The Pit

He couldn't explain how he got in the pit
He was well educated and hardworking
His landed his first job at the age of 24
Straight out of the University
It was a pretty good job with the 
Airport services
The pay was also very good
The job came with a lot of perks
He could travel abroad easily and
there were lots of other advantages
He was sent to France and later to Italy
to learn how to handle some very sensitive
weather and air navigation equipment 
(Navaids)
He finished the training as the top student
of his set
He returned home to a big bonus and 
Super bump in salary
He was one of only 22 people in the world
who could operate some of the equipment
he had expertise in
His employers gave him a letter of 
recommendation
He went home rejoicing 
The following morning, he went to see his parents
They had laboured so hard over him
Especially his mother!
His father had many wives and children
But he was one of the three children of his 
mother
His mother especially deserves to celebrate
When he got home, he told his mother
the good news
His mother told him the first wife must be told
Even though the first wife was much older
than she was
They were very close
Whenever the first wife had any important
occasion or event to attend
The first time would send for her so that they
can attend it together
The first wife had become like a big sister
to his mother
His mother didn't even allow him to eat
They set out for the first wife's house 
immediately
When they got there, his mother told him
to tell the first wife everything 
He obeyed his mother
The first wife rejoiced and prayed for him
The first wife offered them pounded yam
and vegetable soup
They ate and rejoiced
When they were leaving, his mother almost
stripped him naked to please the first wife
his mother collected practically every money
he had in his pocket and gave almost 
everything to the first wife
He slept in the village overnight
The next morning, he drove himself back to 
Lagos
On Monday morning, when he was supposed 
to resume at his new position in the office
He suddenly felt the urge to sleep some more
He slept all-day
The following morning, he slept again
Some of his colleagues came to check on him
As soon as he saw them, he was turned off
He decided he didn't want the job again
Everybody begged him
The company couldn't believe it
They had invested a lot of money in his training
They pleaded and offered him a lot of
incentives
He just walked away
Three  months after he left the job
He opened an electronic's repair shop very
close to his house
He studied electrical engineering and
he had always been good with his hands
He was a graduate and had always wanted
to own his own business
He started repairing household appliances
He wasn't making much but he was able
to feed himself and pay his house rent
His mother came to visit him from the village
His mother was shocked
He had sold his car and moved out of
his three-bedroom flat
All the fancy gadgets in his house were gone
He was managing a one-bedroom apartment
It was a serious reversal of fortune
His mother went back to the village
She had no other confidant apart from
the first wife
She told the first wife everything she saw
The first wife said "That is the right order,
The tail must not become so big that
one will find it difficult to differentiate 
between it and the head!
His mother realized too late that she
had handed her son over to a glory destroyer
Even though nothing was discussed in a 
manner that could lead to accusations
and counter-accusations
His mother realized the one she called
a friend was not a friend in any way
She distanced herself from the first
wife
She started running from one spiritualist
to the other in order to reverse whatever 
had been done against her son
The spiritualists told her all sorts and 
collected her money
But the fortune of his son didn't change
in any way
His colleagues prospered and started 
doing great things with their lives
He remained in one spot
When he was twenty-nine, he met a
lady through one of his neighbours
The lady was a graduate and a believer
They got talking
The lady encouraged him to get a job
She couldn't comprehend how a man
who had a first-class in Electrical engineering
came about the decision to be doing
a technician's job
The lady's argument made sense to him
He applied for a job at another company
as the chief engineer for their factory
He was given the job
He resumed on a Monday
His mother came visiting the following
Friday
He had not informed her that he had gotten
another job
She got to his house and met the door
locked
She waited for hours 
By the time he eventually got home at
around ten pm
His mother was furious
He explained to his mother that he had
gotten a job and there was a crisis that
he had to resolve that day
His mother refused to listen
She didn't understand why her son
had to be night crawling because of a job
What if he met with armed robbers and other
wicked people on his way back home
His mother insisted he must leave the job
He told his mother he couldn't leave
the job because the lady he wanted to
marry didn't want to marry a man
running a poor electronic repair shop
His mother got more upset
Her son was dancing to a lady's tune
like a puppet
They barely spoke to each other the 
next day
By the time he got home from work
His mother had left
He didn't think much of the incidence
He assumed his mother would get over it
His mother didn't
When he took his wife to be home a few
weeks later
His mother was totally against his choice
"The lady that remote controlled you to
take up a job that will give her the room to
be flirting around in your absence?
You will never marry her!
I didn't give birth to a son a woman can
remote control at will!
If she did any charm, i will destroy it
