Three Sisters

Three Sisters

She gained admission into the university at the age of sixteen
She attended a girls-only secondary
school and wrote GCE when she was in Senior Secondary Class Two
She cleared her papers
The following year, she wrote the Joint Admission and Matriculation
Board examination and passed with
flying colours
Her father was overjoyed
Unlike other children who would write the examination several times
before gaining admission
His daughter beat the odds
Sometime in August that same year
the letter of admission was delivered
She had been admitted into the
university to study law
Her father took her shopping immediately
She was handed a blank cheque
but she spent wisely
She was the first of five children
She had two younger brothers and
two younger sisters
Her father was a structural engineer
Business has been lean
She was mindful of her father's pocket
On the eve of the day she was supposed to resume in school
Her mother sneaked into her room
and woke her up
Her mother had been restrained in
the celebrations of her admission
She had wondered why but she
didn't want to make an issue of it!
She was her mother's friend and
confidant!
Her mother said "There is something I will like to discuss
with you!"
She sat up immediately! Her mother's tone was weighty!
Her mother sat down beside her
and held her hands!
Her mother said
"You must not forget what I am
telling you today, it is very important! Promise me you will
never forget!"
She promised! She was scared and curious
Her mother nodded and continued
"I am dying! Your father and I know this because we have
been managing this for about four years!
I was diagnosed with a rare terminal disease and I
had managed it as much as I can!
Your father's business has been doing
well but he had been spending all
his money on my health!
We have finally come to a place where
I have resigned myself to the
fact that I will be gone in a few weeks!
This is why we needed to have this
discussion!
She understood!
Her father mentioned his mother's illness often!
His father even got a maid to help
out with domestic chores at a point
so that her mother can rest more
Her mother also left her job and
visited the hospital more
It was not officially announced but
all the children knew something was wrong!
Her mother said "I come from a family where ladies
have Spirit husband issues! The spirit husband
thing manifested in many ways!
As you know many of your aunties who are not married have children
and many of those who are married
dont have children!
Miscarriages plague some while some others are suffering from
mental illness!
Out of all the women from my father's house, i was the only one
with a husband and children!
I didn't experience any delay and
this was as a result of my mother's
careful guidance!
My mother saw the trend and went
to the elders to seek for a solution!
I was taken to a river, a spiritual divorce was done
and I was pronounced free!
This ritual was done during my first menstruation!
That blood was supposed to attract him to me
as one of His victims but the cleansing and
divorce spared me!
The only taboo was Okra
I was told never to eat okra again!
This was how i was spared!
I got married at the age of twenty five and I have lived a very blessed
life!
I wanted to do the same thing for you, i have arranged
everything that was needed for the cleansing and
divorce to be done!
All that was left was for you to have your menstruation
and it has not been forthcoming!
When i discussed this issue with
your father, he shrugged it off as most men who grew up
with relatively easier spiritual backgrounds do!
When we went to the hospital to
discuss your late menstruation with the gynecologist,
we were told you may have Primary amenorrhea!
We were told to wait at least until you
are eighteen! The problem is, i fear i do not have up to that time left!
So I will give you the phone number
of one of your uncles in the village
and I will ask that you keep in
contact with him!
Immediately you see your first period, get into a bus and travel
to the village! The arrangement has
been made!
The second thing was that you must take care of your sisters and
make the same arrangements for
them!"
By this time her mother was in tears!
They both cried!
She made the promise over and over again!
The next day, her father drove her
to school
Her mother died two months later
Life continued!
She waited in vain for her menstruation to show up
When she turned 20, she went for
an ovary function test which showed low follicle-stimulating
hormone (FSH) or luteinizing hormone (LH) levels.
The gynecologist concluded this kind of delay is common! She
recommended watchful waiting!
At first she worried about it
Especially when guys started
showing interest in her!
She felt it would be deceitful to
have a relationship knowing full
well she was not a "complete"
woman!
But she later decided to live her life
and take it one day at a time!
She graduated from law school, did her Master's degree
and was employed by a reputable law firm!
