Christ Is Your Control
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).
In Colossians 1, the Apostle Paul spoke plainly when he explained the Gospel as it pertains to the Gentiles. I want you to understand the construction in the twenty-seventh verse: “…this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
A “mystery” connotes esoteric communication or language; something revealed, but only to a select few. That mystery, the Bible says, is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
What does this truth mean? First, it means glory revealed, glory realized, glory manifested in your life! The reproaches are gone; you now have a life of honour and excellence.
When Christ is manifested in the life of a sinner, the power of sin is broken and righteousness takes effect. When He’s manifested in the life of one who’s been bound, the chains are broken, and deliverance takes place. When He’s manifested in your life, everything that’s of darkness is dispelled.
It reminds one of Peter’s encounter with Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years, but he was a Christian. Peter didn’t have to pray for him; all he said was, “Aeneas, Christ makes you well: rise up!” Immediately, the man jumped off his sickbed (Acts 9:33-34).
If you’re sick in your body today, what you need is the manifestation of Christ in your physical body. The consciousness of the life of Christ in you will make you invincible and eternally triumphant.
Now that you’re born again, the life in you is the supernatural life of Christ. Christ has fully tabernacled in you! You’ve become His living headquarters; He looks through your eyes and walks with your legs because you’ve become His vessel, His body.
Meditate on the scripture above. Lie on your bed and repeat them out loud again and again. Walk around thinking and muttering, “Christ is in me.” I did this many years ago, and it sure transformed my life. I needed to capture the essence and reality of that verse. I wanted it to soak into my spirit, and it did!
“Christ in you” isn’t a religious talk; it’s a divine reality. Sadly, the power of that reality isn’t yet as effective in the lives of some as it should be. That’s the reason for their whining and grumbling; the lack, headaches, and fevers they complain of. It’s the reason some have wounds, sicknesses, and diseases that are said to be incurable.
How could you be sick if indeed Christ indwells your physical body? Remember Aeneas, who, though a Christian, had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years. Then came Peter to his house. All that Peter said was, “Aeneas, Christ makes you well: get up!” Immediately, the man was healed.
Peter understood the reality, the power, and the essence of Christ living in a man. What did Paul say in Romans 8:10? He said, “And if Christ is in you, although the body may be dead because of sin, the Spirit gives it life because of righteousness.”
Before Christ came into you, your body was death-doomed or death-prone. You were susceptible to the curse of sin and were therefore subject to Satan, condemnation, sickness, disease, poverty, and death.
The Bible says, “…if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11 NKJV). This has already happened. The Spirit lives in you now and has given life, vitalized your mortal or hitherto death-doomed body.
Your life now that you are born again is death-proof. You have to insist on that; otherwise, you’ll be buffeted by the elements of life. But when you consciously meditate on Christ and His life in you, He’ll manifest Himself in your physical body and dispel everything that’s not of God. Christ in you is the greatest blessing of all!
“Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Now, while salvation is you in Christ, Christianity is Christ in you. Christianity is Christ alive and manifested in you every day. No wonder in Ephesians 5:30, Paul tells us something so profound: “For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.” This powerful imagery reinforces the inextricable union we have with Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:15 NKJV says, “Do you not know that your bodies are the members of Christ…?” In other words, your limbs are the limbs of Christ. Your hands, feet and voice are all imbued with His presence and power. When you speak, it’s Christ speaking through you. When you minister to others, it’s Christ ministering to them through you.
The Master Himself declared, “He that heareth you heareth me…” (Luke 10:16). This is the profound reality of Christ in us.
Therefore, knowing this truth, you can boldly proclaim, “Every fibre of my being, every bone of my body, every cell of my blood, from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet, is all fully inundated with the life of God.”
You’re the embodiment of God’s glory; everywhere you go, you carry His presence and manifest His glory. You have the privilege of being the conduit of divine verities.
Some people lament how they’ve done everything they know to do, yet their lives are still at variance with the realities of God’s Word. They ask such questions as, “What more should I do to prosper?” “What more should I do to be healed?” They’re faced with these and other questions in their lives for which they seek answers.
Now, I’ve got something to tell you about this, and it’s very important: One day, I was having this wonderful fellowship with the Lord about the amazing things that the prophets did in the Old Testament and the amazing abilities that He gave to His children.
As I cogitated on these things, looking through the Scriptures, I pondered, “What does God want? What’s His plan? If we were to ask Him for anything, what should we ask for?”
Then, the Lord said to me, “Whatever good thing you could ever desire is nothing compared to the ‘one thing needful,’ which you already have: Christ in you!”
Christ in you covers everything; it’s the biggest thing we got from God. Your recognition and acknowledgement of this truth will stop your hunger and desire for anything else; you’ll virtually find it foolish to ask God for anything else.
If you can only accept that Christ has taken up His residence in the quarters of your heart, it’ll change your life. Everything that He gives is in Him.
Everything that He is, is in Him. Remember, the fullness of the Godhead—the totality of divinity—bodily dwells in Christ Jesus; and we’re complete in Him. If this is true, then what else do you want?
That’s why Paul said, “All things are yours”; the world is yours (1 Corinthians 3:21-22). Once you have this consciousness, the world becomes so small to you.
Your boldness becomes so strong; you’ll have no fear of the future, no fear of darkness, failure or lack, because in Him, you have, and you’ve overcome all things; you’re more than a conqueror. Blessed be His Name forever!
