Causeless

His mother called him while he was in the very last week of his final year in the University

His mother was very troubled

As soon as he heard her voice, he trembled

“Mummy, mummy, what is the problem?” He asked

His mother was hypertensive and also suffered from arthritis

He was aware of how much money the family had spent on his mother to keep her alive

He didn’t like her getting agitated for any reason

His mother finally calmed down and spoke

“My son, ha, I mourn you today while you are still alive! A prophet I know whose words does not fail told me you will die tomorrow by 12 noon! He said there is nothing that could be done to prevent it and if I have any last words to discuss with you, I should call you and discuss such with you!

I begged him to please speak a word and spare your life

He refused, saying what he had spoken had been spoken!

I have been in deep sorrow since I got that message!

He: Mummy who is this prophet?

His mother: He was the one that prophesied that so and so’s son would travel to Germany within six months and it was so. He was the one that prophesied that Mr so and so and Mrs so and so who had been separated for thirteen years would reconcile and come back together and it was so, he was the one that prophesied that Dr. this and that would become a member of the federal House of reps two years ago! The doctor laughed it off but today the doctor is a federal lawmaker! This prophet is a man of God! He is a teacher and he knows the counsel of God! His words has never failed before!

I am sorry if I have failed you in any way my son!

I love you

He started laughing!

He: Mummy, I am not dying, not physically, not spiritually and not emotionally! I have a glorious future ahead of me! Tell the prophet I said, this time, he didn’t hear from God! I am my own prophet by the power of the Holy Spirit and the glory of the Most High God!

He cut the call and shrugged off the thought

He didn’t pay any attention to the words of his mother

The next day he stayed in his room throughout listening to sermons on Youtube!

He slept and woke up around 4pm

He checked his phone he has had almost 70 missed calls

His family members and friends had been calling his line while he was asleep

He laughed and dropped the phone

He wouldn’t waste his money calling those who wanted to confirm if he was dead or alive

He knew they would call back

A curious heart is difficult to satisfy with silence

Soon enough, his sister called

He: Hello

His Sister: Hey! Hallelujah! My brother, thank God you are alive! We had all practically concluded that you were dead when we didn’t hear from you! We have all been trying to reach you

He: I am fine and I have no intention of dying so what was the noise about?

His sister: Do you know Brother So and so?

He: Yes, the prayer leader of so and so chapel

His sister: Yes. He died this afternoon!

He: What!

His sister: His mother and our mother went to see that prophet a few days ago. He gave the two of them the same message! He told them he had been praying over the vision for several weeks in order to change the vision but he decided to deliver the message when God refused to change it!

He told the two of them that by 12 noon today you and the woman's son would be dead! As soon as that brother’s mother got home, she told him what the prophet said! The brother started fasting immediately, three days without food or water and early this morning he embarked on a journey to a prayer mountain. Around 11:45 -12:13, he had a flat tyre on the expressway and parked to fix it. A trailer lost balance and crushed him beside the road! He is dead!

He: What!

His sister: That was why we were all trying to call you. We thought you must surely be dead because Mummy didn’t give you enough time to fast and pray and wrestle the devil like the brother did and if despite all he did, the prophecy came to pass then it is inevitable that you would have died also!

He laughed

He: There is a big difference between faith and fear! If you fast and pray in fear, it will amount to nothing but human activity!

I am sorry that the brother died but he must have been scared witless by the prophecy of that prophet! Fear only brings torment but faith pleases God!

God showed me my future several years ago!

I saw what my tomorrow looked like!

I know I cannot die at this time!

When my mother called me and told me what the prophet said, I was shielded automatically by faith and I couldn’t process it into my spirit

I heard it but it felt like receiving an email message meant for someone else, I didn’t even bother opening it before deleting it

I knew it was not for me!

I ate well and slept well and today I listened to messages like I usually do after reading my Bible and I slept like a baby!

I didn’t even hear my phone ringing until I woke up after four hours of sound sleep!

His Sister: I thank God for you bro. I will call Mummy and tell her the good news!

As soon as her sister rang off, he started laughing

He was not the kind of Christian who takes any junk thrown to him by anybody saying he or she is talking for God!

God does not kill his children!

Only a wicked Father would do that!

God is a good Father!

A Good! Good!! Father!!!

The scripture clearly says God does not want the death of sinners, how then would God want the death of a believer!

Such messages are from the devil

He is the father of all lies

His job is to kill, to steal and to destroy

Every time a message of death comes from a prophet or a pastor, no matter how Holy and true such a man of God, it is usually in form of a warning!

If somebody was towing a path of destruction, God would say, “So and so, change your ways or you will die”. This doesn’t mean God will kill the person, it means the consequence of the lifestyle of such a person will lead to his or her destruction!

If such a person heard the warning and change his ways, death would easily be averted but if such a person persist in towing the path of destruction, such a person will die!

It is that simple!

Jonah was sent to Nineveh

Jonah desired that Nineveh be destroyed

Jonah refused to deliver God’s message to Nineveh

God forced Jonah to go to Nineveh

Jonah delivered the message

The city of Nineveh repented

God showed mercy

That is the nature of prophecy!

David Killed Uriah

Nathan came to tell David God’s counsel

David repented

God showed mercy!

The devil desired to sift Peter away

Jesus prayed for Peter

Jesus prophesied that Peter will deny him

Peter denied the Lord

Jesus restored Peter!

The action of the subject of a prophecy has a lot to do with the fulfillment of such!

So many people with very positive prophesies haven’t seen it fulfilled because they didn’t walk in a manner consistent with the fulfillment of such a prophecy!

Prophecies do not automatically come to pass in the New Testament

When Agabus told Paul he would be captured and imprisoned by the Jews if he went to Jerusalem

The church begged Paul not to travel to Jerusalem

If he didn’t travel, the prophecy wouldn’t come to pass

But he chose to travel and the prophecy came to pass

The believer is a life giving spirit, he is not subjected to the kingdom of darkness or the agency of evil in any way, manner or form!

Few weeks later he returned home from school

His mother held on to him and cried her eyes out

She stopped going to consult that prophet!

She didn’t tell anybody why!

He lived!

He got a job in the north and lived there for four years before he was transferred back to the South-west of Nigeria

PS: He is married and have two children

Seven years after the prophecy, he is still alive!

This event happened in Ibadan, Nigeria

The prophecy was given in 2011

The prophet died three years ago (2015)

The young man is alive and well, he is 36 years old!
