The first time they met
He was transferred to the bank
as a branch manager
He started checking through all
the books
Especially the loans
He saw a particular transaction
The document he saw in the file
used as collateral for the loan
was a building he was familiar with
The building couldn't have been
used for a loan
A friend of his owned the building
He suspected something shady
was going on
He called the staff member in charge
of the account
The staff member arranged a meeting
between him and the businessman
The businessman arrived with an
envelope full of money
The businessman had anticipated
the problem
He came prepared
He said he had an arrangement with
the previous manager
The document was used without the
consent of the owner
Someone close to the owner of
the property was paid to loan it to
him
He needed the loan desperately and
didn't have any collateral that could
be valued to give him the amount
of money he needed
The businessman was desperate
He knew the type
He knew he was on very dangerous 
ground
The businessman was the type that
wouldn't hesitate to pay assassins to
kill and destroy just to have his way
He had spent eleven years in the
banking sector
He knew the type
He nodded his head and smiled
He also collected the "bribe" the 
businessman gave him
He was just being as wise as a serpent
He waited a month, he called his
friend and told him everything in
secret
His friend sold the property that
very week
The businessman didn't suspect a thing
The person who "borrowed" the 
businessman the document had
somehow retrieved it from the file
before it became a problem
The businessman was invited for the
second time
This time he came with another collateral
It was verified to be authentic
Handshakes were exchanged all round
Everybody won in his opinion
But he marked the businessman
He also marked some of the staff
members of his branch
There was a lot of shady deals in
the banking sector
It was part of the job
Three years later, he started his own
petrol service business with some
partners
He left the banking sector entirely
The business started on a good note
by the end of the year the business
had grown to seven outlets
The business needed at least ten outlets
before they can qualify for a merger
with another company with deeper
pockets
They started racing to build and furnish
three more outlets
Inevitably they had to take a loan
Because he didn't want the company 
to be liable
He took a personal loan
He used his land in a high brow area as collateral
He approached the same bank,
the one he left
The staff member who was in charge of the shady loan with 
the businessman had risen to 
the post of branch manager
He told the staff member his intention
The staff member told him he doesn't
have to take a loan from the bank
The staff member told him he had some
personal funds that he could spare
on a short term basis
He wouldn't need to pay any interest
apart from whatever he wanted to give
out of the magnanimity of his heart
He couldn't believe his luck
The cash was transferred into his 
accountant immediately
He was told to drop the collateral
just as a formality
He went about his business
Within six months, he met the target
and sealed the acquisition
He returned to the bank to settle with
the branch manager
He was told the branch manager had
been sacked
It took him a week to track the branch
manager down
He made inquiries about the 
loan
He was told the property, his property had been taken over 
by the bank and auctioned off
It was like watching a nightmare 
in slow motion
The branch manager said 
he ran into some financial 
trouble and had to make use 
of the collateral
He couldn't believe
The house was ten times 
the value of the loan
He insisted on meeting the 
person his property was sold 
to
The branch manager gave him 
an address and a phone number
It was the same businessman 
that he met the other time
Immediately he saw the businessman
he knew they were in cahoot
The businessman told him he would 
release property to him for 
three times
the value of the loan he took
It was outrageous
He knew they were just trying 
to milk
him
But it was done so brazenly and 
heartlessly
It hurt him badly
He ought to have seen the handwriting
on the wall
He was too smart to walk 
into that sort of trap
But his lament was for 
nothing
He had been scammed
He told the businessman how much he
had
The businessman laughed 
and told him he had other 
buyers lined up
Seeing him that morning 
was for old times sake
He started begging
He was willing to double 
the loan amount to get his 
property back
But he couldn't afford 
anything more than that
The Businessman told 
him to forget it
He told the businessman to 
hold on for a week
He was determined to raise 
the money somehow
The businessman told him it 
was okay
He went back home and tried 
as much as possible to raise 
the money
He couldn't
He went back to the businessman a week
later
He wanted  to beg and plead
The businessman said he 
shouldn't bother
The property had been sold
He told the businessman he
would go to court
The businessman laughed and
told him to go on
Then he turned to the businessman
and said, "That land was not a
property you can sell! 
The businessman laughed and
replied "Even if it belonged to
God and all the angels, they
will come before me groveling
like you and I will tell them 
the same thing I am telling you!
GET OUT OF HERE!"
He left
He called the Brother in Jeans
and T-shirt
He explained everything
He said he was heading for 
his lawyer's office
He was angry and would not
allow himself to be so
treated
He made a lot of noise
The Brother in Jeans and 
T-shirt allowed him to cool
off
Then the Brother in Jeans
and T-shirt said "Sir, please
go home! 
This sort of issue does not
need any aggravation or stress
Go home and read 1 Samuel 25!
Just read it and relax
Call me in three days by noon"
He turned his car around
He returned home
He read the scriptures
He didn't know how that
was supposed to solve the
problem
By 9 AM the third day,
his phone rang
It was the wife of his former
colleague
The branch manager
She said "Sir, my younger
brother is on the street
close to your house, he 
has been sent to bring you
the document to your
property sir.
I am the wife of so and so
Please give me the correct
address of your house
Please, Sir!
Thank you sir!"
It was a puzzle, he gave
her the address
A few minutes later
a young man walked in 
He dropped the envelope
and left in a hurry
Inside the envelope was
the document for his property"
Wow!
He hadn't even prepared a
cheque
He called the woman to 
acknowledge the receipt of
the document, he then asked
her about the cheque
She said he should keep the
money
Her husband was terribly
sick and they had been told
he wouldn't make it unless he
restitute something he took
illegally!
WOW!
He called the Brother in jeans
and T-shirt by noon
He explained what had 
happened
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt
went with him to see the branch
manager at the hospital
When they got there, they met
his wife
She explained that the
businessman and her husband
were returning home from the
club when they had a car
accident!
The businessman died instantly
Her husband held on to dear
life until they got to the
hospital
He told her to return his
property to him before he 
lost consciousness!
Wow!
She didn't understand it 
at first, because she was aware
of the whole case and believed
it to be a business deal that
went sour
Then a Man of God they did
not know from Adam came to
the hospital to pray for some 
people and called her by
name.
The man of God said "Do what
your husband said you must
do immediately, return what
was illegally acquired so that
your husband can rest!"
She said that was why she
told her younger brother to
get get it from their house
and bring it to him!
The branch manager was
still in a comma
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt
spoke to the Pneuma
He joined hands with the family 
and they prayed
After an hour they left hoping 
for a quick turn around
By 10 AM the next morning
the branch manager died!
The businessman was 52,
The branch manager was 44
Both left behind a wife
and three children respectively
It was a needless loss

PS: The wife never collected
the money
The land was given to a ministry
The magnitude of what happened
compelled a level of reverence
The ministry built a huge cathedral
on it 
Five hundred believers worship
at the cathedral every Sunday
It's been five years
The businessman's wife had 
remarried and has a daughter
for new husband
The Branch Manager's wife
had relocated with her children
to the USA
