The Reflection

Everybody has a past
It is past!
So we keep it where it belonged
In the past!
If we cannot go forward in time
We shouldn't be so eager to go backward in time
Yesterday must truly be gone for there to be a today
Nature understood it
Clear a land space of trees and shrubs and it would immediately begin to recover
You may not see the effect immediately but surely it began as soon as you were done deforesting it
Man refused to get it
Yesterday's shadow is always so long
It would creep into today and sully all its goodness
Perhaps memory is the worst enemy of man
The good ones could keep you in a bad situation while you hope things would change
The bad ones could push you into hasty decisions
Many a man is a prisoner of his or her own memory
He says he would never forget
She swore she would always remember
A dead fly in the oil of the apothecary
The lot stinks!
A good person who suffered a wrong becomes its victim
A bad person who met with love becomes its captive
A good man ends up in dire straights
A bad man got the better end
And life's unfairness marries injustice
Her first abortion made the national news
The quack doctor that did it was arrested while working on her
Her face was shown on the national television
She was supposed to be in school at the time
Her Father didn't bother with a trial
He disowned her
Her elder sister was studying sociology at the time
They were both in the same university
Her elder sister and her mother decided she cannot be thrown to the dogs

Her uncle used a condom, she shouldn't be pregnant

She discovered she was pregnant ten weeks later
And that was that!
This time she was determined to do better
While many guys on campus tacitly dodge her in public but tried to sleep with her in secret because of the scandal?
Her guy got admitted through the direct entry and came gunning for her
He was from a rich home and she joyfully moved in with him
She was tired of sneaking in and out of her sister's room because of her father's verdict!
They became like an official couple on campus
They truly loved each other
It lasted for two years
His Father became a diplomat and he moved his entire family to his station with him
She knew it was goodbye the day he left
Despite his I don't care attitude, she knew he was reluctant to take her home
He was afraid someone would tell his parents about her
She knew their relationship would end in the university
It just ended earlier than she anticipated
He left her the room, fully paid for till she graduated
He left her some money to pay her fees and take care of her needs
She also had six abortions for him
He wouldn't use condom and she was determined not to lose him by insisting!
By the time she graduated, her reputation was dead!
Lecturers and fellow students see her as the slut of the school
She needed stuffs and guys wouldn't give them to her for free
Once she graduated, she decided she needed to turn a new leaf
Her bad girl reputation in the university was a freak of nature
occasioned by the raid on the abortion clinic that destroyed her reputation
She had a chance to start afresh, settle into her real self
She got a job with a real estate company as a marketer
She faced the job squarely!
Once in a while she sleeps with a client to land a juicy commission
It was her choice to do so, it was also her commission to spend
She tried as much as possible to keep her business and her sharp practices to herself
During her second year at the real estate firm
Her elder sister got married!
Her sister was skeptical of their Father's reaction if she attended
Her mother too
But she stormed the party like a princess
Her father welcomed her with open arms! It was as if he was expecting her
After the party, he gave her a cheque
All the school fees he didn't pay and her allowances
He had kept everything, praying she would come to know Christ and repent
Since she didn't bother to come come, he had been praying for her
And he had promised himself that he would make amends and make peace with her whenever they met
She was shocked!
The cheque was for almost 500,000!
He insisted that she collect and cash it as a sign that she had also forgiven him for being so stubborn
That night, she decided she would go to a church and throw the cheque in the offering basket
Her father doesn't get to right all wrongs by dropping money
He was equally to blame for her poor decisions
Why couldn't he forgive her and let it go at that time?
The next morning she went to a nearby church
And something happened during the service
She couldn't quite tell what
She just found herself broken in all the wrong places
She cried her eyes out
Long after the service had finished, she was still crying for forgiveness!
That was the day she became born again
It was as if she was turned inside out and purged!
It was so dramatic that whenever she thought of her past decisions and actions
She felt a physical hurt in her heart
She joined the church
Within a year, she had been baptised and she had read her Bible from Genesis to Revelation twice!
She also grew in the things of the spirit!
She had cultivated a very wonderful relationship with the Holy Spirit
She thrived as a believer, she won souls with joy
The gospel was not heavy on her lips
Her reputation everywhere was the reputation of Christ in her
One of her clients came to know the Lord through her
He married her a year later
She took to married life with all joy
She had come to expect nothing but to give everything (Her own words)
She would often say "My marriage was a compensation, a chance for me to be a blessing to my husband"'
She got pregnant the very month she got married
Nine months later, she delivered a baby girl!
Her sister couldn't believe God could be so partial!
She got married as a Virgin, lived a pristine life and was still waiting on the Lord for the fruit of the womb
And her sister, the slut of the family, was already a mother!
Her sister spoke with a pastor
Why was it that God does not reward good behaviour?
The pastor said "My Sister, God's heart is like a mirror
What you see is what you get!
Look into that mirror right now and tell me what you see?"
She took a look but she couldn't open her mouth to speak!

PS: The sister turned away from bitterness and embraced His love
She delivered her own child, a baby girl, fourteen months later
Both families are happy and blessed
