Common Greek Words Used In Sermons

 

1. Ginosko- to have the understanding, or knowledge by revelation. Ephesians 3:19

2. Epiginosko- knowledge that unites the one who knows with what he knows. It's knowledge with involvement. 1 Timothy 4:3.

3. Gnosis- knowledge based on science or intellectual activity. Ephesians 3:19.

4. Epignosis- exact or precise knowledge; full knowledge with intimacy. It means full comprehension, recognition, or perception. 2 Peter 1:3.

5. Phronesis- wisdom of the righteous. It's a force, a spiritual elixir that places you within the ambit of God's will. It works beyond your natural understanding to cause you to do God's things God's way, in God's time and for God's purpose. 1 Kings 4:29-30.

6. Apokalupsis (revelation)- means the unveiling of mysteries; an insight into reality. Ephesians 1:17.

7. Photizo (enlightened)- which means to turn on the light in your heart. Ephesians 1:18.

8. Aido- it means to become aware, or to have knowledge with awareness. 1 Corinthians 2:12-13, Romans 8:28.

9. Eirene (peace)- is akin to the Hebrew word "shalom" which means peace without agitation, full of rest and prosperity. John 14:27, John 16:33

10. Phaneros (appear)- it means to spread abroad. 1 Timothy 4:15.

11. Allos Parakletos- which means "another of the same kind".

12. Lambano (receive)- which means to take possession of; to take something and make it yours. John 16:24.

13. Teleios - perfect; maturity; completeness; being brought to full age. Colossians 4:12

14. Logizomai - to take inventory or stock of something so as to be certain. Romans 6:11

15. Prokopai (profiting) - furtherance, a progress, an advancement.

16. Sophia (Wisdom): insight into reality, broad and full of intelligence

17. Suneses: Analytical Wisdom

18. Phronesis: Practical Wisdom

19. Charis (Grace):the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): - acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (-ious), joy liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).

20. huios: Mature or skilled son. which refers to the sons of figurative kingship

21. nēpios : an infant, little child metaphorically childish, untaught, unskilled

22. ethnos : a group, company, people with the same nature or genus; a grouap with common characteristics, vision, trade etc.

23. Pachaz: unrestrained; undisciplined; undependable; unstable

24. Pleroo: to be full and in to be in need of nothing.

25. Radah: the right power to rule/govern, a government over the earth

26. Hikanotes: to have competence or ability, the quality of being adequately fortified and enabled physically, intellectually, mentally, and spiritually for any task!

27. Dunamis: inherit power; dynamic ability to cause changes. Working ability or miracle working ability.

28. Aphiemi: let go or have freedom.

29. Suniyami: sagacious, perspicuous.

30. Exousia: which is authority; delegated power.

31. Dokimazo - to test, examine, prove, scrutinise (to see whether a thing is genuine or not).
