Securing the Hurricane

He got home quite early that day
He had been informed verbally by one
of the managers of his branch that his 
performance review was top notch and
he was being considered as a team leader
for one of the investment quads in their
organization
it was such a huge step, especially because
he had spent barely six months in the
organization
The manager that gave him the information
told him not to tell anybody or even act strange
in any way due to the information
The competition was at a cut-throat level and a
lot of the other employees are doing whatever
it takes to move up the ladder
On merit, he would be given the promotion but
there are several other ways through which careers
are advanced
He was not naive
He knew exactly what the manager was saying
When he was interviewing for jobs, he knew
what he had to put up with
Who you know seemed to be the norm,
competence and value pales in comparison
to titles and positions of privilege
He didn't want to lose the promotion
He told the manager he would keep it to
himself
Just as he was about leaving the manager's
office
The manager changed his mind and told him
to go straight home
"Do not talk to anybody or stay around,
just go home" instructed the manager
When he protested about some tasks on
his table, the manager told him to bring the
file to him and go home
He told his colleagues the manager was sending
him out on an errand, handed over the file and
left
The manager told him the announcement would
be made the following day
His letter of promotion was already typed
and signed
That was why he got home early that day
His wife came in much later
She was two months pregnant and was still
dealing with morning sickness
Although she seemed to be getting better by
the day
He told her the news
His wife screamed with delight
Wow!
God has been so good and merciful to them
They met at a friend's birthday party
two years before they got married
It was right after they met that they
both got good jobs and were able to
settle down after many years of waiting
for a breakthrough
They watched an old movie and slept
off in the sitting room that night
The next morning, he woke up quite early 
and dressed in his best official outfit
He wanted to look the part
His wife, whose office was about fifteen
minutes drive from home saw him off
When he got to the office, he discovered
to his amazement that he couldn't log into
the system
He tried and tried
Later he called a colleague
The colleague told him he couldn't log into
the system too
That morning, at about 9 am, the news broke
that all those who couldn't log into the 
company's system had been relieved of their
jobs
It was a sucker punch
The first person he called was the manager
who gave him the information
The manager had also been sacked
The company sacked over 1000 staff members
in one day
Wow!
It took him about n hour to pack his stuff
he was slow, deliberate and sluggish
He was hoping for someone to say
"It was a prank or a mistake"
Nothing of such happened
By 12 noon he was on his way home
He drove in a state of shock
he could neither cry nor laugh
It was a terrible day
He was recently married and his wife was
pregnant
He got the job, set up an apartment
and got married all within the last six
months
He had nothing in his savings and he had
not bought anything for the baby
It was the worst possible time for him
to lose his job
He didn't even know how to break the 
news to his wife
He didn't want to tell her over the phone
because of the pregnancy
his wife was a worrywart and will most 
likely not take kindly to such a news
He decided he would wait for her to get
home before breaking the news to her
Just as he drove into his street, he saw
the smoke
It was coming right out of their flat
What!
He jumped out of the car and raced towards
the flat
It was pure instinct that made him act
so rashly
One of his neighbors saw him running right
into the fire and pulled him back
He wanted to salvage something, anything
but the neighbour held fast to him
The neighbour kept saying "So and so, let 
it burn! As long as you are alive you will
buy other properties
The flat was totally razed down
He couldn't remove a pin
When he got back to his car, his phones
and laptops had been stolen
The car had been stolen too but the 
"demobilizer" installed in it shut down the 
engine three streets away from the burnt 
house
One of the neighbours offered him and his 
wife a room to stay until they sorted 
themselves out
His wife usually arrived home by 5:30 pm 
in the evening
He didn't want her to return home and see
the wreckage
He went to her office to pick her up
He was told she had been rushed to the 
hospital
When he got to the hospital, he was told
she had suffered a miscarriage
The attack was fast, sudden and wicked
He felt exactly like Job
The only problem was he didn't have a
clue what to do about it
His wife was discharged two days later
His wife's elder sister offered them the
boy's quarters of their mansion in an
estate in Lagos
Just until they got back on their feet
They didn't
He couldn't  get another job
He wrote a lot of applications and attempted
to start a business seven times
Nothing worked out
His wife's salary was all they depended upon
His wife didn't mind 
She was that kind of woman
She encouraged him to sleep and eat
and feel no obligation towards her
She didn't complain, not even once
and whenever the issues seemed to 
weigh him down, she consoled him
She also didn't get pregnant again
He wasn't keen on having a child he
couldn't fend for but he found it oddly
disturbing that after the miscarriage
his wife didn't conceive again
The years rolled by
His suits became worn
His days were spent in tears and shame
He was living in his in-law's house and 
was being fed by his wife
He tried very hard to get something doing
He even attempted to travel abroad several
times
Nothing worked
His family members sent him some money
occasionally 
Something to hold body and soul together
He went many churches and spiritualists
to pray
Things that ought to be easy for him had
become quite difficult
He had always been on the fast lane of
achievement until he got stuck
He attempted to further his education,
just to move the needle a little
