused to come home 
for the holidays 
Her father believed her mother 
was being forced down his throat 
He refused to have anything to do 
with her too 
Her Father hated her
Her grandfather said he was aware 
of the relationship between her father 
and her mother 
He warned her father several times 
He also warned her grandmother to 
talk to her father
Her father refused to listen 
When the consequences of his action 
came 
He denied it 
Her grandfather found this to 
be ungodly and wicked 
He did everything to get her mother
on her feet 
But that was the best he could do 
He couldn't force her father to marry 
her mother 
Her grandfather's decision to take 
responsibility for her mother and 
the baby had practically torn his 
family apart
Her father and her grandmother 
were on the same side 
Her grandmother especially didn't have 
any moral qualms 
She had three sons and all of them 
kept several sex mates at the same time 
She didn't only turn a blind eye 
She encouraged them to have fun 
because life is short 
Just like the devil
When her mother got a job 
She moved out of her grandfather's house 
That was when her father stepped 
into the house for the first time in years
 Her mother regarded her grandfather 
as her father 
He did more than anybody could have done 
for her in life 
He secured her future
Her mother made sure she 
kept in touch with her grandfather 
Her father found another woman 
and remarried 
Her mother also remarried 
Both of them had other children 
Her grandfather had adopted her
 by then 
He did it officially 
He named her in his will as his last child 
He loved her
Her father hated that
 So did her grandmother
 And her stepmother 
Why was her grandfather treating 
her like a gem 
Was it to deliberately rub a mistake in 
their faces all the time 
Her father could barely stand her sight 
The few occasions they met, 
he could barely control his anger
Her mother didn't understand it 
Her father was not asked to pay 
a dime in her upkeep 
Her mother joyfully made sure she
lacked nothing
What then did her father have against 
her? 
Her mother wanted it resolved 
Even if they couldn't love each other 
They ought to be civil to each other
Her mother spoke with her grandfather 
He was already seventy five years old 
Her mother wanted him to find a way
to solve the problem 
A meeting was called 
Her grandfather chaired the meeting 
Her grandfather pleaded 
He apologized for his stance 
He told them it had turned out well
Both children are successful and 
happily married 
He had three boys biologically and 
he adopted a daughter to balance it 
He told them to bury the hatchet 
Her father kept quiet 
Her stepmother said "Her name 
must be removed from the will and
she must be treated as a normal child
For peace to reign 
What is the lot of my own children? 
If she would be regarded as an official 
child of grandpa by adoption! 
Her grandfather told them an adopted
 child cannot be disowned! 
He didn't take the decision lightly! 
She must belong to somebody and 
since nobody wanted her
He had taken her and given her 
his name
He steps mother fumed 
Her father was furious 
Her grandmother was shocked 
Her father's younger brothers 
had all fathered children outside
 wedlock 
Her grandfather didn't adopt those 
children 
Why her? 
Why her mother? 
What was between her grandfather 
and her mother?
Her grandfather was shocked! 
They thought her grandfather 
was treating them special because 
he had something sexual with her 
mother at one point or the other! 
Her grandfather lost his cool! 
He told all of them he would disown
them and strike their name off his 
will if they dont apologise! 
They grumbled but they did! 
The matter died like that 
It was unresolved 
The meeting didn't make them 
like her 
She still had nobody she belonged to 
Her mother had her family 
Her father had his family 
Her grandfather had his family 
Why couldn't somebody be kind to her?
What did she do wrong?
When she clocked 30, she was still alone 
Her relationships were not working out! 
Her grandfather was in his eighties 
and going senile 
She fell into depression 
Her life as a loner was terrible 
She attempted suicide! 
Luckily, she was rushed to the hospital 
just in time to be saved
Everybody wondered why she did it 
Her mother was especially perturbed
She didn't know how to explain to them 
that she didn't feel she belonged to #
anyone or anywhere
She needed to be loved 
The world is a harsh place without love 
Her mother called the Brother in 
Jeans and T-shirt 
"Can you help my daughter?"
The brother in Jeans a and T-shirt 
met with her 
He told her about a spring of joy 
So full of boundless energy and 
glorious waves like the sea 
She said she had never seen 
the Holy Spirit like that before
 So he showed her more 
She liked the Holy Spirit 
The received Jesus as her Lord and
Saviour 
She got filled with the Holy Spirit 
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt 
told her she couldn't attract the 
right love because she had been 
desperately seeking affection 
from people 
Love attracts love 
If you dont have it, you can never 
attract it! 
She understood 
Love found her
Seven months later 
She called 
A man she met on a flight to 
Port-Harcourt had started taking 
handshake beyond the elbow 
The brother is a Christian 
Her hearts wanted him 
But she was wary of making a mistake
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt 
told her to follow the leading of 
the Holy Spirit! 
She did! 
She got married

PS: It's been four years 
They have two children 
Her father was at her wedding 
So was her mother 
Even her stepmother came 
Somehow the animosity reduced 
Her grandfather died in June 2016 
at a ripe old age 
She never fell into depression again 
His love redefined her reality
