Impenitent

The pastor’s wife approached him one
Sunday afternoon and asked if she 
could get an opportunity to discuss 
something important with him. 
He was in a hurry that day because 
he had to attend to an urgent family 
matter but he promised the pastor’s 
wife that he would come and
see her later that evening. 
True to his word, he was in his pastor’s 
house by 7pm! 
The pastor welcomed him cheerfully and
 tacitly left the sitting room as soon his wife 
walked in. 
The pastor’S wife didn’t mince words, 
she said “Brother, have you noticed that I 
do not come to the church premises during 
service at all? 
Have you noticed that I was never on the 
church programme roster since my husband 
became the parish pastor? 
I always hide in the children's church
People have taken notice and it made it 
look like I do not want to support my 
husband in ministry. 
My husband has not said so but he 
mentions what other pastor's wives 
do to help pull the church together 
and provide leadership in my hearing 
often and i suspect he thinks i am laid 
back and unwilling to support him in 
ministry
This is not the case sir. 
I want to be a strong part of what my 
husband is doing but I cannot read 
and write. 
I cannot speak the English language and 
I do not have the ability to lead women
 in church especially in terms of public 
speaking. 
My husband has tried to teach me some 
of the little he also knows but I am not 
getting it. 
I dropped out of secondary school in 
Senior Secondary Class Two after 
repeating the class four times. 
I just couldn’t cope with the academic 
thing so I opted to learn how to sew 
and that is what I have been doing, 
I never knew a day will come when 
the thing I ran from would be sorely 
needed for us to move my husband’s 
ministry forward. 
He knew about the talks in church, 
the pastor’s wife was supposed to be 
defacto leader of all the women in the 
church 
The affairs of all the other women and 
children in the church are hers to tend to 
Even though the church had a women 
group and the group has an elected 
executive, the pastor’s wife was supposed 
to be the go-to person for the women in 
the church 
He knew what the pastor’s wife was 
tacitly asking of him 
He also saw passion and a strong 
determination to learn in the pastor’s wife
He promised the pastor’s wife to do 
whatever he can to help her 
The next day, he went in search of an 
adult education school 
When he found one, he made enquirers 
about home teaching 
He was told the price and he paid for 
six months
 He called his pastor’s wife and told her 
the good news 
The adult education teacher started
 teaching her that same week 
The teaching didn’t come cheap 
Six month’s later his pastor’s wife suddenly 
arrived at his flat one Sunday evening 
She said she came to see him for 
something important 
She said the teacher had come three 
times a week for six months and she had 
seen no improvement in her reading and 
spoken English 
She said she didn’t want him to pay for her 
anymore 
She said she had a dream;
In the dream, he was the one teaching her 
when something as bright as the sun 
came upon her head! 
She desired to learn but didn't know why
it was difficult for her to learn
She wanted him to teach her 4
He was working with a specialized printing 
company where cheques and other 
sensitive materials were printed 
He left home early and returned late 
every day 
Where would he get the time? 
He told the pastor’s wife these facts 
Pastor’s wife fell on her knees and 
started crying
Eventually, he told her he could do 
Saturday evening and Sunday evenings 
He also told her it would be only written 
and spoken English lessons
 He was no teacher but he went to 
school and felt he should be able to 
help the poor woman out 
Pastor’s wife was very happy, she prayed 
and pronounced blessings on him 
She started coming around by 6 pm the 
next Saturday 
She would bring cooked soup that could
 last him for a week and keep it in his 
deep freezer as a thank you gesture! 
He was a bachelor and wasn’t engaged 
to any lady due to his plan to travel 
abroad to further his studies! 
He got a study board and marker and 
started teaching her the English language 
from the scratch 
To his surprise, she wasn’t as “dumb” as 
she portrayed herself to be 
Their lesson usually lasted for three hours 
She would arrive just before 6pm and 
leave by 9pm
They had done four classes before 
he noticed that his heart was considering 
his pastor’s wife in an unusual way 
His thoughts towards her wasn’t sexual 
but it was alluring and very warm 
She did a lot of things that made him care 
and appreciate her that way 
After their classes she would go on her 
two knees to say thank you, she would 
sweep and tidy up his flat and she would 
talk to him about his life, his plans, 