He couldn't raise the funds
He started doing odd jobs about the 
house
Feeding the dogs and tending to the garden
He was thirty-seven years old
Depressed, hemmed in and hopeless
He didn't know who to turn to
He didn't know what to do
Until one Saturday morning
He saw his mother and his siblings
at his doorstep
They said they came to visit him and 
his wife
He knew something was fishy
Some minutes after they arrived, his wife's
aunty and her husband arrived too
They said they were the ones that invited 
his family so that they can have a proper
meeting
They told his family members that he was
a lazy oaf who didn't have any scruples about
being fed and clothed by his wife
They said his wife had been the breadwinner
for seven years and he had refused to do
anything tangible about it
They told his family members that as the 
only surviving relatives of his wife
They are advocating a separation
He was a liability
he was dragging down their daughter
She had nothing to show for the union
No child, no joy, no fulfillment, nothing!
His wife's Aunty and Uncle said a lot
of things
His family members were humiliated
He was humiliated
He just wanted to die
His family members pleaded with his
wife's people for some time to sort
things out
His wife's Aunty and Uncle left
His wife fell on her knees and apologized
to his people
She said she didn't know they had such
a thing in mind and didn't invite them to
intervene on her behalf
She said she knows everything will be fine
She assured them that they would source
for money and move out of the boy's quarters
since it had given her relatives the chance to
meddle in her marriage!
His family members contributed some money
as usual
Someone took his CV
Another person promised to talk to somebody
to help him get a job
They left
He wept all night
The next morning, he wrote to the brother
in Jeans and T-shirt 
He narrated his ordeal
He said he needed divine intervention
The shame was too much
The brother in jeans and T-shirt met with
him
The brother in jeans and T-shirt led him
to christ and got him filled with the 
Holy Spirit
They prayed together
The Brother in jeans and T-shirt told him
He had become an initiate of supernatural
realities and hidden things will be exposed
to him henceforth
He should handle whatever the Holy Spirit
reveals to him with wisdom
Two days later
In the middle of the night
His wife woke him up
His wife said "I know you have been very
unhappy for the past few days
I know you have been running around trying
to get help
I want you to know that I love you
i don't want to lose you
Men are very unpredictable beings
The cause of their unpredictability and
unfaithfulness is money and power
I learned this when i was young
My father was a good man until he
became rich
He started womanizing and keeping
late nights
My mother tried all she could to satisfy
him
But the ladies kept coming for him
Sometimes they even had the audacity
to come to our house to ask for him
i saw my mother suffer many things for
the sake of love and i was determined
not to be a victim as she was!
All i wanted was to love and be loved
We don't really need so much in life
to be fulfilled
We needed each other and food to eat
Every other thing was just luxury
Anyway, I was the one that took away
all your virtue
I kept it locked in a padlock
I can release it so that you can prosper
again but on one condition
I want you to swear to me
That you will never leave me or love another 
woman and that the day you leave me, you 
will die a terrible death!
If you refuse to swear, you will never prosper
No matter where you go!"
He didn't say a word
He was praying in the spirit under his breath
he knew she didn't confess out of kindness
His liberation has come
The next morning, he drove his wife's aunty
to the airport
After dropping her off, he met an old friend
His old friend came to the airport to pick
his family
They talked for a while
The old friend offered him a job
He resumed the next day
He didn't say anything to his wife
After three months, he rented an 
apartment and moved out
He didn't say a word to his wife
His old friend had partners in Italy 
and Germany
He started traveling on business trips
with his friend
Six months after he moved out his
wife came to his new apartment early
one morning
She was in tears
She said she was sorry
She loved him and wanted him to take 
her back
His wife came with members of his family
and her Aunt 
They said "His wife had suffered too much
to be treated like a dog when things started
to turn around"
He didn't say a word
He just left the house for them
When he called the brother in Jeans and 
T-shirt to discuss the issue
He said he was scared of his wife
he never suspected her to be diabolical
and he couldn't willingly share a bed with
a snake
He wanted a divorce but he had not
asked for one officially
He didn't know what to do
His wife reached out to the brother in Jeans
and T-shirt
She wanted him to intervene
They met
He told her insecurity often led to witchcraft
Love does not manipulate 
Love does not achieve its end with evil
She saw reason
She had a lot of pain and grief
He prayed for her
She got healed
She also got filled with the Holy Spirit
Two destinies set on course for life
The Brother in jeans and T-shirt told 
the husband about his wife's conversion
The husband didn't say a word
He just nodded
One month later, she called
She went to his office to beg him
They ended up in a hotel
She believes he was softening his stand
On June 14, 2019, she moved in with
him
Another chapter of their marriage was
open 
She got pregnant in August 2019

Ps: I didn't like the way this story ended
I wanted to wait until she delivered the
baby before writing it
But another case came my way yesterday
it has a very similar outline
I am asking ladies and gentlemen not to
forget that tangling with the devil over
"love" and "marriage" is foolishness
The devil does not keep from falling
His duty was to steal, to kill and to destroy
Make your choices with your eyes open
Once you resort to demonic advantage in
order to keep your home
You are a demonic agent
A witch and a sorcerer
And your end will not be glorious

be charmed or bound or jinxed
Let whosoever dare try it
it will be like securing the Hurricane
