Devakut

Devakut

He had assumed all the pastors
in Pentecostal churches made the
effort to reproduce divine realities
in their parishes
He was not born in the Pentecostal
church
He was born and bred in the orthodox
churches and he had seen firsthand
their dependence on medicine and
hospitals as the ultimate touch of
the divine regarding their health
There was a Sunday service he would
never forget
It was held at the orthodox church he
grew up attending
The Pastor suddenly declared a Sunday
"Testimony" Sunday and encouraged
church members to come to the altar
and share something remarkable God
had done for them in recent years,
months and days!
These are dedicated Christians who
paid their tithes and gave their offerings
and attended church services with
reverence and devotion
There had never been a testimony
service before (At least he had never
witnessed one in his twenty years in
the church)
He expected many hands to be thrown
in the air
It was not to be
Only three hands were raised
The first, a woman who was able to
secure some mortgage from the bank
to buy a house at an elitist estate
The second, a woman who had cancer,
went in for surgery six times and made
it out alive
The third, a woman who was able to
secure promotion in her office after
the last appraisal done by the
management of the office she was
working in
The service was considered a huge
success
People talked about the service for
weeks but it was discouraging for him
How can people be dragged to a
church every Sunday and at least one
day during the week and not have
anything to show for the presence of
the one who they worship?
How can His divine power not be
evident in their lives?
He just knew something was wrong
He had seen more miracles in the
white garment church his girlfriend
was attending at the time
Even though the spirit at work in the
church was very questionable, the
miracles were real
He saw a man who was paralyzed
and rejected by hospitals brought
into his girlfriend's father's white
garment parish and within two weeks
the man was restored to full health
He saw it with his two eyes
He also saw a woman with a mental
problem healed completely in that
church
He often went to the church in order
to be with his girlfriend who was the
daughter of the shepherd
His mother was weary of the church
and warned him to keep away from
both the girl and the church because
they were using devilish means to
conjure signs and wonders
He got it
The question was if it was possible to
use devilish means to conjure miracle,
is it then impossible to get a miracle
through the right means?
His mother's church claimed they were
worshipping God in Spirit and truth
but he cannot see anything to prove
the church was more than a social
gathering pretending to gather in the
name of Jesus!
The presence of Jesus and the Holy
Spirit in their meeting was highly
debatable
They did nothing by the leading of the
Holy Spirit, even their leadership and
decision making was done by
democratic means
The sermons had no divine reference
Everything was logos
Rhema was forbidden
It was terrible
When he got to the University, he met
other students from different
backgrounds
A student started a fellowship which
he called "Home Alive" fellowship
He saw miracles without any hint of
the demonic or the works of
darkness
A lot of students were healed of
genetic and incurable diseases with
evidence
A lot of students from broken homes
prayed in that fellowship and the
broken homes they came from were
healed
A lot of dangerous habits, addictions
and afflictions were healed in the
name of Jesus
The leader of the fellowship was not
from their denomination
He was from a pentecostal background
The school was owned by an orthodox
institution
The school authority did everything
within their power to shut down that
fellowship
Even the Vice-Chancellor had to admit
in public that the fellowship was a
blessing to the student's body but
had to be shut down due to doctrinal
differences
It was at that point that he decided
he must leave the denomination
It seemed to Him as if they want to
serve God from a distance
They dont want all the speaking in
tongues, raising the dead, healing
the sick, seeing visions, revelations,
walking with the Holy Spirit and so on
They just wanted to serve God to
satisfy their need for religion
After all, yearning for God was innate!
It was like Moses telling the children
of Israel that God was waiting for them
on the mountain and the children of
Israel saying to Moses
...You go and listen to god for us!
Let Him speak to you
We will rather stay here far away
from him and worship through an
intermediary
Whatever he tells you to tell us, we
will do but we do not want to know
him by ourselves!...
It felt like that to Him
He realized it was not as if they didn't
know there was a way to walk in deeper
and higher dimensions with the Holy
Spirit.
They have just made up their minds not
to do so
So he left the church as soon as he
graduated from their university
It had been 28 long years, his thirst
could no longer be satisfied by human
exegesis and the gift of the garb
He had seen the Lord, He had met the
Lord, He had become born again and
gotten filled with the Holy Spirit
He had also seen miracles, this time,
he was the one that prayed for the sick
and they recovered
He couldn't unsee what he had seen