Her father celebrated his 60th birthday and remarried!
Her younger ones graduated from university one after the other!
She had more tests both at home and abroad
After spending so much, she decided she has had enough!
The odd thing was, neither of her
two younger sisters also saw their
periods
When she clocked 30, her two younger sisters were
22 and 24 years old respectively!
Her father began to ask questions,
he was worried their mother would
be disappointed in him for not doing enough!
Her younger brothers got married
and started their families!
It seemed the male folk in her family were immune from the curse!
She was happy for them but at
the same time she was moved to tears several times!
Their children were calling her aunty and big mummy!
Her younger sisters once told her
they wished they were boys!
They said it jokingly but they meant
it!
It broke her heart!
Being a woman isn't supposed to be a disadvantage,
and yet it was!
On 24th February 2019, she and her
sisters attended the Supernatural
service held by the Brother in Jeans
and T-shirt at RCCG Christ Covenant Parish,
Opposite The Place, Ogudu Road, Ogudu!
She had read testimonies on his timeline and
had planned to attend
the vigil that was canceled due to the general
elections holding on Saturday 23rd February!
She had never sought any desperate solution to her health
issue!
She trusted her doctors and believed things might
improve over time!
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
ministered!
There was laying on of hands and
declarations of healings and miracles!
Hands were laid on her!
Hands were laid on her sisters!
They were baptized in the Holy
Spirit!
The effect of the anointing of the
Holy Spirit was so strong on them
that they spoke in tongues all the way back home in the car!
All three of them!
They were not Pentecostals, they
were not churchy people and yet
when they got home, they could barely stand on their legs!
They crumbled on their knees, singing, crying and rolling on the
floor!
It was very strange!
Throughout the day, she felt tingling sensations at the
back of her neck, on her sides, her skin was glowing and
goose pimples was all over her!
It was fun and scary
Eventually, she slept around 10 pm
after praying in tongues and reading the book of John 1, John 14, 15 and 16!
She saw her mother
She saw several other women
many known and unknown faces
The dead and the living
They were bathing by the river
She saw herself and her sisters
They were taking off their clothes
They wanted to join the other women
The women told her mother
Her mother walked towards them and asked them
what they wanted
They told their mother they wanted
to bath in the river too
Their mother told them to leave the
river immediately
They said no!
Their mother asked the other women to beat
them up and chase
them away
A scuffle ensued
She remembered touching the river
and screaming "Bitter waters, in
the name of Jesus, dry up now!
River of sorrow, in the name of Jesus, dry up over my destiny!
I belong to the river of life, I am a tree of life! I bring
forth my fruit in due season! I command this river of
misery to dry up now!"
Everybody stood still
They were all looking at her
Her sisters and the other women!
Then the river started to shrink and
within minutes the whole place became a dry land!
Her mother looked at her and
screamed!
"What do you want us to drink now!"
She didn't respond
She took her younger sisters by hand and said "Mara is over"
Then she startled awake!
She had been seeing a vision so
vivid it felt real!
She got up from the bed to get a
cup of water
She felt a discharge all over her thighs
She touched it, she smelled it
It was blood!
WOW!!!!!!!
She just sat there, after many
years, at the age of thirty five,
she felt what it was like to be
a woman!
She had to browse the internet and watch how
to properly prepare
herself the next morning!
She didn't know whether to tell
her sisters or not!
She didn't know if they would be
happy for her and worried about
their own situations more...
She decided to keep quiet!
By noon that Monday, her 27 year old sister was on a
BRT bus from Marina to Maryland in Lagos when
her period came!
She said she was embarrassed
and exuberant at the same time!
The 29 year old didn't see her
period until she got on site on
Tuesday!
She was an engineer and she was
managing a project at Ilupeju!
She said one of her co-workers
(She was the only female) told
her that her skirt was stained!
Ps: The affliction left forever
The 35 year old had her court
wedding in June!
She had been seeing the guy on
and off but didn't commit due to
her situation!
The blood made a big difference!
The 27-year-old got engaged in September 2019
The 29-year-old is getting married
on December 7, 2019!