She has no place in your life!"
After four months of pushing and shoving
The lady left him!
She had seen enough to know that he
was tied to his mother's wrapper
He couldn't convince her to stay
It hurt him badly!
But he kept the job out of defiance!
Within a year, he was living in a better
apartment and driving a better car
The clash he had with his mother
had thought him a huge lesson about
his mother
She meant well but she was a non-literate
person and certain things were too
complicated for her to understand
He, therefore, resolved to keep her at arms
length especially regarding her trips to
his house in the city
He made sure he visited her every fortnight
He made sure he provided for her needs
He also made sure he provided for the
needs of his younger ones
Another opportunity opened for him at the
airport
He took it!
This time he didn't bother informing his
mother that he had changed jobs
He continued to relate with her as he had
always done
In June 2017, he was sent for another 
training abroad
He was in Jordan for six months
During the training, he met a lady who was
also in Jordan for the same training
They started dating each other with
serious intention towards marriage
He was 31 years old and ready to settle down
He returned home in December 
He went to the village to visit his mother
He told his mother about the lady
He made the mistake of mentioning
that he met the lady abroad
His mother freaked out!
"She will take you away to another country
She will drag you oversees
I will not see my own son again
It will never happen!
You will not marry her
You will not marry a foreigner!"
He tried to explain that the lady was 
a Nigerian like himself
But his mother was a one-way street
Once she made up her mind that she
had heard you the first time
She would interpret any other attempt
to explain the same thing to her in 
another way as hoodwinking her because
of her reaction to the truth!
He told his mother he was going to 
marry the lady
His mother said NO!
He went to his father's house and made
the announcement
His father said he should go-ahead
His mother got angrier
He had gone over her head to seek the
approval of his father
It had never happened before
Twenty-one days after Christmas
He had a dream
He was in a pit
He could see only his body jutting out
of a dry pit!
He was having a crude haircut
Someone with a local blade was shaving
his head
Suddenly his mother walked into the shop
and picked all the hair that had been cut
off from his head
She didn't say a word to him
She picked everything and walked out!
When he woke up, he didn't know what
meaning to give the dream
Two days later, while he was at his desk
in the office
He suddenly slumped
He was rushed to the hospital
The doctors battled to save his life
After several hours, they stabilized him
Nobody knew what exactly was wrong 
with him
All his tests came back as normal
He woke up the next day, looking and 
feeling normal
Until his fiancee came to see him at the
hospital
Immediately he saw her
He became seriously agitated, almost 
psychotic
It was very unusual
His fiancee said as soon as he saw her,
his countenance changed!
It was as if he saw someone or something
dangerous or evil
His fiance sent the brother in Jeans and 
T-shirt a message on Twitter
She explained everything
Even though, she had never met his people 
before
(He was supposed to take her home
during the easter holidays)
She said she suspected something diabolic
was going on based on their previous
conversations regarding his family and
his mother especially!
The Brother in jeans and T-shirt  and his
fiancee went to see him at the hospital
A few minutes after the brother in Jeans
and T-shirt arrived
His mother also arrived
His fiancee was seated at the reception of
the hospital when his mother arrived
(She was asked to sit there so as not to set 
her man off while he was being ministered to)
His fiancee had seen his mother's pictures
before and recognized her immediately
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt laid hands
on his a declared his healing and restoration
Then the Brother in Jeans and T-shirt led him
to Christ
Just as they were about to round off, his mother
walked in
Everything simply became new!
He said it was as if he could see everything in
colour for the first time
He greeted his mother and ate his meal
The Brother in Jeans and T-shirt invited his
fiancee into the ward
The fiancee was reluctant at first, but she 
eventually walked in
This time, his reaction to her when he saw
her was golden
He smiled broadly and opened wide his arms
She ran into his arms with delight
He introduced his mother to his fiancee
His mother took to her immediately
Talking kindly and nicely
He was discharged a few days later

PS: They had their introduction on the
last weekend of April 2018
The wedding ceremony was done in 
July 2018
His wife got pregnant in September 2019
His mother fell ill and was  brought to
their house in November 2019
She showed his mother love and care
They employed two nurses and made
sure she lacked nothing
His mother eventually confessed that
she didn't want them to get married and
because of that, she had sought help from
diabolic sources
But that day at the hospital, something
happened to her immediately she saw
the two of them in each other's arms!
She couldn't explain it!
She had to let them be
His mother gave her life to Christ during
the naming ceremony of their baby in July
2019
These events happened in Ikirun and 
Lagos respectively

love and understanding
Sometimes they resort to what they "know" out
of love
If you are not in Christ, you could get exposed
to demonic attacks due to their antics
If you are in Christ, full of the Holy Spirit,
You are immune to the wiles and devices of the
devil!
