Perez

He was a fantastic student
He had a very great potential
All his teachers said so, 
His principal said so
he was the head of the debate society
He won awards and accolades all over 
the state
He focused on his academics
Passed his examination in flying colours
He passed JAMB also
He wanted to study Law and he was 
admitted by his university of choice
He prepared for school
His parents were so proud
His father went to the Dean's office and 
was assured he had been admitted
When the admission list was released
His name was conspicuously missing
He couldn't believe it!
What could have happened?
The dean apologized, "It must have been 
an oversight"
His name didn't make the second batch, 
didn't even make the supplementary list
He missed the admission completely
His parents were undeterred! 
If the federal universities were so incompetent, 
he would have to attend a private University
He was enrolled in the private University 
He was a sunray that should not be 
darkened by bureaucratic incompetence
His parents coughed out the school fees
His light consumed his department
At the end of the first semester, 
his GPA was a perfect 5.0
He was the name on the lips of every 
student
He was popular, strong, smart, friendly 
and social
He was a natural leader
His presence carried a weighty substance!
His parents were euphoric
They knew the University environment can 
be testy
They prayed for him every day that he would 
adapt very well
God surpassed their expectations
He had a short break of three weeks before his 
second semester
The very day he got home, he fell ill
It was a little fever in the evening
By the next morning, it had become a
sharp pain in his left leg
His parents took him to the hospital
The scan revealed nothing
But the pain intensified!
It got so bad that he couldn't walk!
Physically there was nothing wrong 
with the leg
But any attempt to stand on the leg 
resulted in severe pain
The leg simply collapsed like a rotten
tree whenever he 
placed his weight on it
The pain was so severe that he was 
placed on serious pain killers 
It was a strange affliction
He was referred to specialists both 
at home and abroad
His parents took loans, sold properties, 
begged and borrowed
The affliction dragged on and on
It affected everybody!
His mother went from a happy woman to 
a haggard lamenter 
His father stopped going to church completely
He said it had nothing to do with the people
But he just wasn't comfortable with being 
the object
of pity and on the receiving end of "sorry" 
by people
He felt God was making an example of him
He was very angry and bitter because 
everything pointed to
a malevolent hand tearing their realities 
into shreds 
He was eventually placed on a wheelchair
He improved a little, but he couldn't take 
more than twenty steps at a time
Financially the family was drained
His twin younger ones finished secondary 
school 
and gained admission into the University
But they had to depend upon the scholarship 
and welfare packages reserved for the poor 
and needy in their local church
Apart from the constant pain, he started 
hallucinating
The doctors claimed it was as a result of the 
pain killers he was using
Everything about him was just tangled in misery
Someone told his mother she needed divine 
intervention
His mother didn't know where else to go
She was a believer and had prayed her heart 
out both night and day for years
What started as a minor blip had evolved 
into a major catastrophe 
She had been to prayer mountains, sowed 
dangerous seeds
Many prophets had prophesied to her
All they seemed to know how to do was 
diagnose the problem and point to "A" or 
"B" as the source
But they didn't offer any solution
Not one!
Some sent forth "Words of healing" which didn't 
work
At a point, she resolved not to run from pillar to 
post again
She was also getting weary in her bone and 
needed to rest!
The doctors recommended it when her blood 
pressure shot through the roof
Two weeks of bed rest!
It was while on the bed that she came across some
twitter posts
It was a thread of the scriptures taken from John 8
The scriptures suddenly gave her some peace
She slept off and forgot all about the troubled waters
she was in for the first time in many months
The following day, she went through the timeline of
the person who posted the thread
She found out it was the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt!
She read his thread every day
Her health improved starting with her breathing
It was the same Bible, the same words but her body
responded to it
The following Friday, she found her way to his office
She didn't know who he was but she wanted to say 
thank you!
She met him
They talked
She didn't know why but she kept talking
She told him everything!
He didn't say a word!
As she was preparing to leave, he said, 
"Can I meet your son?"
She took him to their house immediately
As soon as he got to her son's room, her son 
started screaming
He had not even prayed!
He laughed and said "Stand up brother, 
come here and hug me"
Her son stood up from the bed, the legs 
wobbling and walked
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt started 
speaking forth
scriptures after scriptures and praying in 
tongues in between!
Her son got to him and hugged him tight!
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt said 
"It is over, you can 
walk now, you are fine now"
Her son started crying!
He wept and wept and wouldn't stop
He said "If I start walking, nothing evil will
 happen to my family?"
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt said 
"Everybody is safe"
He heaved a sigh of relief!
He said "An old woman took my leg! 
That day, when I returned from school for 
the mid-semester break, 
I started feeling feverish!
I stayed in my room all day
The Old woman came in the image of a cousin
of ours!
She came to my room in the evening and 
started doing some things to me all by herself 
with her mouth
I was fast asleep and a strange sensation woke 
me up
I liked what she was doing, even though I wasn't 
feeling so fine!
At first, I thought it was a dream but then I 
opened my eyes and saw her
When she saw that my eyes were open she climbed 
on top of me and rode me
It was my first time having sex!
When she was done she started saying some
strange things
Then she held my head with both hands and
said "You will never ride another,
and you will not be ridden by another!
I take your seed into my pouch of death
Everything in this 
From today you will be a shadow always 
fleeing at the sight of glory!"
And she disappeared!
My leg started paining me immediately 
after then!
Sometimes someone will pray for me and 
the pain will leave
Then she will come back in a dream and 
flog my leg until it bled
The last time she told me if I ever walked 
members of my family shall be killed one by 
one for every step i take!
That was when my mother fell ill
The pain returned with a vengeance after 
that last visit!"
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt anointed 
him with oil
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt said 
"If you give your life to Jesus now and get 
filled with the Holy Spirit,
she will never see you again! 
All her deposits in you will
dry up and you will be free forever!
He gave his life to Jesus and got filled 
with the Holy Spirit!

His father was promoted and transferred to Abuja
a week after he was healed
The family moved with him
He gained admission to Reading University (with full scholarship)
 and traveled to the United Kingdom in September 2013
His mother retired and started her own school in Abuja
It was an instant success
The twins graduated in flying colours and are gainfully employed
He works with a reputable Bank in the UK
He is married with a son!
He said it was as if he lost no time, as if he never had any setback
His parents and siblings also testified 
That the Holy Spirit broke them forth in an unusual manner!
His Parents are now Born again Christians
So are the twins!
They all attend a pentecostal Church in Abuja and are
daily growing in the faith!

Perez, also written as Pharez/Perets 
(Hebrew: פֶּרֶץ / פָּרֶץ, Modern Perets / 
Peretz Tiberian Péreṣ / Pāreṣ), was the son 
of Tamar and Judah, and the twin of Zerah, 
according to the Book of Genesis. 
The name is transliterated to English 
as both "Perez" (NIV, ESV, NKJV) and 
"Pharez" (KJV). Perez, in Hebrew 
means "breach or burst forth" and is 
named after the narrative of his birth as 
recorded in Genesis 38:29.

The Holy Spirit says "I will cause
all who are stuck to burst forth this
season!
Declare it!
This is why we tagged tonight's
vigil "Perez", it is a night of Prayer
and Supplication!
