Rousing Winds

They met during the Gold Circle condom 
tour of higher institutions
The tour put together many artistes and 
comedians
It was one of the highlights of that semester
The show was staged on the school field
for free
A week before the show was staged
One of her classmates lied to her that
he had tickets for sale for a cheap price
She fell for it
She had never been in the show before
and didn't know it was free
She paid the guy some money to get
her tickets
When the poster for the show surfaced
She discovered she had been duped
It was terrible
Many of her classmates and roomates
who heard about it made fun of her
She was determined to get her money back
But the guy refused to show up in class
She found him on the field during the
show
The guy was smoking marijuana with some
friends at the back of the field
She didn't know what came over her
She went to meet him to demand for her
money
It became a noisy affair
That was when this handsome guy walked
up to her and said whatever she was being
owed, he would pay her
He was studying Agricultural Engineering
He was well dressed and had a smiling face
She followed him
He gave her the money and offered her a seat
beside him
She sat with him and that was it
They started talking and catching feelings
Two weeks after the show, he invited her
to his room and they had sex
That was how it all started
They were a match made in heaven
They were both left-handed, they both loved
parties and they were both stupidly wild
They were both heavy drinkers, chain smokers
and sexually adventurous 
They watched a lot of adult films together
for sexual inspiration and stimulation
They were that type of couple
The type that does everything together
They had no taboos or restraints
They would move from lounges to clubs
and party all night
That was who they were!
She couldn't meet anybody like him
It was too much of a coincidence that
they were both on the same planet
He was her best friend
She was his best friend too
It was their lifestyle that distinguished
them
His parents called her a bad influence
her parents labeled him a bad influence
Eventually, both parents agreed that they
were meant to be together
They graduated, started working
and got married
Their lifestyles went through some adjustments
but they still smoked packs of cigarettes
a day, drank to stupor and partied on weekends
After two years of marriage, she delivered a
set of twins
After that everything changed
The doctors advised her to stop smoking
He promised her he would stop smoking too
And he stopped
He stopped smoking around her 
But she still perceived the smell in his clothes
She didn't like it
Then she was also advised to cut down on the
drinking
Though she practically had to stop when
she was pregnant 
She had hoped to return to her usual lifestyle
But high blood pressure wouldn't let her
Her husband continued to drink
She found it frustrating
It led to many rows between them
She wanted him to quit totally and do things
with her
He would promise to stop but he always
broke his promise
The implication was that he branched at
places to drink and smoke before
returning home
For her, that was "cheating"
They were supposed to be doing everything 
together
He had turned her to one of those wives
Women who were put in their place
by their equals simply because they had
children and had become "mothers"
She fought it with all her heart
Their parents eventually got involved
His father especially put his feet down
Her husband adjusted reluctantly
She didn't want anybody snatching her
husband because she slacked
She knew what the ladies in those clubs
were capable of
If she wouldn't be there with him,
he shouldn't be there too!
He started coming home straight from
the office
They watched movies and sneaked some
sticks of cigarette together
Life was fun again
Then a friend of his invited him to a 
Church programme
A prominent businessman with whom
her husband did some business was
invited to be the speaker at the church 
event
Her husband attended and returned home
"Born Again"
It was not "funny"
He was speaking in tongues and doing
all the shenanigans
She thought it would fade away
It didn't!
Suddenly he lost interest in all the things
they used to do together
No more adult movies, cigarettes, dirty talks
and fun
He started trying to take her to church
He begged and pleaded
She went with him but she didn't get the
big deal
it was as if somebody hypnotized him
It was typical of him
To be a fanatic in any cause he ventured
into
He never did anything half-way
She had followed him into many ventures
but the one he chose this time was way
off and she couldn't cope
She couldn't get his parents or hers to
back her up as they usually did this time
Everybody saw his transformation as a
good thing
She was the devil!
The one with forky horns!
She tried to dissuade him from his sudden
illumination and enlightenment
It was no longer fun for her
He had taken away her friend and companion
He had thrown himself at a cause that
strangely made him happy and fulfilled
He had left her behind
She felt betrayed
She bore it for two years
Every day was pain and agony for her
She simply couldn't cope with church
and all the religious nonsense!
She was crying and dying inside
Her husband didn't make things any better
The religious things had numbed him to
her misery
He just couldn't see it
She eventually sought advice from a friend
After much consideration
She put the advice into action
She told her husband about it
Hoping a change of environment could help
the whole family
but her husband said NO!
The straw that broke the camel's back was
when her husband came home to tell her
that he has been made a parish pastor
A pastor...
Wow!
One Sunday, as soon as her husband drove
off to church
She packed her bags and carried their
children off to the airport
They left Nigeria for Canada
She filled a form citing domestic violence and
child abuse against her husband
it was what her friend advised her to do
so that she would get a visa for herself
and the children on time
She claimed her husband wanted to circumcise
her daughters
Her friend helped her with the documentation
She got to Canada on the Second Saturday of
June 2018
She felt what she did was just
He abandoned her first and he had to deal
with the consequences
When her husband got home that day
It was as if his world caved!
He couldn't see himself letting go of his
wife and children that way
It took him a week to know where she was
It was obvious she took the children
deliberately and left the house
But she left him no letters or messages
Everything was void and hopeless
When he made Inquiries about traveling
her discovered he had been blacklisted
as a child molester and abusive husband
Day turned to night for him
He was inconsolable
His business suffered as a consequences
and nothing was the same
Pastors and the church tried as much as
they could to console and comfort him
But he was really undone
he couldn't function very well anymore
Someone told the Brother in Jeans and 
T-shirt about his case
The brother in Jeans and T-shirt met with
him and told him he shouldn't act as if he
was powerless
He showed him a Scripture in the bible
He explained to him the power of the Holy
Spirit and the custodians of nature
He told him to table his case before the
Holy Spirit!

"Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; 
blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof 
may flow out. Let my beloved come into his 
garden, and eat his pleasant fruits". - Solomon

They joined hands together and prayed in the 
Holy Ghost for an hour for three days
Then they told the winds to arise!
Fourteen days later, on a Tuesday morning,
He got home and met his wife and children
They had spent a year, three months and 
fourteen days!
She said she suddenly felt choked and 
restless
She was sorry!
Her husband called the brother in Jeans and
T-shirt
What should i do?
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt said
"Take her back, love her and show her the
Holy Spirit is not boring in any way"
He did!
The brother in jeans and T-shirt met with
them the following Sunday
they talked and laughed together as if
nothing happened
There was no condemnation or hatred or
resentment or distrust
She was watching out for a lashing out
or a reaction
She didn't get such
She was totally forgiven and loved
Her husband told his family not to say
a word to her in his defense
He wanted her back and was prepared to
wipe off the past and all its ills
She gave her life to Christ and was filled 
with the Holy Spirit later that day
The restlessness in her was stilled
She started mentoring teens and 
young adults in her husband's church

We have a lot to learn 
As husbands, as wives, as women and men
As parents, as couples, and as singles
There is a lot we take for granted
There is a lot we can do better

He has been made higher than angels
Angels and ministering spirits are at his
beck and call
If he can fix self and be Christlike
Nothing is impossible to the believer!