his parents, his work 
She became the only other voice in 
his voice, they were age mates and she 
was quite beautiful in her own way! 
It got to a point that he dropped the 
extra key of his flat for her so that she 
could come to his flat at any time to 
practice her lessons 
She told him her three-year-old daughter 
was a handful and she needed a place 
where she could concentrate on her studies 
They kissed and started having sex when 
she came for her seventh class 
It happened naturally 
She was cooking, he walked into the kitchen 
looking for something to eat, she turned 
around to ask him what he wanted, 
he smiled and made to take a slice of fried 
meat, she slapped his hand affectionately, 
he laughed and then he kissed her! 
Their adulterous union lasted for three years 
In those three years, he rose to the post of 
Assistant parish pastor and they didn’t stop 
Then she suddenly fell ill 
It was a mysterious sickness that 
confounded the doctors 
Her abdomen was bloating up abnormally, 
she was in terrible pain 
She couldn’t sit or breathe without 
gnashing her teeth 
Hospitals rejected her after nine weeks 
and everybody gave up on her
 It was a matter of time before she died 
The handwriting was on the wall 
Somebody told the Brother in Jeans and
 T-shirt about the case
He had met the pastor and his wife briefly 
in 2009 when he was pastoring a church 
in Agiliti 
He called the pastor 
The pastor invited him over
 When he got to her bedside 
He saw an open vision; {A man was lying in 
a pool of blood after being crushed by a 
car} He heard the name “XYZ”!
He asked the pastor, Who is XYZ? 
The pastor pointed to his assistant pastor 
who was also in the room with them as 
they had gathered to pray 
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt said 
“How come she is dying and you are 
dying too?” 
Everybody was shocked 
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt asked 
everybody to leave the room 
When they were gone he asked the woman
 What is the tie between you and brother XYZ, 
if you keep quiet you will die and he will die 
too 
The pastor’s wife confessed then she said 
“I don't want him to die, I just want God to 
forgive me and I want to die”
"You want to die?!" Asked the Brother in Jeans
and T-shirt
She nodded and started confessing her 
sins to God as the brother in Jeans and T-shirt 
watched her 
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told her she
 had to tell her husband what happened so 
that she can be forgiven by her husband 
She said "No, I am not hurting him with this"
She shook her head and said, 
"tell XYZ I am sorry"
She held the hand of the brother in 
Jeans and T-shirt and screamed 
Her husband and the others rushed in 
She looked at her husband and said 
“Take care of my daughter, tell her I
 love her” 
That was it 
She was gone 
Everybody cried bitterly 
Brother XYZ too 
Her death was a rude shock
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt waited 
for a week 
He called Brother XYZ and explained 
the vision he saw that day 
He also told him about the pastor’s wife's 
confession 
Brother XYZ denied everything! 
He said it was a plot to spoil his good 
name and if he did anything wrong it was 
between him and God. 
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt apologized 
for meddling, he sent brother XYZ an SMS 
begging him to swallow his pride and make 
amends with both God and the Pastor 
The avenger of blood was not one to 
joke around with 
The SMS was ignored! 
One month after the Pastor’s wife was buried, 
brother XYZ died in a ghastly motor accident 
on his way to the office 
It was reported that his car had a flat tire, 
He alighted from his car to change the tyre 
A truck driver lost control of his truck and 
the truck smashed into brother XYZ 

PS: The pastor and his daughter still lives
in Lagos Nigeria
He remarried two years after his wife died
His new wife gave birth to a baby boy
a year later
Believers have no excuse to live in sin
Sin had dire consequences
He that is joined to the Lord should depart
from Iniquity

GSW's Notes: Good evening Sir, 
Please in the story for today, why was restitution 
important ? Why couldn't the Young pastor just 
confess to God and that's all? 
Was it an instruction from the Holy Spirit for him 
to restitute not only to God but to the pastor?
 Since they were both afraid of what the 
shame will bring
GSWMI: They didn't turn or repent by themselves
GSWMI: That was the difference
GSWMI: Judgement had come
GSWMI: When a believer does something wrong, 
he or she turns around and repents immediately
We do not continue in sin
When we make a mistake, we feel the 
weight of such on our conscience and we 
adjust our course immediately
But if he or she continues in a sinful lifestyle
 until judgment comes...
