A son of encouragement
A married woman started paying undue attention to me some months back.
She is a bank manager. I would
usually shut down such unwholesome attention but having her as an asset is important. It took me months after opening an account with the bank and being friendly with the staff members to
establish a good level of rapport with
the bank. I didn't even desire to
know their bank manager.
One day I went to the bank to
do a transaction and she was the
one that resolved the problem.
I said thank you.
She requested for my phone number.
I gave it to her.
And that was how she wanted to turn handshake to body shake. I started avoiding the bank and her messages.
I moved my attention to another bank.
She noticed that I was ignoring her
and began to send all sorts of messages.
I eventually archived her chats and
didn't bother reading her messages.
When I had to do a transaction
with her bank, I go to another
branch even though her branch
was close to my house and that
made life easier for me.
One day, @dafidimimo and I were
talking and I told him about the
stuff this woman was doing to me
and how It had affected my business
transactions. My brother went to the
bank the next day and had a
meeting with this woman.
He didn't inform me before
doing so. I didn't ask him to do so.
He didn't tell me what he said to the woman. He didn't tell me he
had dealt with the issue
I just noticed that the lady sent me
A message "Sup"
I ignored it as usual.
Then she said "If you wouldn't
dance to my tune, there is a way
to do it without making me feel rejected.
You really need to work on your people skills. All you did was run away
like a scared little boy and that
irritated me. I don't like men who
behave like little children.
And then you sent your brother
to me and I was like "Really?"
What is the fun of having a relationship when it is not secret? I told you
I am married and I know you're
married too. I have lost interest in you.
You can come back to the branch and do your business. I knew you ran away because of me.
Bye"
Wow!
I quickly tested out the validity of her message. I went to the bank and conducted many transactions. She was totally professional about it and we
both acted as if there was no tension between us some weeks before.
To have a brother Like David
is everything. He is my immediate
younger brother. He led me to
the Lord in 2017. He is the
Head of our evangelism and foundation class in the ministry. He is a fixer
who handles my headaches by the
power of the Holy Spirit.
When I have land grabbing issues with touts and all, he handles it.
When we have projects at any location,
he handles them. If I dress and don't look fine, he will drive to a boutique,
buy clothes and say "Wear this one"
When I am sneezing and needed
to drink hot tea. He will call the Hotel management and make sure I get tea!
Then he bought tea and a hot flask
for me to put in my travel bags
for my journeys.
When I needed a wife in 2009 and
I was unwilling to woo any babe
because I had been shown pepper
by the ladies, I dated in the past.
He found a fine girl and introduced
me to her.
I married her!
We did a project at a mechanic village.
The mechanics approached me and
asked that I build a church for them
which will also serve as their town hall meeting venue. I spoke with my
team and we decided to build the
church. When we were done
with the project, the mechanics just
moved into the church without as
much as a thank you. We were in
Benin when my brother asked me
about the project. I told him I
went to the mechanic village to
repair my car and I saw that the mechanics had moved into the
church building while the keys were
still with me.
(We had intended to do a proper handing over ceremony of the building to their leader on a certain date. We had planned to give them some goodies and
some cash with which they will
maintain the facility. We even planned
to buy them a generator and build
a public toilet but they were cunning
in a way. They tricked the builders to
leave the doors open when the
project was done. The builder delivered the keys to me but when I got there
the place was not locked.
When I asked questions about it,
I saw the way they were exchanging meaningful glances and perceived their deceitful hearts.
I decided to just walk away.
When we got back to our base,
my brother went to the mechanic village and had a sit down with them.
He showed them the error of their ways and asked them why they were conducting themselves in such an undignified manner.
He didn't tell me before doing this.
I suddenly noticed that the mechanics
sent a delegation to my house to
apologize for their behavior.
They said they thought I wanted to
lock up the place and make them
pay for some things before they will
have access to the facility.
I gave them their keys and hugged
them. I bore them no grudge,
I understood that mindset.
When people are too used to
the ills of life, good things always
seem to them like bait or a trap.
I went ahead and concluded the projects and did everything the Lord laid on my heart to do for them after that.
It was from the mechanics that
I learned that my brother had visited them and told them they were cheating themselves out of great blessings
by their conduct. He has a way of resolving conflicts effectively and silently.
A man of great wisdom and an unparalleled understanding of the
gospel.
A man Like Barnabas, a son of encouragement. Only God knows how many pastors he has under his tutelage all over the world. When a pastor is erring somewhere and people needed the pastor to be brought to his senses
They will call David.
I remember a pastor friend who abandoned his wife and children and started cohabiting with an undergraduate somewhere in Osun State.
This pastor was a friend of my brother from our days in Bowen University.
David followed him up, found out
the guy was in a lot of debt among
other things, Settled matters between him and his family, and then made
me clear the debt. He said
"See, you will clear that debt because Myles Monroe said Kingdom resources are meant to solve problems within the church of Christ"
I still haven't heard that message
till today but since oga quoted brother Myles, what shall I do?
Another Pastor got in trouble when he dabbled into cassava business.
My brother was off to Ibadan to help
and I played my role in that too.
Another brother was having issues
with his job, my brother was right in the middle of it, making sure his family
didn't fall apart until things got
better. I cannot pretend I don't
admire his people skills.
He would say to me "Ignore the
trolls on Twitter don't let them get
under your skin"
"See, we all have our mumu buttons,
the key is not to let the undeserving
people know where it is"
I remember visiting my brother at
PANTI police station once (about 8
years ago). I heard about the
issue quite late and drove to thee
police station at about 10pm.
David was holding a revival in the cell.
He said, "Bro, you came at the
wrong time, I am ministering..."
I nodded and went back home amazed.
What a brother!
