The journey to the village took five hours from the city

The village was located in the south-western part of the country

One of their colleagues was getting married

He was a very popular guy

Some members of staff bought the party uniform for the occasion

Others joined the bus

They traveled in a convoy

Some drove their personal cars

They were going to make the day memorable for their friend and colleague

The pastors arrived right on time

The groom arrived right on time

The bride took her time but she eventually showed up

The wedding ceremony began

The choir sang

One pastor preached, another one did the joining

The necessary questions were asked

It was seamless

The pastor announced that the couple were going to sign the marriage register in the vestry

The choir started singing

The church members stood up to dance

The pastors led the way, followed by the couple and parents of both couple

It was their day of joy, they danced gleefully

They got into the vestry

The husband sat down

The wife sat down

A bird perched on the electric pole outside the vestry

The music in the church was filtering into the vestry

The husband was nodding his head

The wife was shaking her body

The bird chirped

Chawww! Chawww!! Chaww!!!

The husband held his head

Something was happening

Something strange

Husband fell off his chair, and died

What!

At 32, inside the vestry, in the church of God!

He must have fainted, perhaps it was the suit

Perhaps the tie was too tight

The church had a hospital, it was located a few meters from the church

One of the elders discretely went to the hospital to call a doctor

The doctor came in through the back door

He checked the pulse, he checked the eyes, he checked for sinus rhythm

There was no pulse, the eyes were fixed and there was no sinus rhythm

The doctor looked at the pastor and shook his head

The wife panicked

Pastor: Shhh!

The husband’s mother wanted to scream

Pastor: Shhh!

The congregation inside the church wondered why the signing of the register was taking so long

The choir continued to sing

People continued to dance

Husband’s mother: They told us not to come to this village to do the wedding

They warned us severely but my husband and his son would not listen

See what has happened now

Pastor and other ministers joined hands together to pray

They called on God

Father, wake him up

Jesus, give us a miracle

Holy Spirit, don’t put us to shame

They prayed and prayed

10 minutes, thirty minutes, one hour

One of the pastors said “I think the deed is done”

The other pastors agreed

The wife suddenly remembered something

“Please sir, go to the congregation and announce that brother so and so should come here”

Who is this brother? Asked the pastors

Why do you want him to come here? Asked the relatives

She: Please; just announce his name and ask him to come here!

One of the pastors went into the church

The choir took a breather

Word of an emergency in the vestry had started spreading

When the people saw only one pastor emerging, they kept quiet and listened to him with dread

He thanked the choir and the congregation for their patience

He told the congregation there were some complications being sorted out in the vestry

They should please be patient

Then he made the announcement

“Is there a brother So and So in the congregation? He is one of the team that traveled from Lagos to this village to celebrate with the couple, please you are needed at the vestry immediately”

The brother immediately walked towards the altar

The pastor led him into the vestry

Once in, the bride said “This is my life, please help me sir”

The brother in Jeans and T-shirt looked at the groom lying lifeless on the floor

What happened to him?

“A bird cried strangely three times, he held his head and fell off the chair! replied the pastor

He died immediately

The brother in Jeans and T-Shirt asked for anointing oil

He gave it to the wife

Massage his hands and feet, rub them until they are warm

The wife did so

The brother in Jeans and T-shirt started praying in tongues

Something was off, he couldn’t place it but….

He looked out of the window, he saw the bird

“I was carried here upon the wings of an eagle” he said *Exodus 19:4

He began to sing in tongues

Everybody watched him

The pastors, the parents, the witnesses! Everybody

He began to sway

He lifted up his hands

The bride continued to rub the hands of her husband with anointing oil

Suddenly the bride screamed

“His fingers are twitching”

“Please so and so help me massage his legs!” the bride asked the chief bridesmaid

The brother in Jeans and T-Shirt continued to sing in tongues

After about fifteen minutes, the brother in Jeans and T-shirt felt a strong current in his left hand

He went to the husband’s body, motioned for the two ladies to give him some room and laid his left hand on the brother’s chest while he laid his right hand on the brother’s head

He said “Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh”

I command you to come back to life now! Breathe!

The husband suddenly sucked in some air, coughed and jumped up as if he was hit by a bolt of lightening

He ran for the door

The pastors grabbed him!

They calmed him down

What happened?

He said he just found himself inside a small place

It was very uncomfortable there

Very constrained, he couldn’t move any part of his body

He didn’t know how he got there but the place was full of dread

And suddenly the place started expanding and he could move his fingers

Then he could move his feet and he suddenly jumped out of the place and started running

He didn’t know when he ran into his own body and continued to run

The brother in jeans and T-Shirt looked at him

“Are you born again sir?” he asked the husband, because if you are not this will most likely happen again

Husband: I want to become born again now

The brother in Jeans and T-shirt led him to Christ

Then the brother in Jeans and T-shirt suddenly turned to the bride

I rebuke you spirit of vengeance! Get out of her!

The bride screamed and fell on her knees

The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt held her head with both hands and blew into her face

The poison in her throat dissolved

She vomited everywhere

After they had tidied the vestry the brother in Jeans and T-shirt asked the bride

Would you like to become Born Again now

She said Yes

He led her to Christ

They signed the marriage register

One hour thirty minutes after they danced into the vestry

The couple danced out

The church screamed with joy when they saw them

The rumor of the miracle had also spread

The pastors shared the testimony cryptically

They proceeded to the reception

When they got to the reception, a lady came to meet the brother in Jeans and T-Shirt

Lady: Please can I see you outside sir?

The brother in Jeans and T-Shirt followed her outside the reception hall

Lady: That man did not deserve to be alive!

Brother in Jeans and T-shirt: Why?

Lady: When he came to observe his NYSC in this village eight years ago, he impregnated my elder sister and forced her to commit abortion. My sister died! Did you hear me? My sister died! He killed my sister!!!

He ran away to Lagos at that time

His wife was one of my fellow initiates

We swore that we would revenge and for that purpose we sent her into his life

His punishment was to live the rest of his life inside that bird

And you called him out and set him free!

And not only that, you also took our sister away from us!

Brother in Jeans and T-shirt: All I can do is offer you justice through the right way

Lady: How?

Brother in Jeans and T-Shirt: The world sinned against God, God wanted justice and Jesus became justice! The wrath of God was satisfied in Jesus! If you will accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior today, you would have the justice you crave with all the benefits of Heaven!

The lady hissed and walked away
