Barrier Breakers

Barrier Breakers

It happened under the staircase.
There was no space anywhere else.
They met at the party, under the canopy.
The musicians were doing their thing,
the celebrants were dancing and
spraying money.
Somebody had died.
The living were celebrating burying
the dead successfully.
It was a big party.
She caught his eye sometime around
11 pm.
She had been staring at him nonstop
for several minutes.
It was nothing new.
He was a Kegite, one of the lead gyrators
from his school.
She had been out of secondary school
for a while, waiting for admission.
His music mesmerized her!
When he finished singing, another comrade
took over.
He walked over to her.
He didn't say much, she liked him enough.
He introduced himself and asked if she was
an indigene.
She nodded.
He asked if she could show him around,
he needed to stretch his legs.
She had been longing to be with him.
She stood up and beckoned on him.
She liked him.
 He was handsome and creative.
He had a good voice.
He was a departure from her boring life.
He was someone to boast about!
He walked behind her, curiously keeping
a certain distance so as not to attract
attention.
Once they got away from the crowd,
he draped his left hand over her shoulder
and stretched it to tease her carnally.
He was bold and his intention was clear,
but she didn't care.
She just needed that one day away from
the crowd and her boring life.
Of all the ladies present, he chose her.
He wanted her.
She led him to the staircase.
It was a busy night, people were coming in
and out of the house, but nobody bothered
to check underneath the stairs.
They both made body music in plain sight.
He beat the drums and she moaned
delightfully.
It was meant to be a quickie but there was
nothing quick about it.
He took his time stroking and she took it all in.
Later that morning, 5 AM, he surfaced from
the east, she surfaced from the west.
It was as if they were never together.
He had drunk his fill and she had satisfied
her curiosity.
Nobody suspected that they were together.
She watched as he and his friends got into
their school bus.
She was happy he was leaving.
She had sinned.
She had done the unthinkable.
It was pleasurable while it lasted but the
consequences of her indiscretion hit her in
the gut as soon as she saw him wink to one
of his friends.
She had become one of those girls.
He met her, rode her and walked away like
superman.
It suddenly made her feel used and cheap.
What had she done?
What came over her?
He was a total stranger!
He didn't even use protection!
She bit her lips silently.
She knew it was way more than sex
Three weeks later, she got her result.
She passed with flying colours.
Her parents started running around for
her admission.
After one month, she was admitted for a
pre-degree programme
She got to school on a Tuesday, she fell
 ill a week later.
People said it was as a result of the
change in the environment.
She was treated for malaria and typhoid.
The sickness persisted.
One afternoon in the hostel, she fainted!
She was rushed to the school clinic.
The doctor ordered tests and all.
It was discovered that she was pregnant
Wow!
It was the devil's plan to sabotage her
future!
She wanted to abort.
The school doctor told her the option was
not available on campus.
She decided to visit another hospital in town,
somewhere her shame could be covered
discreetly.
She found her way to the hospital three
days later.
She had been told to ask for a specific
doctor.
The doctor was conducting a ward round,
so she had to wait a bit.
Eventually, she saw the doctor.
The doctor told her his terms and
conditions.
He would sleep with her first and then
conduct the abortion.
He also told her to come with ten thousand
Naira.
He gave her a list of antibiotics.
She got the antibiotics the next day.
The doctor had given her an address
where she was to come and meet him.
She left the hostel at 2 pm.
When she got to the address, she saw a
tall guy in front of the house.
She was too troubled to pay attention
to him.
She told him she wanted to see the doctor.
He called her name, "so and so"
She looked at him.
It was the devil himself, the guy that got
her knocked up!
The Kegite, the gyrator, the mesmerizer,
wicked man!
She didn't know that was his school.
She didn't even remember his name.
She didn't know how he recognized her.
She burst into tears!
He reached for her.
She pushed him away.
He reached for her again.
She sank into him, her knees weakening.
She had thought about a lot of possibilities,
meeting him was not one of them.
She told him she was pregnant.
She told him why she wanted to see the
doctor.
The doctor's clinic was the flat next to
his own.
He begged her not to abort.
He told her he would do right by her.
He told her he would marry her.
He told her he would do whatever she
wanted.
She was confused!
Why wasn't he acting to the script?
Nobody ever wanted such a pregnancy
Never!
She refused.
She didn't even know him.
She had her life ahead of her.
Why was he toying with her life?
He had no option.
He called his parents out of their flat
He told them everything.
His parents begged her not to abort.
His father, a lecturer, pleaded with her
not to abort the baby.
His father promised to help her sort
 out the academic issues.
The following weekend, they followed
her home.
His parents, his relatives, the entire family,
they went to prostrate.
Her parents couldn't even be angry.
Her father especially found everything
amusing.
She kept the baby.
Somehow, she pulled through without
deferring her admission.
She had a baby boy.
His parents took full responsibility for
the baby.
He graduated and started working.
She graduated too.
They got married.
That child was their only child!
She tried to get another child.
She was told it was impossible.
In their family for many generations,
they always had only one child.
Her husband was the only child of his
parents too.
Had she aborted the child, he would
have remained childless.
It was as a result of an ancient
covenant.
They had done a lot to break it.
It had defied all!
The child was fifteen years old when the
couple met the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
at a social function in Oshogbo.
They were discussing generally and the
man cited himself as an example of a
strange supernatural reality.
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt told him
it can be changed.
There is a new set of rules for those who
are in Christ.
They have become new creatures.
Old covenants and curses or traditions of
the sons of men do not affect such.
Christkinds answers only to the realities of Zion.
Only Mankind connects to the realities of the
fallen world of men.
The man and his wife agreed!
They gave their lives to Christ.
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt anointed
them with oil.
He commanded a new beginning in the
Son by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The wife swayed and sang in tongues.
The husband fell backward, slain in the spirit.
That was the day it all turned!
Nine months later, Kolade, Kayode and Kikelomo
were born on March 21, 2019.
The naming ceremony was done in Oshogbo
The Glory of Zion changed the unchangeable!

Ps: Happy Birthday to Joshua, James, and Joy
as they were named by the Brother in Jeans
and T-shirt.
May the power of the Holy Spirit keep and
uphold you all the days of your life
You are barrier breakers, the first fruit
of a glorious reality in Christ
May you never know any other reality
but that which the Holy Spirit reserves
for the assembly of the saints in light
