Wardrobe Malfunction

Wardrobe Malfunction

I had a wardrobe malfunction yesterday.
I have this silver, mono strap, jumpsuit
that I bought online like most of my clothes.
I wanted to wear it for Temi’s birthday dinner
November last year, but it was a little big
for me and just didn’t look as good on me
as it did on the model.
I was inspired to wear my firecracker T-shirt
and jeans in which I looked really good
that my phone was blowing up when
I put up my pictures on the online.
Anyway, since I have put on more weight,
I tried on the jumpsuit and it fit better
this time so I decided to wear it for
Aramide’s shower.
But just in case something went wrong
and cuz I don’t know how to pack just
one clothing item when I am sleeping
away from my house, I added a red top,
black jeans that are too tight and a black
and white checked pants.
I slept in my sister’s house on Saturday
night and cuz her light is fairly regular,
I took it for granted that there would
be light the following Sunday before
noon, the bridal shower start time,
and I could iron the jumpsuit cuz it
was really rumpled.
Sunday came and there was no light
all morning.
I complained to Miss Anna, my sister’s
help, and she assured me that the light
would return soon.
Around 11.30 am when there was still
no light, I decided to wear the red top
and jeans instead and went to shower.
After drying my body and applying l
otion, I wore the jeans and as expected
it was too tight.
Miss Anna and I tried to pull it up to
my waist to no avail.
I decided to switch to the checkered
pants which I thought was a bit formal
and suddenly light returns.
So I asked her to iron the jumpsuit for
me as I was going to wear it.
I was all “thank you Jesus” when the
light returned not knowing that it wasn’t
Jesus at all.
I put on the jumpsuit and went to take
pictures downstairs because but it
just didn’t look right.
I felt fat in it, and it was all rumpled
around my thigh area but I refused to
go change and headed for the shower
I was the MC for the shower which was
all shades of amazing by the way!
Aramide’s friends were hilarious and a
vibe and the half and all the hilarious
comments and amazing advice just
made the shower really interesting.
I had an outline of the agenda and the
guests made it turn out so much better
than I could ever have imagined.
I pray for that kind of hilarious,
participatory, and honest/vulnerable
guests at my own shower. Amen.
Anyway, I was walking up and down,
moving about, dancing etc and without
any mishap.
Then it was time for people to give the
bride advice and I sat for a little bit.
Minutes later, I got up to do God knows
what and I felt my zip pop open.
I thought it popped open just a little bit,
and I went to the kitchen to try to see
the extent of the damage only to find
that it was completely open and my
underwear and waist trainer were in
full view.
I quickly opened the door to the kitchen
and asked one of my friends to come.
When she walked up to me, I told her
that my zip had popped open and I didn’t
want to go to the living room with all those
people so she should help me bring
the bag that contained my red top and
pants from my car boot.
Thankfully, she brought it and I started
to change in the kitchen.
One of the guests walked in on me while
changing and asked why I was wearing
something else and I told her the reason.
“What if you didn’t have something else
to change into?”
“Well thank God I did.”
“pele oh”

I went back to the living room in my new
outfit and everyone was asking if I was
going out afterward and why I changed
but I just asked them to go on with the
program and refused to say why.
I believe now that it was the Holy Spirit
trying to get me to wear something else
with the no-light situation but I refused
to be discerning and insisted on wearing
what I wanted to wear.
Thank God I had a change of clothes and
thank God the shower was in an apartment
and not a public place cuz I don’t even
know how I would have managed
otherwise.
