Misguided

She was born into another religion
Her parents were fanatics
She was raised to see Christians as
infidels 
But she had always had a very
inquisitive mind
Her mother knew this and was 
determined to keep her on the
straight and narrow
She was closely monitored from
her childhood
Her mother especially made sure
all the children were heavily 
indoctrinated
When she gained admission into
the university
Her mother would lay a curse upon
any of her children who changed
religion or brought up a spouse from
another religion
It was all a psychological rouse to
keep all her children in check
Somehow one day when she was in
200 Level
She followed a friend to a crusade
ground just to see what went on there
The sermon had not even started
The choir was singing
They were singing a South African song
She didnt know the language or the
meaning
But something happened
A sudden surge of overwhelming emotion
came upon her 
She couldn't describe it
It was as if her insides were melting
Tears poured ceaselessly from her face
What was happening to her
She started walking towards the altar
Nobody stopped her
The ushers just watched her
She was drenched in tears
She was howling as she went
She was a virgin
She had lived her life religiously
She would naturally be considered
by any standard as Holy and upright
She had shunned the negative influence
of the west with determination
Her head was always covered
Her words were always measured
She prayed five times a day
She observed her annual fast diligently
She took it upon herself to know
and to observe the tenets of her
religion
She didn't know what came over her
She got to the altar and cried
She just wept
The whole world was blanked out
It was just her and that altar
She didn't see any angel
She didn't have any surreal experience
She didn't know how long she
spent there
What she saw was this
When she got up from her knees
There was a crowd around her
On her right and left
All wailing and crying
All giving their lives to Jesus
Ushers came around and took their
names
Counselors helped them make sense
of it
Told them they had been stirred to
salvation by the Holy Spirit 
They gave their lives to Christ
Eighty-three of them!
Wow!
Her friend, the one that invited her for
the crusade saw everything
When they were going home
They both walked on in silence 
She didn't know how to proceed
with her life
She had peace in her heart
Her friend was also lost in thought
She didn't know what to say to
someone who just got converted
in the most extraordinary manner!
When she got back to the hostel
It was time for her last prayer of the 
day 
She took her kettle for cleansing
She got on the prayer mat
She got into her prayer posture
It was a lifetime habit she had gotten
accustomed to
She started praying in tongues
It was the most hilarious thing ever
She prayed and rolled on the mat
She couldn't stop
There was a welling, a bursting forth
There was a surge of wonder coursing 
through her body
She laughed and screamed and cried
Apparently, the Holy Spirit decided
to announce to the female hostel that
she had become born again!
He did a wonderful job
Within the hour everybody knew
The funniest thing was this
Those who came around her to
"help" or "assist" as she was lost
in the spirit all fell down (slain) in
the Holy Ghost or started laughing
like jackals just as she was doing!
The whole drama lasted from around 
8pm till 11pm
When she was finally able to control
herself
She went for a long shower
She cried for a long time in the bathroom
then she returned to her room and slept
like a baby
The next morning, her friend
(The one that invited her to the 
crusade came to her room followed
by her elder brother)
The elder brother was a believer
A trained "discipler"
He told her what had happened and
promised to help her figure out many
things that were confusing to her
He helped her settle into the Christian
life
He told her what the church really
represented
he told her about the doctrine of Baptism
She had received the baptism of the 
Holy Spirit but still needed the water
baptism
He helped her settle in a fellowship on
campus and made sure she was 
surrounded by many believers!
She grew fast!
The same zeal with which she did
her memorization of the book of her
previous religion was the same
zeal she used to study the Bible
She read the book of John over and over
She was consistent and dedicated
By the end of that semester
She was not only born again
She was making converts and filling
new converts with the Holy Ghost
When she got home at the end
of the semester
She realized she had been living 
in a  bubble
Luckily she was already in 400 level
and her mother thought it was
because she was beginning to 
desire to get married that she
changed her mode of dressing!
Her mother came to her the day
she got home and said "I noticed
the changes, you are no longer
covering your hair and dressing
religiously!
Your father is worried that you
might be thinking we want to 
choose a husband for you!
And using your new mode of dressing
as a form of protest
We will do whatever you desire
You have been a good child!
God will settle you in a good home"
She wanted to tell her mother
the truth but she couldn't find
the words
The next day, her friend's brother
came to check her at home
He didn't tell her he was coming
He wore a native attire complete
with a cap
He prostrated and was so sweet
That was the moment she fell in
love with him
She didn't really know it was love
She just knew how she saw him
when he was greeting and interacting
with her parents changed!
Her mother assumed immediately
that she was dating him
He was the first man ever to come
to the house to ask boldly that he
wanted to see her from "school"
Her parents served him questions
after questions
He answered like Roger Federer
Picking all the services and rallying
with them comfortably
He was not allowed to be alone with
her
She was busy in the kitchen and 
in her room, until they were done
with him
He spent three hours
She emerged from the room to see 
him off when he was leaving
