The Phone call

His elder sister was the one that gave him the handset
He was going off to school and the family needed to keep in touch with him
Brand new phones were very expensive at the time
His elder sister said she saw a heap of used phones on a 
wheelbarrow being peddled by a hustler on the street
The phones were like walkie-talkies but they came at a very ridiculous price
Her elder sister bought three
She had planned to start a phone call centre sometime down the road
It was too much of an opportunity to walk away from
All she needed for the business was a small kiosk and two phones
She will get a sales person to man the kiosk
She would load the phones with credit and the sales person will attend to customers
She had been told she could make as much #2000 profit daily
She would pay the sales person #10,000 -#20,000 per month and pocket a tidy profit
When she got home she showed the phones to her younger brother
He laughed!
The phones were so big! He nicknamed them "Grasscutters"
His sister convinced him to take one of the phones to school
"Keep it in your locker and use it only in your room, 
that way your classmates wouldn't laugh at you and we will
still be able to keep in touch with you!" His sister said
He wanted the popular Nokia 3310 or Samsung
All the young men on campus have a phone
It was easier to connect and socialize when you have a phone
Especially if you meet a beautiful girl and you want to talk to her or see her again
Her phone number grants you access to a possibility of another meeting
But how would he bring out the hammer of a phone his sister bought in public
It would scare away any lady who sees it with him
They debated it back and forth
He had his school fees and enough left for his feeding and class projects
There wasn't enough for any luxury
He could either somehow manage of the big "Grasscutters" or do without a phone
He reconsidered, he needed a phone for his academics too
Sometimes lecturers would schedule impromptu classes and tests
Those in class or the class representative would send a text to fellow students
Those without a phone usually miss out of such impromptu stuff
Sometimes they would have tutorials or a group project
He needed a phone desperately!
When he got to school, he realised it really didn't matter
Nobody cared the type pf phone he was using
He was neither elevated nor denigrated because of it
His standing in school both socially and academically was fine
Before long, his phone number spread like wildfire
He was an exceptional student academically and many students desired to be his friend
One evening he was by himself, reading in a classroom when the phone rang!
He picked the call!
He heard a voice saying 
"What I tell you to do, you must do
What I tell you to take, you must take
As a goat goes blind in a cave
As a sheep goes blind in a dark place
Lose your understanding now
Lose your consciousness now
Lose your ability to reason now
Lose your senses now
The hair at the back of his neck stood at attention
Goose pimples took over his body
He started shivering from within
The voice talked on and on
He could barely understood what the voice was saying
It was as if he was reduced to a whisper within his own body
He had been completely hypnotized!
When it was 10pm, the security guards went to the classroom
They saw him seated there in a comatose state 
Staring at blank spaces and looking numb
They tried to get him into his senses and failed
They eventually carried him off to the clinic and called the attention 
of the school authority to his case
The school authority tried the best they could to help him
He remained comatose, blinking frequently like a broken glass wiper
They called his sister
When his sister got to the clinic
All hell broke loose 
"What sort of Christian University is this?
In the whole of this school, there was no one with discernment?
A sudden strange ailment came upon my brother
And with all the spirituality of a Thomas
You came to tie my brother in a clinic
And then you called me to come and carry my meat?
What of he is your son? What is he is your own brother?
I am disappointed in all of you
She screamed at the Dean of Students Affairs!
She picked her phone and called the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
"Sir, the devil has poured sand into my beverage
my younger brother has been attacked by a strange power
Nobody knows what he saw or how
They said he was reading in a class and lost his senses right there"
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told her to 
put the phone to her brother's ear
The word of God is quick and powerful
It is so surgically accurate and precise
that it divides the soul from the spirit
It also divides the joints and marrow, 
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt just prayed in tongues!
There are tongues and there are tongues
There are tongues of men, and there are tongues of angels
There are tongues from the head and there are tongues from the belly
There are tongues of worship and there are tongues of fire
Some believers speak in tongues only to build their inner man
While some believers speak in tongues to catalyze and instruct the wind
The phone's speakerphone was turned on
Soon the sister started praying in tongues
The Dean of student affairs started praying in tongues
The students representatives in the hall started speaking in tongues
Suddenly the afflicted young man started praying in tongues
The school was not even owned by a "tongues" believing denomination
That afternoon, thirteen people got filled with the Holy Spirit
including the afflicted young man
Later in day, the young man told everybody his story
His sister related the story to the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told her to send him the phone number 
from which the demonic affliction was invoked
"Pastor, what do you want that evil number for?" She asked
"A good shepherd kills the lion and the bear that attacks its flock,
the Holy Spirit is not only our weapon of defense, it is also our
weapon of attack!" The Brother in Jeans and T-Shirt replied
Later that evening, the brother in Jeans and T-shirt called the number,
It belonged to an Herbalist
The Herbalist announced himself with pride
"Hello, Aladeanu Omoifa Awise on the line" said the voice
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt "My name is So and So, I am a servant of
the most High God! 
You called one of my children with this number three days ago,
you commanded him to lose his senses, I am hereby commanding you to lose your senses
until you come to see me and repent for your evil action!"
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt cut the call immediately afterwards
The herbalist called back several times 
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt didn't pick his call
As far as the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt was concerned
Where the word of a King is, there is power!
He didn't need to look back and ask if his decree came to pass
It must!
Two weeks later, they brought the herbalist to him
Just like the young man he afflicted, he had lost his senses
His eyes were sunken in and he screamed intermittently like a wild pig
His wife fell on her knees
"Have mercy on me sir, have mercy on me
we have carried him everywhere, we have tried everything
please we have little children at home
He meant no harm by using that charm on that young man
Someone from that school gave him the job and the phone number
He was just looking for what to eat like every other person
Please have mercy on us in Jesus name
We didn't know that boy was your child sir
We know it is a taboo to touch the child of an initiate
We are sorry, please accept our plea in Jesus name 
Help us set him free, please sir, please sir!"
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt laid hands on him
"In Jesus name, i command sanity to return to you"
He prayed in tongues for a while and called the man's name
"So and so", "So and so", "So and so"
The man responded "Sir"
And his senses came back to him!
His wife rolled on the floor, crying for joy
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt asked them
Would you like to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour now
The herbalist said yes!
His wife said yes!
He led the two of them to Christ and filled them with the Holy Spirit

PS: The man and his wife are missionaries in Oluponna community of Osun State
The young man had since graduated and now pastors a youth church
His elder sister has also married and is a Deaconess in a pentecostal church
I wonder why a believer will have the option of being filled 
with the Holy Spirit and refuse to take it
No matter how much some Reverends and Pastors condemn praying in tongues
No matter how much they interpret the scriptures to say it meant something else
Dearest believer, You are defenseless without it! You are vulnerable without it
For those of us who pray in tongues and say only one syllable over and over
It is time to navigate bigger channels! It is time to grow!
For those who pray in tongues and couldn't see any power being generated
Be intentional about it!
Get a prayer partner, start by speaking in tongues for one hour together everyday
Don't suffer like those without a God
God has called you "god"
Become what He called You! In it lies your destiny fulfilment
