The Dream

She rushed into the elevator

Her appointment was for 11am

This is 10:58

She punched 11th floor

The elevator’s door closed

It took off

It stopped at 4th floor

He entered, everything changed

She had seen him before

4 years ago

He came to her school

What was his name?

Her friend told her then her dream

Said she saw her in his home

As a wife dong the wifely chores

She rejected it

How could she be married to this married man?

No way!

He alighted at the 11th floor

She was right behind him

He walked into the office

She stopped at the reception

2 hours later

She was ushered into the conference room

He was right there amongst the panel

She sat

The interview commenced

She did her best

Afterwards she was asked to sit at the reception

5 hours later, it began to rain

The receptionist told her to come back on Monday

She: (Thinking) What! After waiting this long?

she took the elevator downstairs

walked to the entrance

A car parked right in front of her

The windows rolled down

HE WAS IN THE CAR

He: Sorry about the delay, can i drop you somewhere?

She: I am going to the mainland

He: If you don’t mind i can drop you at Maryland

They talked

She was cagey, as if she was still being interviewed!

It started raining mangoes

He: Can i drop you at home?

She couldn’t say no

As the journey progressed she relaxed

They talked

He mentioned his three children and how much he was in a hurry to get home

He dropped her at home

She became restless, totally out of control

She called her friend, the one that had the dream

Told her the whole story

Her friend: His wife died two years ago, his children are on break from the boarding house!

What!

She slept!

Her phone rang

She picked

It was him!

He was at the gate of her parents house

A dream

On Saturday!

She slept some more, had her bath, dressed up

Called him!

She: Hi, I was dreaming you called me earlier sir

He: It wasn’t a dream, I am still in the car, waiting at your gate, your highness

She ran downstairs

Composed herself, opened the gate and there he was!

Standing right beside his car

Something she couldn’t explain happened

She saw him,

She ran,

Leapt straight into his waiting arms

He kissed her, it was sheer bliss

They got married a year later

Her friend was the chief bridesmaid

She told the crowd her dream and this reality