Her heart which was in her throat
when he arrived at her house was
willingly in her hands by the time he
was leaving
She thanked him for coming
He had made her so happy
He told her he had to come
he had to make her see that he was
willing to be her friend all the way
That was when she gave him her heart
He didn't need to ask
He had gone above and beyond in
her estimation
He saw that her mannerism towards
him changed
He was very sensitive by nature
He asked her what happened
She told him he was the first guy to 
come to her house and her parents
now have the impression that there is
something between them
He said "There is something between us,
I love you and I want to marry you"
That was the happiest day of her life!
She really loved him!
She told her mother boldly when
she got home that he was asking 
to marry her
Her mother said He was a good man
She had picked right
She was delighted
His visit also had a strong
spiritual effect on her family
Within a month, her mother, her
father and two other siblings were
going to church with her
She didn't know how it happened
Her younger sister came to her room
to tell her she had become a Christian
on-campus and they shared their
experiences
Her younger brother was in the UK at
the time trying to process his admission
Later that evening, their father was
ill and they both went into his room
to pray for him
He was healed and he gave his life to
Jesus
Their mother was supposed to be
the difficult one
When they told her what had happened,
she laughed and didn't say a word
The following Sunday, her mother was the first
person to get ready for church!
She graduated and they got married
He was working as a computer engineer
with a private firm
She was a banker
She expected that they would have 
the best life as a couple
They didn't!
He was an economic disaster
He couldn't hold down a job or make good
decisions when it comes to money
It was as if he had programmed himself not
to have enough simply because he was
a believer
He resigned his job immediately
he was promoted because it will take
his time and keep him away from 
preaching the gospel!
SHe got him a loan to start his own
business
He proved to be a poor manager of
resources
Treating his staff members like charity
cases and paying them even when they
had done nothing
He was gullible and foolish in his dealings
with people especially in business
He was excellent when it came to
ministry and keeping relationships
But he lacked the ability to provide
for her and her children
Within three years of their marriage
things got so bad that she had to
relocate to her parents' three bedroom
apartment!
She started living in her old room
with her three children!
Her husband had to find a friend to
live with 
This was because they couldn't  pay 
their rent!
It was a problem she didn't forsee
He was so good at managing people
and loving her and grooming new
believers
And yet he was a failure in life!
Her marriage was practically over!
And she had no desire to be divorced
or for her home to be broken
It was all his fault!
The loan she took for him to start
a business was still being paid and 
he had flushed the investment down
the drain within six months
It was not only frustrating, it was
embarrassing!
She called the Brother in jeans and 
T-shirt
She told him everything 
She was unhappy and so was he
He complicated everything by having
this air of being persecuted unduly
He would say "It is just money, mammon!
He would say "This is God's will, let's endure
it!"
She didn't understand him at all!
They booked an appointment
The Brother in jeans and t-shirt met
with him and they got talking
She expected the brother in Jeans and 
T-shirt to scold her husband
Tell him he was worse than an infidel
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt didn't
He asked her husband if they could
pray together
her husband said yes
They held hands  and prayed in the 
spirit
The Brother in jeans and T-shirt said 
"Within six months, you must get a proper
house and settle in with your family!
You must also open a second outlet for
your failing business
You are a success in business
You are my brother
All my brothers are full of the Holy Spirit
and are being taught the ability to make
wealth!"
They prayed again
The Brother in Jeans and blessed them
and told her not to worry
She took his actions in good faith!
Her husband changed
One of her husband's friends imported
phone accessories and needed an outlet
Her husband offered his office space
They started selling the imported items
Her husband was more careful of his
reputation this time
He didn't want the friend's testimony of
his conduct to be scandalous
He faced the business diligently and 
made a lot of profit
The friend was so impressed that
he signed a partnership agreement
with her husband
The friedn lived in Belgium and 
sent home the accessories
her husband sold them and made
huge sums of money
They cleared their debts within 
three months
By the fourth month their family
was together again
She used to be reluctant to sleep
with him before because it felt as
if she was taking risks she would have
to bear alone
But she willingly returned to their 
bed this time around
Her husband was worth the risk!
Her husband was also consciously
saving and investing in the children's
future
All within six months!

Her call set me thinking about many
others who I know
Citizens of Zion who still lived a life
that is so different from what ought
to be!
Please meditate on the realities of the
Gospel!
Take time to see what the offered
Check out if it is real to you
If it is, you are walking in the light
If it is not, you have a right to change
it!
I can point to many transformed lives
around me because we meditate on
the realities of Zion together!
Choose not to be hungry in the Kitchen!
You have a right to the best of everything!
It is your choice to suffer or to prosper!

The Glory within us will be revealed
The wise will hear this and get set
The unwise will sit still and sleep off
The lines have fallen unto me in pleasant
places, i have a goodly heritage!