and it was way past religion
So he joined the Pentecostal church,
but not for the sermon or the good
deeds
He joined the church in his search for
a fellowship that will keep his zeal
and fire from growing cold
Unfortunately, the pastor of the church
he joined was from the same orthodox
background he came from but the man
acts, thinks and talks like the orthodox
preachers!
It was ironic!
After one service in the church, he
decided to leave
It was obvious the church was not what
he was looking for
Iron was supposed to sharpen iron
He grew up watching his mother and
many of her friends and other church
members go from church to church
for fellowships and prayer meetings
during the week while attending the
spiritually docile denomination he
grew up in
He didn't want to end up like that
He wanted to grow in a church where
the spirit of God was given free
expression
He wanted to grow in a church where
members are growing in their walk
with the Holy Spirit as He trains and
teaches them to become Christ
He didn't want to be like Jesus in
the outward appearance and pious
deeds
He wanted to be like Jesus from within!
That night as he slept, he saw a vision
He saw that church (The one he was
planning to leave) during a Sunday
service
Service was over
The Pastor was driving out of the church
premises
He was standing at the balcony of the
church and watching as the pastor drove
away
He turned around and saw the members
all around him like a mob
They held on to his clothes asking him
for help
"Please help us"
"Please help us Sir"
"Help us"
"Help"
That was the sound he heard until he
woke up
The cry of help from the faces of people
he was in church with the previous day
He didn't have any rest throughout
that day
his plan to leave the church was
immediately suspended
The following Sunday, he approached
the pastor after service and brought up
the Idea of a church vigil and prayer
meetings
The pastor said "I don't believe in all
that, we meet in church for two or three
hours every Sunday, that should be
enough! People should pray at home.
Thats why we encourage members to
have prayer and fellowship with their
families!"
He was shocked, he couldn't even
pretend he wasn't
The pastor saw his countenance and
said "Okay, but let me warn you. The
members here dont come for vigils
We have tried it before.
Only I and some workers turned
up so if you want to do vigils, you
will be in charge of the publicity,
the theme and the service"
He said fine!
The next week he sent the pastor
the programme for the vigil
The pastor approved
The program was announced
The people turned up but while
service was going on, the pastor
changed his mind and decided to
preach and lead the ministrations
It was the same old common sense
talk
The next vigil, people didn't show up
It seemed the people wanted to
have a vigil but they don't want
their pastor to be the one leading
it
The pastor didn't see it that way
He called the young man and said
"Didn't i tell you? They don't turn up
for vigils and the church cannot
afford the cost of burning fuel for
a vigil that only five people will
attend
We have to shut it down"
Wow!
A few weeks later, he saw another
vision
He saw the church taking communion
He wrote to the pastor
"Dear sir, let us have a communion
service. I saw this by the spirit of God"
The Pastor said No
He went to the Holy Spirit in prayer
"Please i want to leave this church,
take me elsewhere"
The Holy Spirit was silent
The following Wednesday, the pastor
called him and said "You will be the
one to preach next Sunday"
Wow!
He got on the altar that Sunday and
the move of the Holy Spirit took
over
After service that Sunday the Pastor
addressed communion service for
the following midweek service
The following Tuesday, members rushed
to church
The communion service was done
Within a month, three of the waiting
mothers were pregnant
Those who have not seen their periods
for a long time saw it
Hormonal issues were addressed
and growths dissolved
Most of the members started coming
to him for spiritual guidance
It was the fulfillment of what he saw
in that vision
He grew with the church until the Holy
Spirit decided it was time for him to
move on to another assignment in the
body of Christ.

PS: While searching for fellowship
elsewhere, he didn't know he was
supposed to bring fellowship to others
around him
Many of us behave like this
We have God but we behave as if we
can lose Him if we dont find those who
have him like us
We forget that he lit us up so that we
can light up others
You are the solution to the problem
you are seeking a solution for
Just cleave to the Holy Spirit
The power of God is in His church
Not the building of bricks and mortar
only but most especially in you!
When we do as he instructs, we stir
the power of the Holy Spirit and produce
the supernatural through Him
A docile Christian will live in the flesh
and no one can do anything that
will please God in the flesh
The Holy Spirit quickens us and works
well with those who respond to his
quickening rather than those who
refuse to acknowledge Him through
unbelief or a wrong mindset.
Do you want to see the Holy Spirit
working constantly in your life,
give your life to Jesus, be filled with
the Holy Spirit and cleave to Him
Nothing else matters in this world
The Holy Spirit is your life!
