What You Believe Matters
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16).
Many people don’t know it, but a Christian can actually open himself or herself to a devil. There are many ways this can happen. One of such avenues is through a Christian believing a lie. When you believe truth, God’s Spirit enters into you. In the same way, Satan enters into a man and begins to manipulate his life when he believes Satan’s lies. This is why you should never accept Satan’s opinion about anything; judge everything you hear by the Word.
Also, demons can come into someone’s life through fear, because like begets like; you attract to you what’s in, and around, you. If you have faith, you attract the spirit of faith. If you have fear, you also attract the spirit of fear. Fear brings demons into someone’s life. Fear is actually faith in the ability of Satan; it’s faith in the ability of all the negatives to defeat you. That’s why you should never allow fear in your heart, same way you shouldn’t allow unbelief, bitterness, and anger. These are all tools of the adversary which can open a door for Satan to plunder people’s lives.
What if a Christian already allowed devils into his or her life unknowingly through any of the afore-mentioned avenues?
There’s a way out. That’s where the power of God’s Word comes to play. If that individual would study and meditate on the Word of God, he wouldn’t even require to be prayed for. The same way those devils came in, they’ll also leave without announcement. That’s the power of God’s Word. God’s Word is light, and when light comes, darkness will, and must, flee.
It’s the same cure for fear. As you receive God’s Word, faith comes to you, dispelling fear. And as fear leaves, so does the spirit of fear. God’s Word is the answer. It’s what you need for the glorious, excellent, and victorious life. The Word is the most important thing in your life.
Did you know that today, in the New Testament, it’s no longer a question of what God can do but what YOU can do? He made the change in Christ and gave us the dominion, the authority and the power to change anything. So it’s up to you today to make your life as glorious as you want it to be; the key is acting on the Word—applying the Word of God.
Many have remained in distressing conditions because they’re “waiting” for God to come into their situation and change things. Even if you shout or sing from sun up to sun down that God will make a way where there is no way, this won’t change your situation. That’s because He already made a way almost two thousand years ago and made you “the way” when you were born again.
You’re “the saved”; you need to get the real picture. He calls us “saviours” (Obadiah 1:21); He saved you and made you a saviour. Many of God’s children need to become more acquainted with this truth. They’re inspired and excited to know what God can do, but they need to be more acquainted with what God says they can do.
The ball is in your court. You’re the one to do something about your situation. How? By learning the Word of God and applying it to the situation you’re facing. When you study the life of the Master, His words, His prayer life, and the instructions He gave, He never suggested for one moment that we should whine, beg or cry to God for anything
Rather, He put the keys in our hands. He told us to speak to the mountain; in other words, solve the problem; use your mouth; speak faith-filled words. Mark 11:23, “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified (Acts 20:32).
God’s Word requires your response. Some Christians haven’t realized this; they don’t know what the Word is for. Imagine that when the elders of the church at Ephesus got the message in our opening verse from the Apostle Paul, they went home saying, “O, I love what he said.” That wouldn’t have changed their lives or their situation.
Someone could tell you he has a gift for you and you’d be happy at the gesture. Though you haven’t received the gift, you may probably say to the person, “I’m so happy about what you’ve said; it’s a blessing to me.” You were blessed just because of what the person said; that’s because we can be blessed by words. The Word of God, certainly, will bless you, but it doesn’t mean you’ll walk in the light of the blessing it conveys. You’d have to respond by affirming the same thing in consent: “He hath said…so that we might boldly say…” (Hebrews 13:5-6).
The purpose of commending you to the Word is for the Word to build you up; the Word has the ability to do it. Now, your response should be, “The Word is building me up. Every time I hear and study the Scriptures, I’m transformed, elevated, energized, and my faith is built strong.” The moment this becomes a reality in your spirit, all you see will be strength, victory, progress, and endless possibilities. You’ll discover that you’re getting stronger and wiser by the day through the Word.
He gave us His Word so we can see, apprehend, and affirm all that freely belongs to us in Christ Jesus.
